clip studioâs super cheap again! as of right now until next tuesday (11/27) clip studioâs only 25 dollars which is an incredible steal for the programâs features. if youâve been thinking of getting it nowâs a good time
ITS THAT TIME OF YEAR AGAIN !! from today untill Dec 3rd you can get either version of CSP for 50% off ($25 for Pro and $109 for EX)
CSP can make professional illustrations, comics, and animations with way more features than Sai (including the world-saving perspective ruler). CSP also has tons of brushes, textures, 3D resources, and tutorials created by the community which can be found, downloaded, or accessed directly though the file/resource manager Clip Studio. While the Pro version is everything you need, the EX version will let you manage documents with multiple pages together, export in professional formats, and create long-form animations (Pro is limited to 3 seconds).
I dont mean to offend anyone but can you give tips on drawing overwight people? Everytime I try it ends up looking off
im not good at tutorials but heres some general stuf f I hope it helps!!

A Video Game That Teaches You How To Code
âI think everybody in this country should learn how to program a computer because it teaches you how to think,â Steve Jobs said in a lost interview from 1995.
But for a beginner, learning to code from scratch can be intimidating.
Enter CodeSpells. UC San Diego computer scientists developed this video game to teach people how to code. The story line is simple: youâre a wizard that uses spells (i.e. code) to navigate through the world, fight off foes, and solve problems.
While experienced coders can delve deep into the programming to create some truly devastating spells, newbies can easily experiment with the simple drag-and-drop coding interface.
If youâre into Minecraft, the CodeSpells team has also developed LearnToMod â a tool that teaches coding through Minecraft.

