Aww, Lads....Not again.
Stop đ criminalizing đ languages.
Itâs the hallmark of colonialism, and honestly the Englishâs favorite thing to do. When a language dies, so does a culture; by logical conclusion, killing languages is genocide.
Keep Gaeilge alive.
Keep Cymraeg alive.
Keep Romani alive.
Keep Yiddish alive.
Keep Inuiuuk alive.
Keep TĂźbatulabal alive.
Hereâs a fantastic way to preserve languages.
And hereâs something you can do to help.

Hello everyone, I'm a 21 year old black woman, who has a white boyfriend. Both of our families have disowned us, and made us homeless because of our relationship. Everything was bad at first, but then we both got good jobs.
But here's where our lives turned for the worst. My boyfriend was working in a concrete plant, which you can inhale silica. He got sick with two kidney stones (that he hasn't passed), and two bumps on his lungs. So his job fired him. I lost my job when the virus hit really badly and there was a case of covid-19 at my job so I quit.
We lost our home, and we need help again. If anyone cares, or has a heart please help us. I'm so tired of being in this situation, I just want to have a home. I don't have any friends I can stay with or anything, and neither does him, and we only have a short amount of time before we are completely on the streets. Please help us. âĽď¸ If you are more comfortable with cash app, or venmo, here's my accounts.

Last night 75-80 people were arrested while protesting in Omaha because police were afraid that protests MIGHT turn violent. This is receiving very little media attention nationally. The Nebraska Left Coalition is collecting donations for the protesters bail, but the cops are currently refusing to process protesters or post bail.

Hereâs a fun tale from your local Target employee:
I was pushing truck for OTC today which is the pharmacy area. I was pushing cases of hand sanitizer because we got the âgood stuffâ in today (purell) and it goes quick even with the the product limit put in place. People were literally taking it from my hand before I could put it on the shelf, but thatâs not the point.
As I was putting the goods on the shelf, this woman comes up to the stand and sheâs very excited. âYes! You guys have it! How many can I take, is there a limit?â I say yes, 3 per person per transaction per day. She nods, accepting, and grabs her three. âSorry, that was weird. Iâm a teacher, Iâm trying to stock up. I promise Iâm not a hoarder.â I smile and nod and say itâs fine. She starts to walk away but stops and turns back.
âDo you have any Clorox wipes in stock by any chance?â
Heart sinking, I shake my head and say no, sorry, and we donât know for sure when weâll get more. (We get them maybe once every two weeks, but the product limit for those is one per person per transaction per day and they usually sell out within hours of going on the shelf.)
Her face dropped and she kinda looked down at her hand sanitizer and said âthatâs okay, with the product limit I wouldnât be able to get enough before school starts anyway. Itâs only 4 weeks away.â She laughed a little but I could hear the frustration in her voice and see the tension in her face. She sounded defeated. The most I could offer her was one of the small bottles of pure bleach. I honestly wanted to cry. For a second there I thought she would. I had no clue what to say as she turned and walked away.
This is what teachers are dealing with. Even in years when thereâs not a pandemic they have to rely on donations from parents or their own money to be able to buy hand sanitizer, wipes, tissues, etc. for their classrooms. Now theyâre being forced to return to school with no extra funding, no extra supplies, no support from the government; theyâre STILL expected to provide for and protect these kids *on their own.* All while, now, risking their own lives and their own health because the government doesnât want to admit that they fucked up handling this pandemic.
Every time I hear someone say âkids donât die from it, itâll be fine,â I realize that person does not give a flying fuck about teachers. Sure, *maybe* the kids will be fine. But the teachers are not children. They are adults with underlying conditions, adults living with elderly family, adults who are over 50 and are at more risk. Adults with at risk family at home. Adults who are at risk themselves. But they are STILL trying their hardest to protect your children in the classroom.
Itâs honestly fucked up that we live in a country where police departments get millions or even billions of dollars in state funding, yet teachers have to buy their own cleaning supplies and doctors have to reuse PPE in hospitals. Police get tens of thousands of dollars worth of riot armor to wear and terrorize peaceful protesters, while the Navajo Nation get sent body bags instead of medical supplies.
Honestly I donât know where Iâm going with this, but Iâm tired yâall. Iâm tired and frustrated because leadership in this country doesnât care enough to prioritize human life. Idk, it was a small moment in the grand scheme of things but it really was a slap in the face reminder of how this country treats itâs own people. I feel like weâve all been getting those lately.
i havenât really seen anyone on here talk about this so i thought iâd share cause this is absolutely upsetting and scary and we need to do something about it!!!!
Hello, I am from Belgium and there is a petition against the ban, you can sign it here!Â

