*stepping over my own corpse* sorry about that. it's nice to meet you. yeah don't worry about it, it'll despawn in a few minutes.
A good rule of thumb for AI is "would you trust a trained pigeon to do this?"
"We trained a pigeon to recognise cancerous cell clusters and somehow they're really good at it" okay great, that's something that could plausibly be a thing.
"We trained a pigeon to recognise good CV:s and left it in charge of sorting through all our job applications" uh perhaps consider not doing that.
Some fyosig for a change.
any moon art i draw is automatically dedicated to saph
why not give yourself an extra pronoun? as a treat. go pick one out champ. you earned it. i am so proud of you

I want a full list of bsd characters and their speech patterns/quirks in Japanese. It has so much character I feel sad I'm missing out on them
Hello! I'd like to talk about this! I'll be mostly using hiragana because I like it the most but I'll use katakana for English words. Kanji scares me.
Dazai: Uses the pronoun [わたし] / 'watashi' for himself which is formal. There's this thing where people think Dazai is feminine because he uses this pronoun but the reason why people equate 'watashi' to someone feminine is because 'watashi' is more polite and softer than the other pronouns and girls and women are more socially expected to be those things.
Ends sentences with [ね] / 'ne' a lot which I think adds credence to the idea of him being a little shit because 'ne' at the end of a sentences is urging the one being spoken to to agree or give their own opinion but Dazai doesn't wait for a reply. It's like going '(insert sentiment here) right?' but walking away or keep on talking very the one you're talking to can say anything.
Also ends sentences with [かな] / 'kana' which basically means 'i wonder' or 'maybe' which I think is again, him being a mischievous scoundrel because he probably already knows what he's saying is already true or false.
Uses English words when he doesn't need to like: [レディー] / 'redi--' / (lady) ;
[スマート] / 'suma-to' / (smart)
[グッド―バイ] / 'guddo-bai' / (goodbye)
[ワオ] / 'wao' / (wow)
Chuuya: Uses the pronoun [おれ] / 'ore' for himself which is informal.
Avid informal speech user.
Ends sentences with [ぜ] / 'ze' and [ろう] / 'rou' which gives off the impression of being informal, casual, and drawling.
Also ends sentences with [よ] / 'yo' which is more casual and self assured.
Uses [だろう] / 'darou' which is less respectful than Dazai's 'ne?' and Fyodor's 'desu ne?'.
Fyodor: Uses the pronoun [ぼけ] / 'boku' for himself which is what guys usually use.
Ends his sentences with [す] / 'su' and [です] / 'desu' often which is the 'proper' way to talk, but most people don't use it as much with long sentences because you can usually forgo them and still be mostly understood.
But Fyodor doesn't really do that. So his sentences feel a little unnecessarily wordy at times, I guess? Hmmm. How do I describe this? Imagine if a person you're texting to only texted with full sentences with periods. That's how it feels like. Personally, his dialogue at times reminded me of books teaching people how to speak Japanese.
Also uses slightly fancy words like:
[しかし] / 'shikashi' and [ただし] / 'tadashi' = means 'but' but [でも] / 'demo' and [けぢ] / 'kedo' are more commonly used.
[なぜなら] / 'nazenara' = means 'the reason why' or 'because' but [だって] / 'datte' is used more often.
I don't know if this was on purpose, but if you compare how he talks when he was first introduced to how he talks now, there's a notable shift. The other characters still have similar talking patterns but Fyodor's way of talking flows a little better. He still has his other speech quirks, but they're more natural now.
It's a little unsettling.
Atsushi: Also uses the pronoun 'boku' for himself.
Polite but not overly so.
Becomes significantly less formal with Akutagawa but drops the polite tone with some other people for quick moments of small snark like with Dazai.
Exclaims [おい!!] / 'oi!!' surprisingly often. Uses '...' (ellipses) a lot.
Probably the most normal way of speaking here.
Akutagawa: Uses the pronoun [やつがれ] / 'yatsugare' for himself which is another way to read the kanji for 'boku' but people don't use it because it's long and because it has the meaning of 'servant'. The meaning sounds humble but if someone were to use that for themselves in real life, they'd probably get teased or be seen as pretentious.
Blunt. The difference between his bluntness from Chuuya's is that Chuuya's is outwardly aggressive while Akutagawa's is mostly... aggressively closed off? I don't really know how to describe it, but he doesn't use polite words or theatrics to soften his sentiments.
There's this duality to his bluntness and his more poetic prose. The dreary comparisons and metaphors he'd make sometimes sound like something I'd read in older Japanese literature.
It's probably the reason I have this headcanon of Akutagawa learning how to read via novels or him reading novels once he learned how to read. Only tangentially related but I also have this headcanon that Gin also read the bible because of her choker and well, maybe it'd be something she can have hope in while not yet having a stable situation.
Anyways. The idea that Akutagawa has the fanciest way of talking in bsd isn't really true, I think. The structures of his sentences aren't that complicated and his way of talking aren't as archaic as some think. If anything, it's pretty normal in a blunt way.
He does use some deeper vocabulary at times and he does use metaphors often though so I can see why some people would think that.
Whew. That's all! I hope this made sense. Because if it didn't, then I just spouted nonsense for however like...more than three minutes. I spent way more time on the gag pictures.