So I recently saw a couple of posts for companies, devs and indie groups looking for artists and offering compensation in the form of âexposureâ. And Iâm here to remind yaâll: donât take those deals.
Why not, you ask?
Companies that offer exposure:
rarely give you actual exposure and especially not to an audience that will be a future client.
Rarely actually credit you so that you can get contacts from the few potential future clients.
Have access to databases of free assets from people who make their assets free to use but dont want to use them because they plan to charge for the final product and youâll never see a dime from it. And those assets often have a license on them that prevents using them for commercial purposes aka making money by using them.
They also like to say âyouâll be building your portfolio!â And while theyâre not wrong, do you really want a portfolio that shows you value your work so little that youâd do it for free? Serious companies in the future wont look at your stuff as a result. Even if they do, theyâll ask why they should pay you for your work when you did it for free for someone else.
If a company or dev canât afford to pay you up front but you still really want to work with them consider the âintervieeâ a negotiation. Ask them hard pressing questions like what their ultimate goal will be financially using your work. Ask them if theyâre willing to do royalties or lump sum payment. Ask them if they plan to do a kickstarter to cover costs. Each of these things are areas where you can benefit.
And most importantly?
Get it in writing.
Draft up a contract and take into consideration not just when and how much youâll get paid but what repercussions are there should they fail to deliver or should they choose to terminate you before payment. Cover your ass!!!
But in all honesty? I would highly suggest not working with them at all. Your time and effort and skill are worth something, dont let them tell you itâs nothing.
Top 12 alternatives to Photoshop for digital painters and illustrators
Hello there!
Yes, we havenât done this in a while⌠but our inbox and chat are swamped with questions on the subject, so this article was very much needed.
itâs a simple list of art apps, but we know you love those :D
Enough with the intro, here it is, a list of twelve art apps you may want to check out.
ArtRage is an art program for beginners and professionals. With its minimal interface, itâs easy to keep the essential tools at hand without stealing space from the canvas. Panels can be moved around and tools can be customised. We all know how important it is for digital artists to be able to modify brushes!
Pros:Â easy to use; friendly interface; essential tools from professional apps available; available for iOS, Android, Windows and Mac
Cons: it may get sluggish with big files and when using big brushes, but performances also depend on the running machine; limited selection of editing tools if compared to Photoshop - ArtRage is more of a painting program rather than an editing one.
Paid
ArtRage Lite is a different version at a cheaper price, mostly for beginners, but also for professionals if they need the essential.
Now free, Sketchbook is the famous app created by Autodesk for various platforms.
Pros: clean, friendly interface; easy to use; professional features
Cons: lack of official tutorials; doesnât offer as many tools as other apps (itâs down to the essential); paid subscription in Adobe style for multiple licenses
Free and paid
Black Ink is a powerful little program few actually know, but thereâs a reason: this isnât your classing drawing app. Whatâs cool about it is the vast selection of special brushes, completely non-realistic, and definitely able to boost your creativity.
Pros:Â vast selection of customisable brushes; excellent performance
Cons:Â not very easy to use; non-intuitive interface
Paid
This is probably the most complete software for painting, drawing and animation. It was originally known as Manga Studio, but with its updates and addition of features, it became Clip Studio Paint.Â
This doesnât say much about the quality of the features themselves considering the affordable price (if you havenât used the app yet, that is), but among graphic apps, this one is the top seller.
Pros: professional features for illustrators; layout tools for comic/manga artists; 3D reference models; customisable tools; various sales with special prices
Cons: the interface may not appear intuitive at first; the program may lag (again, performance also depends on the running machine)
Paid
GIMP is the famous open source image editor originally created for GNU/Linux and available for OS X and Windows.Â
Best known as Photoshopâs main competition, this is a manipulation program for both beginners and professionals who love design.
It offers many professional features, making the program a powerful tool.
Pros: professional editing tools; supports different formats; supported by different platforms; active community
Cons:Â in spite of the simple design, many options are hidden and it takes time to discover all the features; slow startup
Free
Krita is an open source painting app created by artists for artists.
Pros: easy to use; intuitive interface; great brush workflow; brush stabilizer; customisable brushes; general good performance; very enthusiastic, although small, community
Cons: it may be slow or even crash depending on the running computer and the appâs version; very few editing tools compared to Photoshop
Free
MediBang Paint is a free and light app for drawing and painting, perfect for manga and comic creation.
Pros:Â vast selection of brushes; cloud sharing; friendly, minimal interface (non-desktop app); also available for iPad, iPhone and Android
Cons: requires an account to use all features; non-intuitive interface (desktop version)
Free
Mischief is a sketching app with essential tools, useful for brainstorming and ideation.
Pros: infinite drawing canvas; friendly interface; easy to use; cheap pro version
Cons:Â few updates; offers only the essential (but thatâs the point); no editing/adjustment tools
Free and paid
Corelâs jewel, Painter is the most famous software that offers digital tools able to give a traditional feel to brushes and canvas.
Pros:Â different selection of media; many professional features; PS-friendly
Cons:Â certain brushes may work slow; not easy to use at first; the software may crash (this is the most common report); pricey
Paid
Paintstorm Studio is a professional software for digital painting. Itâs focused on the use of brushes and blending, which makes the software a little gem in the digital painting field.
Pros:Â good brush workflow; brush stabilizer; âclose gapâ feature; customisable interface and tools; professional features; affordable price
Cons:Â non-intuitive interface (desktop version)
Paid
Procreate is the powerful drawing app for iOS.Â
With the very sensitive Apple Pencil, Procreate is so easy to use that many artists chose the iPad over the most famous graphic tablets.
Pros:Â friendly interface; makes it easy to organise files; excellent brush workflow; customisable brushes; video recording; affordable price
Cons:Â hidden features; only available for iPad
Paid
SAI is a simple app for artists who want to focus on painting and drawing.Â
Itâs well known for its good pressure support and its essential tools for manga artists, but SAI can be used by any kind of artist who wants to paint.
Pros:Â easy to use; friendly interface; light software; customisable brushes; tons of (non-official) tutorials
Cons: limited selection of tools, even basic ones; limited canvas sizes and uses; it might crash from intensive work, especially with big canvases and brushes; supports only RGB colour mode; lack of support
Paid
We hope youâll find this list useful.Â
If you think there are other apps that should have made this list, donât hesitate to let us know!
Thank you and peace out,
G&M

