Government controlled media is already reducing it to "hundreds" of people in the streets today, but rest assured it is tens of thousands of Minnesotans marching through downtown. Local folks on bluesky were saying all the buses were full, the metro trains were all full, the highways were empty on a Friday.

I thought I'd share a few pics i grabbed today since I was out in the streets again today, and it was truly a great sight to see so many flooding the city despite -20 temps . Proud of every one who takes the risk to stand up against tyranny and injustice ✊️

Ive kinda been off the grid lately, and will likely be for a while, but for those that dont know me personally may not be aware that in irl I work in immigration and refugee services. I'm also American and living in the great twin cities of Minnesota. If you've been privy to anything going on in our news cycle then you probably know its been a chaotic, miserable, and disheartening past year for us, but the last month in particular has been incredibly difficult.

Our neighbors are being hunted like animals, dragged out of their houses and places of work, taken from their families and children, terrorized, abused, kidnapped, and shot dead in our streets.

There is no louder call to action.

These are our streets, and ICE can get the fuck out.

The standoff with agents happened on Jan. 8, one day after an ICE agent shot and killed Renee Good in south Minneapolis. Wooten’s refusal to comply with ICE was captured on video and posted to Facebook. 

The agents tried everything to intimidate the guard.

 “You can’t come back here, bro,” Wooten can be heard in the video saying to an agent wearing a mask and sunglasses. “I’m talking to your manager,” the agent said. Wooten responded: “No, you’re talking to security, I’m in charge.”

ICE left empty-handed. Wooten said he just stood his ground, “10 toes down.”

“I was doing my job like I’m supposed to,’’ Wooten said. “If you don’t stand for something, you’ll fall for anything. I just want to make my family safe because I’ve been here three years.”

Drove my teenager to confirmation class at church tonight and discussed the Constitutional Observer Training I’m attending tomorrow, because my state is being occupied by a paramilitary branch of the federal government that’s snatching up anyone brown - adults, kids, they DGAF.

Anyway. She asked why I signed up, and I explained that I can’t sit by and do nothing, or just post about it. Nobody is coming to save us, we have to save ourselves.

Then we talked about privilege, as we sometimes do, and how to use your privilege for good. I’m an upper middle class straight white woman. I’m known and respected in my community, I have a position of modest influence in my career, my husband has a high level position in a prominent field, I present as republican-coded. I am not the person they want to make an example of. I am like a million other suburban moms.

It is unclear what if any screening many of these people have;

Routine safety procedures are being bypassed;

China, Iran and Russia, already known for anti-US cyberattacks, in addition to hostile non-state actors, will exploit this and are no doubt already attempting to do so;

Vital infrastructure our federal government relies on to manage funds and resources and to coordinate and conduct virtually all its activities, including officials' confidential communications and emergency management, is at extreme risk;

This is obviously dangerous, and cannot continue.

I think this thread is a good reminder that Trump and Republicans are not that smart. I've tried to say this recently, that they aren't actually masterminds and haven't thought a lot of this through, and the response has been "but Project 2025!"
