This misinformation is actually dangerous. If you drink ice cold water after workout, you can freeze and crack your gut mucus that protects you from your own digestión acids and could create an ulcer.

in drinking ice water, you are functionally adding several ounces of 32° f water into a solid body of 100+ lbs at 98° f.

that water is not doing jack shit to your stomach lining, your body is simply too much of a thermal reservoir. the water is already increased significantly in temperature by the time it reaches your stomach.

in order to actually freeze anything inside your body you have to be drinking liquid nitrogen. ice water is fine!

it might make your stomach nerves uncomfy if you're super sensitive or not used to it, but it's not actually doing you physical harm

This has been my main argument against "AI" from the very beginning.

OpenAI scraped the entire web. All of which had been a labor of love from humans. Wikipedia is the backbone of a lot of LLMs, and that was volunteer human labor. They stole it and now they're selling it back to us.

And worse, they're trying to destroy the free sources that they stole from. It's destruction of human knowledge on an unprecedented scale. The burning of the library of Alexandria has nothing on this.

I cannot even explain how ANGRY I am at this.

My nephew is very allergic to eggs, peanuts, tree nuts, and sesame. Last year my sister discovered all hot dogs and hamburger buns now contain sesame. Not "may contain", but listed in the ingredients. This year basically every brand of sliced bread also now contains sesame, making it very difficult to find bread items he can eat.

They're just adding it to their products, so they can just list it as an ingredient and not bother with worrying about cross contamination. And they aren't even bothering with telling anyone. Capitalism is going to kill us all.

this thing anglophones do where their first response to seeing dutch is to start cracking jokes does piss me off though. the other day i posted something on bsky, a very trauma-laden phrase that my dad tells me constantly, and a couple people's first response was "haha, silly language, haha this word looks like this english word" like maybe shut the fuck up. maybe don't make fun of languages. you don't know what they're saying and you don't know if it's an appropriate moment to make fun. anglophones think they have permission to make fun of other european (particularly germanic) languages and idk what to tell you, go fuck yourself
