I think there's definitely something to be said about Shelby and the real life encouragement of (white, cis) women to fear all strange men as potential rapists. It's a phenomenon that both demonizes the (usually racialized) other and allows for more control over the woman herself, under the guise of protection. Shelby doesn't want to hurt anyone, of course; but if she doesn't, or if she strays too far from the coven, the humans will hurt her first. This is the rationale that guides a good deal of her actions later in the series. The humans might do something terrible to her; never mind that her family already has. Never mind that, statistically, the most dangerous man to any woman is the one who lives with her. Was Shelby's roommate not the one who led them out into the woods to die?

Hello, we are the Hellfire Duo Zine!

Your admins are @cassandra41924 @evxrbee @almightypandora and @saxaltofan! We are all so excited to get us this project off the ground and running, and it all depends on your interest!

This community is all so so talented and we are ever grateful to every artist, writer, and maker for sharing their talent with the community and letting us see what they create.

We are also so grateful to Apokuna and Cherrifire for creating, telling and sharing the stories that they do, allowing us as a community to be able to create projects inspired by theirs.

Our rough draft of a timeline would be to have organization (applications/emails/ect) from June to late July, creation to from late July to early October and the finished product to come out around November/December.

This is our first interest check, and from this information we'd be able to put together a specific schedule based on approximately how many people respond. The form will run for 1 week, responses will not be accepted after June 4th, 2026.
