Hi! This is yet another blog inspired by @/brightgoat's MC:MW AU. I've been compelled to actually share a Minecraft story of my own that I'd been kicking around for some time, based on a secret fic that doesn't exist, in disjointed comic format.

Since the story is based on a fic that I wrote, plot posts will be tagged by corresponding chapter. Just a note- 'Chapter 7' will encompass a lot of miscellaneous shenanigans between the two main characters that will likely be posted intermittently to break up the serious plot stuff. As of right now, there are tentatively 17 chapters of varying lengths. The current schedule is updates once a week (currently queued for Sundays), with occasional smaller stuff in between.

Surprise double post today

Just like that, ice is running through Dom’s veins once again. Frozen for only a split second till a furious Vaughn dives straight back into fighting, tearing her attention away from him once again. He scrambles to cover behind a hut, trying to control his breathing once more and keep his head level. This is do or die.

But... how are they supposed to go up against this- this impossible force?

Meanwhile Vaughn, careless with rage and running into a wall exhaustion, doesn’t stand a chance against the perfectly refreshed and newly armoured enemy. It’s not long before his axe is yanked from his hands and he’s pinned to the ground, sword to his throat.

She watches her sharpshooter frozen in a brief state of horror, before ducking back behind the building. No response as the illager pinned under her calls after him. With the dangerous duo incapacitated, she notices that the sounds of the raid have died down, too- the iron golems must have done their job despite her being preoccupied the whole time. She relaxes slightly, the desperation-born anger ebbing now that the pressure is gone, and she feels like she has space to breathe again.

She and this other talkative illager have an exchange, some of which I actually posted [here]. He says some things that make her think her hunch may be correct- maybe the illagers DO know something about her situation. Even though he refuses to say another word on it after a point, she knows someone else who HAS been more forthcoming with information before.

So she decides to take care of the clearly still-furious illager under her by simply knocking him out, and then heads back to look for her sharpshooter.

It's the most unexpectedly difficult battle of her infinite life- she was underprepared. The shouting in the background as the sound of iron golems clashing with raiders is fraying every last one of her nerves, but these two illagers seemingly dead set on targeting her- she can’t get away from them no matter how she tries. It would be so much easier if she could just kill them. And she would have, like she has on so many raids before, but…

She can't. This single illager has not just given her inches, but MILES in speaking to her as far as she’s concerned. Even if he ends up killing her each time, even if he’s clearly extremely freaked out by her presence, she's fine torturing him a bit with her presence. Honestly he’s a perfectly acceptable victim of her pestering for the whole murderous pillaging thing, (even if it still gets to her watching him freak out).

But killing him? She- she cant- Fuck! Even despite the current circumstances. The dilemma has her brain on fire. And Moreso, his apparent friend has been running his mouth at her through the entire fight as well-

Now the SECOND illager to ever actually speak to her as a person who hears what he’s saying. Even if the subject matter is less than pleasant. If they would both just pause, just stop for one second-

But they don’t. Instead slowly picking at her as they force her to burn through all of the health potions she had until finally, between the two of them, they succeed in incapacitating her.

This tall axe wielding illager, among the insults and taunting, keeps boasting about some plan that apparently requires her to be captured alive. Whatever the plans are she doesn't want to find out exactly. Though she doesn't have any more healing potions, she does have another type.

And just like that, their captive is gone. Much to the dismay of both illagers, who are now wondering how the hell they’re going to explain this. The idea of her killing herself to escape them never even having occurred to either of the two. How the hell are they supposed to circumvent that??

Dom starts jogging over to where Vaughn stands dumbstruck, staring down at the pile of items she dropped upon vanishing. About half way there however, he hears the click of a door opening to his side.

Is anyone from Cherrie's village looking for her? And was she captured specifically to work, or did they just grab her while they were there?

Unfortunately, there's no need to look for Cherrie, everybody already knows where she went.

Cherrie's home village is no stranger to the Illager Empire, having been captured for a good while now. Their aggressive neighbors frequent the village for resources on a regular basis, and occasionally throw their weight around bothering the locals and pick off iron golems for training, free iron, or even just to blow off steam. (Maura is a familiar face in the village for this exact reason.)

The Vindicator visitors have become an unfortunate fact of life for the local populace, and its not uncommon for people to even be taken away to the mansion, either to serve the mansions residents, or for more dire and unfortunate reasons. Sadly, it only makes sense that Cherrie would follow in the steps of their parents...

I'm thinking to do a brief intermission between chapters 2 and 3 to finally introduce the witch duo, chapter 7 shenanigans style

Maddie hates raids. They hate them they hate them they hate them. They hate the pressure, they hate the surprise, they hate how often times, they don't manage to save everyone. And even for a while, they hated killing those illagers, vicious as the lot tended to be.

There was one raid, some time ago now, that changed how they felt about that, however.

And while the memory of what was lost scabbed over, each new raid threatens to pick it fresh. In a way that, over time, has made dispatching of these violent people less and less difficult. Only recently has that sharpshooter challenged their perception of the illagers. Unwittingly reminded them that illagers ARE people at the end of the day.

Still though, if illagers choose to come into a village with the intention of slaughter, it only seems fair that they reap what they sow, right? It's truly self defense. A singular fondness for that one sharpshooter doesn't change that.

Well, it shouldn't.

While I wouldn't exactly call Murph her boss he does try his hardest to make learning the ropes as painless as possible given the circumstances. They do end up building a bit of a rapport as Cherrie adjusts. Sometimes she'll even tag along when Murph goes out for smoke breaks, though necessarily to take part. She's tried a couple times but uh,

Ooooh! Interesting!!! How is Murphy treated by members of their mansion? I imagine opinions vary, from those with their heads totally in the evoker dogma to those who just love a good meal?

Usually most people don't pay much mind to the Mansion staff, but shenanigans certainly aren't unheard of. Murph develops a one-sided beef with One Bastard in particular...

On the other hand, another certain someone starts loitering more and more frequently in the kitchen, usually to bum for snacks and light-hearted pestering lol
