How to Make “Unoriginal” Villagers “ORIGINAL” Looking for some of your favorite villagers, “Dreamies”, for your town is such a task. Even when you do find your dreamie they are sometimes “unoriginal”, lacking their usual clothing, catchphrase, and their furniture. BUT there are a few things you can do to make them “good as new” Catchphrase: If your new villager has an inappropriate catchphrase, or one that isn’t original, you can change it back. It’s simple but may take some time. When the specific villager is outside, walk around and wait for them to ping you. (To make things a bit easier, empty your pockets and make sure you don’t have any bells on you.) For Example: If you have Rosie, and her catchphrase is “yo bish”, she will ping you and say “Mayor! I need your help! Marshal said my catchphrase was so OLD! Can you believe him yo bish? You gotta give me a new catchphrase yo bish!” You can then suggest “silly” as her catchphrase, and she’ll then start to use it. This is the same idea to get new public works projects. You can even just talk to your villager and they will suggest it. Clothing: Sometimes villager can be fickle with their clothing and this takes a while to work, BUT all you have to do is just mail that villager a shirt, tank, or long sleeve shirt. (Villagers WON’T wear dresses!) You might also get the opportunity to deliver clothing to a fro to another villager. They will try it on and then ask you if you like it. Furniture: This section of unoriginal villagers may be the hardest, ESPECIALLY if your villager has a ton of out of place mismatched furniture. Though there is a “saving grace” method! All you have to do is go into the villager’s house and figure out which items you want them to get rid of, then figure out how many spaces It takes up. A Regal Bed takes up 4 spaces, and a Mama Polar Bear takes up 1. You just have to find a piece of furniture with the same space and mail it to your villager. This works 75% of the time. If a villager has a Rococo, Antique theme, and replaced their Rococo Bed with a Regal Bed, just send them a NEW Rococo Bed. They should replace it. ALSO another trick is to get invited into a villager’s house and to BUY their furniture. Sadly it’s limited to one piece per visit, but a little bit can help A LOT! You can also free up spaces at retail and wait for them to put out furniture. (BUT that means other villagers can put their furniture up as well. So just buy their furniture and mail it back. ;3) There are various ways that villagers can pawn of their furniture with you. Sometimes that involves trading or buying their furniture. BUT BOY DO I MISS THE FLEA MARKETS!!! Keeping Villagers Original: All of the villagers are unique and I do applaud Nintendo for allowing us to switch up their lives a bit, but personally, I really like preserving the animals’ “natural true self”. You can keep villagers somewhat original by not buying their items, mailing their items back, and saying their catchphrase is still “snazzy”! For Re-Tail so villagers won’t put up their items for sale, I’ll just put “garbage” for sale up at Re-Tail for 999,999. A villager would have to be completely insane to spend that much money on a boot. Though Animal Crossing is all up to YOU! It’s your village and you are the Mayor, so do as you please! I just wanted to help out some Mayors who have tracked down a dreamie that’s unoriginal. I hope this helped! If you have any comments, questions, or concerns, feel free to message me and I’ll help a brotha/sista out.
