I know, shoes, me too. I'm sorry I haven't been around lately. I promise I'll figure out this schedule thing soon.
Some of these look great, specifically the one that reads the Beats Per Minute in your itunes library to make sure your workout tunes stay upbeat!
I know I’m not the only one… let’s make this an awesome week :))))
Yesyesyes
I needed this!!
As my lack of posts would suggest, this has been me the last couple of weeks. But this week has been much, much better. It's amazing what taking steps to get back on track has done to my mental outlook. Looking forward to my workout this afternoon, then a nice long running session tomorrow.
Happy Friday, everyone!
There are a million reasons why you can’t. Focus on the few reasons why you can. Kara GoucherÂ

Austin Color Run is tomorrow! The weather has been unseasonably cool, so I'm a little worried about being cold at start time, but it should be a beautiful day. I'm very excited to get out there and have fun with my friends and my sister!

I've officially had to move my wedding ring from my ring finger to my middle finger, for fear of it flying off. I guess I'm still shrinking!
Want to work out with a buddy? Try some of these exercises:
Handclap plank - both starting off on the ground, raise yourselves up with one arm and slap hands, alternating each time.
V-sit side touch & pass - never declining and holding the v sit, twist and touch both sides and then pass the mediball off to your partner. Both must always twist and touch.
Mediball crunch - get your partner to stand over you and lock your feet into their legs. Crunch up, pass the mediball to them and come back down, then crunch up and grab the mediball again, repeat.Â
Crunch & stand - Crunch and using your core stand up, throw two punches when you reach the top, then lower yourself back down. Make sure your partner gives you a slight pull on your legs when you’re coming up!
Have fun with these! x
Well, I’ve been on and off (mostly off) tumblr these last few weeks, and when I am on, it’s just a quick scroll through my dash. My husband was laid off and has been home and COMPLETELY HOGGING the computer while looking for another job or some shit like that. ;) We are trying not to get too...
These are available for pre-sale on the Saucony website! I just ordered mine :)
Fail
I took a rest week after the 10k, then I got sick, so it's been 2 weeks since I last did any real running. And sadly, today's 2 mile run was a complete and utter fail. I had no breath, I was completely parched, and I was so HOT. And now, everything from my waist down hurts. So, lessons learned today: - don't forget to effing hydrate - don't go 2 weeks without running at all... - or if you do, take it easy, for god's sake - don't ever run outside in Austin at 4 pm between the months of March and October gonna try it again tomorrow, in the morning, after drinking many ounces of water.
Superwoman!
I've been going easy on myself exercise-wise this week, since the ramp up to the 10K pretty much kicked my ass. I took Monday and Tuesday off completely, and had a nice, pain-inducing strength training session and mile run at the gym yesterday. But today, oh, today, I accomplished something truly jaw-dropping. I managed to carry both of my children at the same time. My 55 lb daughter on my back, and my 42 lb son in my arms. I AM SUPERWOMAN.
I'm a Capitol 10K finisher!
I ran my very first race this past Sunday, the Capitol 10K here in Austin. It's a big race and I was a little intimidated going into it, but once I got saw all the different types of people who were running/walking it, I felt a little better. Some were clearly serious RUNNERS, and some were clearly not. So, that made me feel a little more at ease. My husband and I had decided to run our own races, so we wished each other luck and lined up with our goal pace groups- I was in the 10-minute mile group.
The race started and it took a good 5 or 6 minutes before the crowd moved enough for me to make it to the starting line. At that point, it opened up pretty quickly and we were off! It was a coolish, overcast morning, so I didn't have to worry about overheating at all, so that was nice. The route winds around the capitol building, and through downtown and into some really nice neighborhoods, so there was always something interesting to look at. There were also a lot of people spread out along the route holding signs and cheering us on... one guy even had boxes of donuts he was holding out to the runners. The combination of the new terrain and scenery and runners to keep pace with really made it the easiest 6.2 miles I've ever run. In my training runs, I usually start mentally breaking down around 1.5 miles in: thinking about how much more I have to go and having to really will myself on. This time, I had finished 3.1 before I even knew it, and I didn't have to truly pep talk myself until the 5 mile mark, when my legs started getting tired. I told my husband I wished I could run every long run like that!
I ended up with an official time of 1:05:50, which I was very happy with. I'm looking forward to making it a yearly tradition to run the race with my husband, and seeing how much I can improve my time!