TBchoi!!! Drawing tips  LIVE STREAM ON TWITCH https://www.twitch.tv/tbchoi
I discovered something useful today, taking breaks or exercising never helps me but THIS does, sharing to save a life
I just found out that some pro artists that work for companies like Dreamworks etc sometimes hold their pens this or similar way so it gotta work. Recently I spent 5 days on drawing for long periods of time (we talk about min 5 hours in one go to max 12 hours long crunch) and not once did my hand bother me.
I just scribbled until I got this
IF YOUR ART GETS STOLEN
https://www.tumblr.com/dmca Go there, and do as the instructions say. When my art was stolen, I got the post reported, and it was taken down. Donât worry, it doesnât just take down the sources post, but it takes down all the reblogged posts too. Please give this a reblog, many artists out there may not know this is here. And remember, ask permission before sharing, or donât post it.
THIS IS BLOODY FANTASTIC
LET ME SMOOCH YOU
GOODBYE RE-POSTERS

freeware can be a great opportunity to get a feel for something and learn a new skill. and in some cases, the free versions are almost as powerful, so you might find that you saved a lot of money but made work that was just about equal to what you might have done with paid software!
Open Office is another freeware alternative to the Microsoft Office suite
Additionally, if youâre into or looking to get into developing software or other code, Microsoft offers Visual Studio Community and Visual Studio Mac for free. Other freeware or free versions of IDEs include:
JCreatorLE - Java
Anaconda - Python, F, and other data science-related frameworks
Eclipse - Java, C, C++, PHP
Postman - REST client
Codeblocks - C, C++
As well as countless libraries, especially JS libraries!
And if youâre a comp sci/other engineering student, you may be able to get software at a discounted or free rate through your college as well
I accidentally created the most soothing drink in the world after trying to recreate the hot honey drink in Ponyo! I guarantee it will remove all stress and troubles, Iâve had like 3 today because it makes me so happy
I JUST MADE THIS AND ITâS SO TASTY  *(*´âď˝*)â  omgggg  ⼠⼠âĽ
Tried immediately after reading this: confirmed to be delicious.
I know it sounds kind of weird, but itâs mild and sweet and just the right temperature for immediate consumption in any weather. Definitely give it a try!
my mom makes something a lot like this with herbal tea (lavender is a favorite) instead of water she calls it fairywine
I /love/ this⌠especially for those herbal teas that donât taste the greatest.. and lets be honest, a lot of medicinal herbal teas taste pretty unpleasant. This is my favourite way to drink herbal teas and actually enjoy them. Some fun additions: - Ginger for warming and soothing the throat (great without the milk or with) - (without the milk) Lemon for brightening and toning your liver/other organs - Peppermint for soothing a tummy or for after a meal - Chamomile for soothing the mind and for restful sleep - A teeny pinch of cayenne for when youâre sick and you need that cold to gtfo. Also great for combatting the chills, to aid circulation and to get those sinuses cleared. YUM
Just tried this and itâs fantastic, very soothing đâ¨
Ray Frenden reviews the too-cheap-to-be-true Monoprice graphics tablets. How do they stack up to industry standard Wacoms?
After spending a week with the 6.25âx10â Monoprice, my Yiynova and Cintiq remain unplugged and I gave my Intuos away to a friend. The Monoprice tracks subtle pressure variances and small movements with less lag and more crisp fidelity than any of the others. It is, put crudely, fucking awesome, in both OSX Lion and Windows 7 x64.
I have one of these, 10x6.5 I bought about two months ago for 48 bucks. Itâs a billion times better than my old Wacom Bamboo and works like a fuckin dream.
ATTENTION ALL PENNY-PINCHING ART FRIENDS!!!
ooo reblogging this for potential future purchase
oh
Iâm definitely thinking of getting one of these, or asking for one for Christmas. âCause as much as I appreciate Ian giving me his old tablet, I think the pen might be on itâs last legs. ;~;
Oh my god these start at $25 for a little one.
I would be so okay with a little one.
Reblogging this again because I fucking lost it and donât want to forget it again.
Relevant to some friendsâ interests⌠vaultedthewall , trows âŚ
i got mine for $75 including shipping to australia and iâve been using it since 2012 and it still works well today, definitely recommend
reblogging so i can find this if i ever think of buying a new one

tumblr artist PSA?
It looks like tumblr now automatically converts png files to jpg - if you have a fairly âcleanâ/simple digital art style that gets wrecked by jpg artifacts, youâll want to put transparency somewhere in the image - tumblr will leave pngs with transparency alone (a single pixel border of transparency around the image works and is pretty non-intrusive).
Incidentally twitter has done this for a while, the same method of fixing it works there.