From a friendâŚ
So if you didnât catch this mornings shitshow, it went basically like this:
The CDC put out its official recommendations and requirements states should meet before reopening schools.
Trump went to twitter, shitted on the CDC recommendations, demanding that k-12 schools fully open up in the fall. He threatened to cut federal funding if they do not.
Then the coronavirus task force held a press conference, minus Fauci, because heâs on the Presidentâs shit list.
Betsy Devos said she really really really wants kids back in school. She does not know how to do this, offered no suggestions. Just that they need to open, and leaves it up to local officials to figure it out.
Vice President Pence said children are resilient. Basically made out of cartilage with healthy lungs. They probably wonât get sick, so we shouldnât worry about them. There is also no disagreement between the CDC and Trump. Trump wants schools to open, and just doesnât want the CDCâs guidelines to be the reason for schools not opening?
Yes, he actually said he doesnât want states to keep their schools closed just because their own CDC says it is not safe to open.
So the VP says, donât worry, letâs bring up the Director of the CDC to clarify. -And I couldâve sworn I heard this guy gulp off camera.
But the director of the CDC comes up and says he also wants schools to open safely. He said he likes his job and wants to keep it, therefore, he is also in full agreement with Trump, despite the guidelines they released hours before.
So then Dr. Birx comes on and says half the country has seen a surge of new cases. The country is worse off than it was back at the start of all this. She said they should return to phase 1 and start all over.
Now, an astute reader may wonder how do half the states return to phase 1, and still expect to open by fall? Good question. âŚ.. And while you were thinking about it, Birx tries to leave the podium.
But before she gets away, Pence stops her, suggests she âtalk about that other thing about the childrenâ. She hesitates, then agrees.
She comes back up to the mic, says most children probably wonât die. Maybe 0.02%. And usually the ones who die were already sick, so you parents at home may want to keep an eye on them. Oh- and we have virtually no data on how transmissible the virus is in children because weâve barely tested any of them, but let me get out of your hair.
Pence comes back and says, see, weâre good here.
ââââââââ-
So while all that is going Cuomo is holding his own press conference.
He says I donât even give a shit what Trump is saying. Itâs not worth responding to the clown. States control school openings, and we will do it as safely as possible, end of discussion.
Other states blew off our warnings, and now they are paying the price. You want to fix your states? Pull your heads out of your asses and follow our example.
âââââââââ
And Fauci has gone total rogue. He has been giving interviews across the media spectrum, politely telling anyone who will listen that following trumpâs orders regarding the Coronavirus will lead to certain doom. Death and economic disaster on a scale never seen before. Please turn back while you still can.
And now you are filled in.
Apparently Trump has now announced he is ignoring CDC guidelines for schoolâs reopening and will cut funding from schools that do not reopen normally saying that delaying reopening is a democrat scheme. Remember itâs a crime to not send your child to school if itâs open so children will be forced to go in unless their parents are wealthy enough to stay home to homeschool them.
Iâve said it before and Iâll keep saying it, again and again: this isnât about americans being too stubborn to wear masks. This isnât about âAmericanâs are just stupid and selfishâ.  Our government is killing us. Donât call it a suicide.Â
why is everyone pretending like things are back to normal now? governments wanna open up schools and universities again, the news is no longer reporting the covid-19 pandemic the way it was a month ago, people have started having get-togethers and birthday parties again and meanwhile scientists think that covid-19 is airborne now?! like... we're still in the middle of a fucking pandemic and it's worse than we thought. people are dying because they think things are "back to normal" again. no they're fucking not!! the government and the businesses just want your fucking money!! this is just capitalism at play because as usual, they don't give a fuck if you die as long as you just give them your money. so please wear a mask, please wash your hands and please socially distance!! and remember things are not back to normal!!!
Black women really are on another level đ
đđđđđđ
There is not one thing magical about this. She shouldnât have to do this. Are y'all serious right now???? Like y'all should go read about how the father basically just shows up to sleep with her and she ends up pregnant again because she has a condition that makes her ovulate more than necessary and in turn her body rejects birth control and almost kills her. đ Quit calling black women that have to go through shit like this magical. Yes, she loves all her children, but the whole situation is stressful. Imagine the toll this takes on her body, and most of her kids hella young and can barely do for themselves. Stop calling these situations magical because sheâs black and has no choice but to survive how she can with her kids, while the father does nothing.
I need a trustworthy gofundme for this woman. Iâm going to look into this.
I need a way to support her MONETARILY, because using hand clap emojis to somehow applaud her for being hyper fertile and a man using her and leaving her isnât cutting it. No.
Her GoFundMe: https://www.gofundme.com/care-for-mariam-her-38-children
She is only asking for 10k and so far she is at $1,000. I am definitely donating some money.
There are some heartless comments in the notes calling her irresponsible and careless. Those people have obviously not taken the few minutes to watch this heart wrenching video.

