Bakugou was finally let go after two weeks of nursing and observation. Eri had lost control of her quirk, and the experiment had gone south. She had apologised to him and left with a determination to make it work the next time. He hadn't told her anything. He knew if she were anything like the hero she adored, she'd make it work. He hated to admit it, but Izuku always left an undeniable impact on people he met. More like an irreversible spell.
'Eri, Sir Night Eye, his classmates, All might, her...'
'Everyone he crossed paths with. Everyone.'
He kicks open the door, glad to be home at last. A fresh cooking smell drags him to the kitchen where he saw [y/n] in his apron, setting something in the oven. He opens his mouth to say something but was interfered with by [y/n], whose mouth moved without a break.
"Um... Hi... Welcome back?" [y/n] was restless.
"I had the key and Zu... I mean Deku, told me you are getting discharged today... I... It was his idea... "
Bakugou snorted, looking away. After gaining some composure, he turned back to [y/n], clearing his throat.
"You didn't have to. Shitty hair and Aya were going to come over." Katsuki says in an unusually calm tone, with no hint of frustration or anger. [y/n] was relieved that he received her actions neutrally, if not well.
Katsuki raised his eyebrows in surprise and waited for her to go on.
"This is the least I can do after what you.."
"Don't get so full of yourself. I am a hero, and I would do it for anyone."
Katsuki snapped, his usual way of talking making way back, slowly.
"Thank you for being the hero that saved me." [y/n] finally conveyed her gratitude.
Unsure of how to react, Katsuki turns to walk away.
"Another ten minutes, dinner will be ready!"
He heard her voice from behind. Bakugou felt that the living room suddenly appeared more spacious than before. Some stuff moved around, which he hadn't noticed when he walked in.
"I took the liberty of moving your play station. It was blocking the window, and by placing the bookcase here,"
[y/n] had followed him back to the hall, anticipating his bewilderment and to explain herself before it turned in to frustration.
"You can save so much space."
"Okay." was his response.
He settled on the recliner, resting as the golden-orange light of the setting sun spread warmth in the room. He liked how it felt. The open windows, sunlit room, the changes were comforting, but he didn't say a word.
[y/n] and Katsuki ate dinner in silence. Until Katsuki spoke up, "Do you know how it feels when someone always interferes in your life? and take away what you always wanted?"
"Fuck this shit." Katsuki curses, immediately regretting.
"You just have to accept that someone's growth and focus on yourself."
[y/n] carefully put her words forward, a few moments later. understanding his context and that someone was her boyfriend.
"What if shit keeps happening even after you accept the truth. How much do I have to lose to him to atone something that I used to do as a kid, devoid of the good and the bad?"
Katsuki's voice was shakey. He clutched his spoon tighter, trying hard not to smash the table. It was surprising how Katsuki wasn't talking about his recent devastating loss, but years of frustration and regret piled up. [y/n] thought about all those childhood stories of Izu, Katsuki's constant bullying. Izuku had moved on, but Katsuki hadn't yet. His regret and dissolving narcissism were not enough to get over the past. [y/n] found herself sympathising with the bully.
"You will get a chance to settle it once for all."
She quietly spoke up again, hoping to calm him down. Katsuki kept his head down, took a mouth full of food, chewing vigorously.
[y/n] set her spoon down and stood up briskly. She had to get him out of the overthinking loop. She knew no amount of gentle counselling was going to help.
On one of the 'Make-[y/n]-feel better sessions, Izuku had revealed something which she changed things for her.
"You are the person who tired out Kachan at work!"
Izuku chuckled, patting her back like a proud parent.
"Come on. The other day, you said Kachan left on emergency?" [y/n] felt a sudden knot in her stomach. But, Izuku went on, neglecting the change in her demeanour.
"I saw him standing on the terrace. He must have been so tired that he had to make up an excuse to get rid of you." Izuku huffed.
"To [y/n] who tired out Bakugou,"
Kiri cheered from the other end of the sofa, Aya and Izuku repeated, holding out their drinks. [y/n] forced a smile. She was in awe at the efforts her friends put in to get her out of the gloomy-guilt land. She was both angry and touched, knowing Katsuki's deed the other night.
At the moment, though she sympathised with the man, she didn't like the fact he had shown mercy. She got rid of the pants and sat on his lap, facing him with legs on either side.
"Claim your reward so we can move on with the game." She sounded serious.
"I don't want to." Bakugou, who was startled at the moment, managed to respond. [y/n] pulled out the cell phone that was sticking out of his pocket. She set the timer to eight minutes and placed it on the dining table that supported her back.
"Oh! So I win?" [y/n] raised her eyebrows and shrugged dramatically.
"What lame logic is that? Dumb ass" Katsuki was himself now.
"Fine, if you don't want my legs, claim something else. I need no sympathy. I want your Apology."
She heard herself say, clear and loud through her intuitions that warned her against it.
[y/n] swallowed the lump of air in her throat as Bakugou's hand scrawled up underneath her shirt. He placed it between her breasts, shifting slightly to the left as if locating the beats. His hand was now partially on her left boob, his thumb tracing her bra line.
"I claim your heart." Bakugou almost whispered, weighing every single word.
He was breathing heavily. His pulse quickened. Her valour, her naked legs on his lap, her shirt's uneven neck that revealed the neon pink bra strap. her lose hair that accentuated the collar bone, her quivering lips, everything about her teased him in ways he couldn't put in words. He leaned in to fill the gap, his lips grazing hers at first, followed by a deep kiss.
"Ka...Katsuki.." Her voice was low and shaky.
"So that's how my name sounds in your voice. Hot." He responded from where he was, his lips rubbing against her skin. He kissed her again, and again. [y/n] didn't return the kisses but didn't protest either.
