headcanon which is canon bc im the artist i make the rules is that the guy on the left woke up in the middle of the night, shaking and sweating after tending to the right guys fever feeling worse than ever. soo he goes to take his temp (39.4), which although is significantly higher than the guy on the right (im deciding hes at 38.8), left guy is still too worried about right guy to prioritize himself
hence why he is shivering despite wearing thicker clothes but the other guy is not. but hes only looking at right guy dont gaf about himself.
but then when the right guy wakes up hes gonna freak out and try to take care of left guy and overexert himself, raising his fever and symptoms š
CURRENTLY OBSESSED with the idea of 2 whumpees who r both sick but have to take care of each other-
taking their temps at the same time, and whoever has the high fever gets to continue resting while the other must heave themselves up and get more medicine/tissues/water for them both.
Creates a viscous cycle where as soon as one person begins to recover, their fever shoots back up as they overexert themselves trying to take care of the other.
One wakes up in the middle of the night to the other coughing and delirious, and frantically tries to lower their fever with cold towels and medicine, staying up all night with them despite the fact that their own fever is also above 39 and rapidly climbing.
Ok i try to keep private but. guys.... i think i have a fever kink... and if this ever gets traced to myself irl i might have to change my identity. heres a rant about my experiences and preferences just to get it out of my system so i can be productive again and stop thinking about it š
sooo i think ive always been intrigued to fevers my whole life. I remember when i was younger, young enough to not know my age, I was playing doctor with my friend and I was taking my stuffies temperature. i remember just continuously adding on pens and sticks and anything i could find to make the thermometer longer because "the temp is too high! the thermometer is gonna burst!"
i also hated showing or telling ppl i was sick ever since i was young, like id always hide it if i was unwell, and i wouldnt tell my parents or friends and would desperately try to make it seem like i was fine
irl i have no interests in sick people or being sick. if one of my friends has a cold or is coughing i always try to keep my distance so i dont get sick either. lowkey sometimes if they r a bit too snotty or whiny i even get annoyed.. šš I only ever feel this way about characters through a screen, or through little daydreams and fantasies.
anyways, i lowkey dont know if its a sexual tjing or not (ofc not when i was younger), but its just always something that made my stomach then and my heart pound.
i found out abt this community (<3) when i was in my teens. one day i got a yt video in my recommended of one of those "animate my story" videos. the title was smthing along the lines of "im addicted to seeing other people in pain" and i was like "damn. ok lets see whats up!" and clicked it. in the video the guy describes fantasizing about his favourite characters being hurt and being taken care of, and how its never about real people and whatnot, and as little teenage me watched it, i realized "damn. fhis is fr me but with illnesses!" This was the first time ive ever found out there were others like me, so i immediately scrolled to the comments. unfortunately, literally everyone was liek "bro this dude is a freak..." and i was like "oh.. šš" BUT THEN. this one commenter with a pink defualt yt profile pic said "hey :) ! this is actually called whump, and its more common than you think!" and i went WOAH. since then i searched up "sick fever" on google, found tumblr and fanfics and never looked back.
after seeing some of the #s on this site i definitely feel less alone now, but having a fever kink is still pretty uncommon right..? like i dont see anyone posting about it anywhere else except for the two sites a stated prior, and its not listed anywhere either (granted i havent looked very hard).
isnt it also just kinda weird- like even from an evolutionary standpoint... fever = infectious = bad = why would i wanna get closer and die..
regardless of reason, i just love a good sickness- fevers with flushed, hot skin, and chills and coughs. i also need a good temperature readings for the full experience, and i love all the descriptive diction about their health. im not a huge fan of descriptive puking or sinus related stuff, but im happy with it if it contributes to the fever plot-. ive also noticed over the years that its not simply just a cold- they need to be literally described/shown as flushed and sweaty. being "pale" or "green" AINT doing it for me š”
anyways! yeah that was my rant :) wow thats long. in the unlikely event someone finds this lmk if u have an similar/different experiences, or if a younger me sees this hopefully they wont feel like such a weirdo and feel less alone

ohhhhh god yes. whether it's from an injury or illness, characters being so deeply unwell that all they can do is lay there shivering and sweating, barely conscious? it gets me every time.
the fact that they have a fever doesn't even need to be checked with a thermometer- it's so obvious based on the way their teeth are chattering while they're sweating bullets, and as caretaker is wiping at their forehead with a cloth, they can feel the heat radiating through.
also no worries!! I honestly love any kind of interaction, whether it's questions or just sharing little bits of whump you like so I can share my thoughts too!! all is welcome <3
A's fever is through the roof. They are sleepy, dazed, and in so much pain. They can do nothing but shiver violently under their blankets, burning up yet chilled to the bone.
B keeps pressing cold washcloths to A's head, whispering sweet nothings and trying to comfort A through their hallucinations.
C keeps going back and forth, bringing ice and cold water and doing their best to assist B, looking incredibly worried.
A is shivering so much that they start getting painful cramps, and tears start rolling down their flaming cheeks.