She [Mariam Nabatanzi] was married off at 12 years of age after surviving death; allegedly at her stepmotherâs hands who apparently pounded glass and mixed it in the food she gave Nabatanzi and her four siblings. Her husband is an absentee father & husband so she supports her children by doing odd jobs. At 39, Nabatanzi has 38 children whom she has delivered from home except the last born who is four months old. She was delivered by caesarean section. Among her children are six sets of twins, four sets of triplets, three sets of quadruples and single births. Ten of these are girls and the rest are boys. The oldest is 23 years old while the youngest four months. 20841954_1496518771.2705_funddescription Married off Nabatanzi breaks down when she recalls what she went through upon getting married. In 1993, she was married off to a 40-year-old man. âI did not know I was being married off. People came home and brought things for my father. When time came for them to leave, I thought I was escorting my aunt but when I got there, she gave me away to the man.â Starting a family Her father-in-law gave them a piece of land to start their family, a family for which she planned to have six children. In 1994, when she was 13, Nabatanzi gave birth to twins. Two years later, she gave birth to triplets and a year and seven months after that added a set of quadruplets. This, she says was nothing strange to her because she had seen it before in her lineage. âMy father gave birth to 45 children with different women and these all came in quintuplets, quadruples, twins and triplets,â she says. Indeed, Dr Charles Kiggundu, a gynecologist at Mulago Hospital and President of gynaecologists and obstetricians, says it is very possible for Nabatanzi to have taken after her father. âHer case is genetic predisposition to hyper-ovulate (releasing multiple eggs in one cycle), which significantly increases the chance of having multiples; it is always genetic,â he explains. By her sixth delivery, Nabatanzi had had 18 children and wanted to stop, so, she went to see a doctor at Namaliili Hospital. The problem The doctor told Nabatanzi that she could not be stopped then because she had a high ovary count which would eventually kill her if she stopped. âHaving these unfertilised eggs accumulate poses not only a threat to destroy the reproductive system but can also make the woman lose their lives,â Dr Ahmed Kikomeko from Kawempe General Hospital explains. âI was advised to keep producing since putting this on hold would mean death. I tried using the Inter Uterine Device (IUD) but I got sick and vomited a lot, to the point of near death. I went into a coma for a month,â she explains. At the age of 23 with now 25 children, she went back to hospital to try and stop. âI was checked in at Mulago Hospital and advised to continue producing since the ovary count was still high.â No way to stop? Kiggundu explains that womenâs ovaries are at times suppressed and stopped from ovulating. âThe suppressed eggs later pile up and are released at once and here, the higher the chances of fertilizing many eggs, the higher the chances of all of them dying, Nabatanzi was lucky,â he says. âShe must have been super ovulating, releasing many eggs in a cycle.â He adds that Nabatanzi could have been helped if she had really wanted to stop producing, but some people are not well informed. At the birth of her four-month-old child who was delivered by C-section in December last year, she says; âI asked the doctor to stop me from more births and he said he had âcut my uterus from insideâ. This was my only Cesarean delivery because I was still weak from the sickness I suffered when I tried to use an IUD.â Nabatanziâs 25 years in marriage has been characterised by humiliation and torture. âI have been tortured countless times by my husband; he beats to the pulp when I try to reason with him over any issue, especially when he gets home drank. He does not provide for basic needs and welfare of the family; the children hardly know who he is since he is an absent father who gives his children names over the phone and not physically,â she says. Charles Musisi, 23, her eldest son says their father disappeared and they have grown up only with their motherâs love. âI can comfortably tell you that our siblings do not know what father looks like. I last saw him when I was 13 years old and only briefly in the night because he rushed off again,â he says, adding that they do not know the happiness of living with a father and they only rely on their mother as their both mother and father. Nabatanzi says her husband spends close to a year without coming home and when he does, he just sneaks into the house late in the night and leaves very early in the morning. âI carry these humiliations because my aunt advised me to always endure in marriage and have my children as the center of focus. She advised me not to produce children from different men.â The education challenge Nabatanzi is optimistic about seeing her children through school, something her father could not do for her. Despite being a Primary Two dropout, she has managed to educate her children. One of her first born twins has a certificate in nursing and the other in building although they have not found jobs yet. Nabatanziâs five-year-old son who was diagnosed with a heart problem early this year worries her as she has to spend Shs120, 000 a week to buy him medicine. âIn January, the doctors at Mulago Hospital advised me to raise Shs35m in nine months to have him taken to India for an operation. Since I do not have this money yet, I buy him medicine to help him cope in the meantime,â she says. Nabatanzi finds solace in her children as the family she never had while growing up. âI wish I could get a helping hand to help me with my childrenâs schooling, which is my major concern. I stopped looking to my husband for anything. Iâm only focusing on raising my children and I am determined to do,â she explains. Home care The older children help with their siblings and the general home administration. âI enjoy taking care of my children myself though. My children are my joy and I pride caring for them. I cook, wash and bathe them with ease. Children grow better under a motherâs love and care,â she says. Health Nabatanzi says she delivers her children naturally and she has always felt fine after each delivery until her recent C-section birth after which she started to develop backache after doing some home chores. âMy daughter who studied nursing used to take care of me during pregnancy. Eventually, I learnt how to do this, so I have not had any difficulties or complications with my pregnancies,â she explains.
