@mousy---mouse
happy pride to my favourite post on reddit
it doesn't matter to cats what kind of bad week you're going through, they'll come into your room and start doing repeated bulldozer attacks on you
huge fan of when cats reach out and touch each other with disrespectful intent
blue raspberry is fucked up cause it doesn't make sense but then u taste it and it Does taste like if a raspberry was blue
a cat is a sort of machine that dispenses hair all over you and everything else in the room
Nonbinary people are so cool I wish our rights were taken seriously haha
some people really do need to start reminding themselves that the answer to "why didn't the character just do [something entirely different]" is often simply "because then there wouldn't be a story"
getting new followers and especially a new mutual is so scary i gotta hit reblog extra good for a bit as to not scare them off
getting new followers and especially a new mutual is so scary i gotta hit reblog extra bad for a bit as to make them rethink this decision
architects designing houses in the 70s-90s: okay, what if you had to step up and step down and step up and step down and the floor itself was a deadly tripping hazard
The most interesting question you can ask about any character is not what do they want. it's what do they believe they deserve. because those two things are almost never the same and the gap between them is where your entire story lives. a person can want love completely and believe they don't deserve it and that belief will destroy every good thing that comes toward them in ways they won't even notice they're doing. write the gap. the gap is the character.
A child is punished for moving and making noise.
To avoid more punishment, the child sits still and is quiet. But they have to actively remind themself constantly to sit still and be quiet.
The teacher sees the child sitting still and being quiet. The teacher treats this as the baseline.
Since the child is putting a lot of effort into sitting still and being quiet, doing so distracts from paying attention to what the teacher is teaching. The child then is punished for not paying attention.
The child now knows that they'll be punished no matter what they do. And they can't explain why they struggle, because any attempt to explain is arguing.
If your child "becomes" autistic after hanging out with an autistic person, then they were always autistic. They were drawn to someone who sees the world in a similar way, and being around other similar people made them feel safe being themself instead of being who you want them to be.
Level 1: Asylums are scary because there's crazy people there.
Level 2: We shouldn't treat mental health facilities as objects of horror because it stigmatises mental illness.
Level 3: Asylums are scary because there's psychiatrists there.
respect non-binary people not because this is “a step to realizing they’re really a trans man/trans woman” but because non-binary people are deserving of respect in their identity. because being non-binary is not “just a stepping stone” for many people and they still deserve their identity to be respected.
being non-binary is being trans, and we respect our trans siblings in this house. full stop.
