Well, yes, I do, I'll be glad to!

Now I've been working on the eighth episode of Tea & Rum in English, it's about one Arabic phrase from AC Mirage (it was released in my first language some time ago), and I could get back to House of the Dragon again afterward. I had some thoughts about Aegon, both his past with Aemond and his future with Larys, but I make no promises.

M'sorry, it's been a year™, lol. 

I recorded a new episode about House of the Dragon in my native language back in December, then life punched me in the face — but now I'm back in the saddle. It's finally done in English as well!

We're back to House of the Dragon for a bit. I've been dwelling on Aegon — his past with Aemond and his future with Larys — and those thoughts have finally turned into a new episode. On this occasion, we're looking back on quite a few fictional cripples!

I had to post this scene like this because I'm obsessed with Toby Stephens and Louise Barnes here, they did a fantastic job in a very important moment because, without yet revealing to us exactly what happened, we see for the first time the true motivation behind Flint's actions so far.

Similar to Eleanor, Miranda is a woman who has lived in the privilege that money has provided her and I love her dearly but Flint is right here. He doesn't come from a wealthy family and has spent his life ignoring his origins and his desires to fit into society. He has been good at his job, has done everything asked of him and has kept any indiscretions hidden.

And it has not been enough.

Miranda has the opportunity to be happy in that society but Flint does not because it would mean denying who he is again and ignoring what was done to the person he has loved most in his life, a person who was the same as him.

Flint is not the right leader for the cause because revenge is his driving force (that's why Madi's future introduction is so important, she is the leader Flint is not capable of being) but he is right: apologizing is not enough, apologizing is making them believe they are right when they are wrong and earning his right to exist requires a much more drastic action.

This absolute masterclass in acting, not one time I've rewatched this scene without feeling insane because of what this means in context. Look what having a good script and knowing where your show is going can give to your public.

what’s your opinion on banning ai generated fics? would it be wrong to explicitly ban them? (I mean, banning fics that are explicitly stated by the author to be ai generated)

censorship is always wrong. period.

ao3 allows ai-generated fics on their platform, and I agree with their decision even though I don’t like ai-generated fics. (here’s the post about it.)

when I say I’m against censorship, I mean I want nothing to be banned or censored — even if it’s things I personally dislike. so no, I will never want censorship.

also, if “every fic that is tagged as ai is banned”, I promise you people who use ai will absolutely stop tagging their ai fics as such. meaning there’s no way for anybody to know for certain if a fic is ai-generated, meaning you will get even more witch hunts, speculations, accusations and harassment within fandom and writing space.

so banning every ai fic that is properly tagged is… probably one of the most effective ways to destroy the entire writing community lol.

the point is for people who use ai to feel comfortable enough to be honest about the fact their fics are ai-generated, so that other people can make their own informed decisions on whether or not they want to read these ai-generated fics.

the point is not to harass or ban people who are honest about their usage of ai.

one very interesting thing about Black Sails' Anne Bonny/Jack Rackham is that.. some people seem to think that them loving each other would invalidate Anne's queerness, but I actually think it affirms it. It's not stark lesbianism, like MaxAnne appears to our modern eyes, but... Anne and Jack are both a bit... queer. And I mean that in the sense of being odd, in the sense of being outcastable, in the sense of having gender presentations that don't conform to most idealized versions of manhood/womanhood. they're, individually, each a bit... off to conventional sense. Anne is, of course, a coarse rabid thing, and Jack a faggy-dressed, silver-tongued, ambitious smoothener of others' personalities. They'd each have done well as cis in the other gender. And while Jack has never had to deal with the cage of white womanhood (especially not like Anne), I'm sure he's known that he was.. different. And that he'd have to sharpen himself to get by. But he sharpened his wits, whereas Anne sharpened her claws and swords.

I think their kinship is queer as fuck. It's like meeting like. It's different struggles with the same result: back to back with their sharp things out. They're family. They're blood to each other. They're enmeshed in the way you can only be after you keep watch in the night, knife a man for trying shit, while the other one sleeps.

MaxAnne is romantic love, is choosing to build a life with each other, with all the pieces of the other. JackAnne is blood between them and all around them. JackAnne is stealing food with the threat of losing a hand, to share it with the other. JackAnne is partnerssurvivorssiblingslovers. It's all tangled together in this cocoon of trust and intimacy covered in spikes.
