"The miracle and the monster are from the same root" - Victor Hugo. ("Le mot miracle et le mot monstre ont la même origine").
"Don't just believe in what you see. What really matters is what is invisible".
My illustration with the characters of the comic book "Hladnye Vraty" ("Cold Gate") by artist Mystical Buttons. I was also inspired to create this illustration by Crowley's tarot cards, including The Hermit and The Knight of Cups.
The plot of the comic tells about a princely ancient Russian family, which has been served by the vampire Vladislav for several centuries. But since the plot of the comic is not finished yet, when creating the illustration, I had to turn to Nikolai Gogol's story "A terrible Vergeanse". At first glance, Gogol's story has nothing in common with the vampire stories we know, but if you delve into Romanian and Slavik folklore, you will find many similarities.
I’ll have to re-start this blog, starting by re-posting the cast and crew interviews, which I want to have associated with this blog (for obvious reasons). These will be my posts for the next few days (or even weeks), but folks are welcome to send their usual asks about the film and related topics.
The goal of this blog remains unchanged: to uphold Robert Eggers vision for his adaptation of “Nosferatu”, and to expand on the topics present on my essays on my main blog.
This is mostly a Art analysis blog, but fandom content is welcomed, and Lilac fang nation has a safe space here, afar from the misinterpretations of the mainstream.
That being said, and I fear this wasn’t clear on my previous blog (nosferatu-eggers); I don’t have any quarrels against fandom headcanons nor fanon interpretations of the film. I’m not against fanartists creating whatever they want on their fan creations. I think it’s important to make this distinction. Canon and fanon are different things, and we roll with canon here. To me, this is of relevance since Robert Eggers was silenced on the mainstream and his creative vision was replaced by that of film critics and influencers.
As such, my goal has always been to create a space where Eggers voice and vision matter, and I hope folks can understand that.🪻🖤
I just found out today that you were hacked by scammers. I was terribly scared when I couldn't find your account in my subscriber feed. I will make this reblog specifically in case one of your subscribers lost your blog the same way I lost it.
The Witch - Poster fan art The witch (2015) by Robert Eggers
Nosferatu is a winter fairy tale, isn’t it?☺️
I would like to read a fanfic featuring Ellen, Orlok and the other characters, styled as a winter’s magic story. And I already have one in my mind! I bet you don’t know it 😉 It’s called “The Twelve Months”, by Samuil Marshak.
A capricious queen demands snowdrops in December, for her New Year’s table. She promises a basket of gold to whoever brings them to her. Tempted by the reward, a stepmother sends her stepdaughter out into a snowstorm, in the dead of winter, to look for snowdrops. The girl nearly freezes to death, but stumbles upon a fire where personified forces of nature are sitting: the twelve months themselves. They help her obtain the snowdrops.
I have an idea how it could be styled, even have a cast, haha 😁 It could be AU, or the afterlife, or whatever. A capricious countess demands lilacs in winter, because she’s melancholic. The count promises a reward to whoever brings them to the castle. The role of the stepdaughter can be taken by Thomasin from “The VVitch”. The plot can be twisted interesting ways. Who might she meet in the forest? Zalmoxis? 😆 In the original tale the main heroine had romantic interactions with April.
I don’t even know if I’ll take on this project. Just sharing the idea 👐
In the heart of the forest. Illustration and analysis of the episode from the anime "The ancient magus' bride"

My new illustration. While working on it, I had a lot of thoughts and ideas that made up an entire article. I invite you under the cat if you want to read.

Thanks for this source of inspiration!
This painting is a fantasy about how Wednesday will be able to find her aunt Ophelia, who will undoubtedly be the most striking character of the next season. I paited this picture slowly, because it was a very long process. I used pencils, gouache and pastels.
That Last Shot
The very last shot in season 2 is the one-eyed raven flying towards the camera:
And there has been some speculation that this raven has some connection with Lurch:
Because of the weird right eye:
What do we think?
Was this just put in for dramatic effect? Is that one raven Lurch's way of keeping an eye on Wednesday? (Probably not, since it was at the scene of the first murder in episode 1.) Will we be seeing it again in season 3?
We know Judi's dead, so she's not controlling it anymore, but that doesn't mean all the birds died.
Yeah, it just occurred to me that it's probably connected to Ophelia. That would make the most sense.
Something about my next work! ( I think that Lily Rose Depp's facial features and eyes are very similar to this "self portrait" from Ophelia's diary).

The Mårran
The Mårran is a very transformative witch!
Painted with acrylic on oval canvas (40cm×50cm). I was inspired to do this work by Robert Egger's film "The Lighthouse" and Tove Janson's original book.
Process, process and more process! Making a new artwork on an oval (!) canvas.