B turns to C, in a hushed whisper. "I think it's time to call the doctor. Fever's getting out of control."
C just nods, darting out of the room with their heart breaking for poor A.
Doing this thing on twitter rn (btw my twitter is @hae_meto) where every rt and like equals to an increase in body temp and holy cow were people interested lmao

Tmi but my body temperature has always been on the higher scale (like around 99F, 37.0~37.5C) and the last time I was sick (covid lmao), I was quarantined in my studio apt playing nintendo and eating bingsoo just living the life when my body temp was around 39C (102F). So yeah I donāt really relate to him ahaha
Something was poking the inside of Whumpeeās mouth. Not the way they wanted to wake up.Ā
āNo. I told you to hold that still.ā A voice groaned as a hand pushed Whumpeeās jaw closed, pressing the object firmly into their mouth and below their tongue. āDonāt whine at me. If you had told me you were sick sooner, we could have caught this before it got so bad.ā
The hand on Whumpee's face was cool. Their skin felt like it was burning. Every part of them ached, pulling a moan from their ashy throat.Ā
A loud beeping made Whumpee flinch, and the hand drew away, taking the object with it. They missed the comfort immediately. Whumpee couldn't stop the slight lean in the direction it had gone. They needed it back. Please, don't leave them like that.
Music flowed over Whumpee, releasing the tension holding them under.Ā
The voice was humming a familiar tune. The song's name was on the tip of their tongue, but Whumpee couldn't seem to grasp it. Instead, they allowed their eyes to flutter open, squinting against the light coming in from the open window.Ā
Caretaker was standing next to Whumpee's desk, observing the object in their hand and taking notes. Their brow was furrowed in that funny way that made Whumpee want to remind them of their future wrinkles. Butā¦ their mouth was quirked up in a soft, lopsided smile. It was new. They were humming so softly. Obviously trying not to disturb Whumpee while providing some small comfort since they hummed louder every time Whumpee took a deep breath. This was new. This was odd andā¦ new.
Whumpee gasped as their throbbing head clenched around their focus. Their hand shook as they dragged it out from under the blanket wrapped around them to grip at their forehead. The only thing that kept them from crying out was Caretaker whispering gently, "Yeah, I know. I'll get some more medicine once the stores open, but you're going to have to hang on until then, andā¦ You're awake."
Flinching slightly at the rough change in Caretaker's voice, they looked over at their roommate. A frown had taken over their expression, and they looked mad. Whumpee wanted to apologize immediately. If stores weren't even open, it must have been really early. Caretaker had no reason to be standing in their room taking care of them when Whumpee had been nothing but rude the past couple of days. They wanted to thank them for being kind. Maybe even ask for some water since they honestly couldn't remember the last time they were able to keep some down. "Not sick."
"Really? Hmm. Guess we need to get a new thermometer since this one says you have a 102Ā° (39Ā°C) fever." Caretaker tossed the thermometer on the desk. "Tell you what, if you can sit up on your own, I'll believe you. Even though you've been basically unconscious for the past two days."
Now that was a bad idea. Too late now, though.
Whumpee tried. They shook and shivered. They moaned with each wave of hurt. When Caretaker started to apologize and take back their words, Whumpee ignored them. They made it up to their elbows, head too heavy to hold above their pillows before Caretaker intervened.Ā
Caretaker's arms wrapped around Whumpee, taking on their weight as Whumpee dropped in surprise. A hand shifted to lift Whumpee's head to Caretaker's shoulder. Whumpee waited for the panic to take over, but it didn't come.Ā
"I'm sorry, Whumpee. I know, I'll let you go in just a second. Let me shift your pillows so you can rest on them. I'll stop touching you, I promise. Just let me help you for a moment."
Whumpee turned their head so they were buried against Caretaker's cool throat.Ā
Fear didn't come until Caretaker released them in a more upright position against their pillows. Why had that felt so good? Nobody touches Whumpee. They didn't want them to. What was this fever doing to them? Their chest tightened. What moisture they had in their mouth caught and triggered a deep cough that didn't stop.
"I'm sorry, Whumpee. Just stay still. I'll get you some water." Caretaker sounded on the brink of tears as they rushed out the door.
They didn't see Whumpee's hand reaching after them. They were gone before Whumpee choked out a desperate plea for them to stay.Ā
A is getting their temperature checked by B. Their gaze is unfocused, their posture slumped as they huddle in on themself, trying to fend off the fever chills running painfully up their limbs. B approaches gently, temporal thermometer in hand.
"Look at me, baby," they murmur, tilting A's chin up.
They keep their hand on A's chin, steadying A's head, and slowly glide the thermometer from temple to temple.
The angle widens A's fever-bright eyes and though they shudder under the thermometer's cold kiss, they don't look away.
B meets their gaze and smiles, just a little.
Neither one of them speaks, so the thermometer does it for them. B looks away to check the numbers and A's chin dips again, released back to the misery of their illness.
