There is almost nothing outside of you that will help in any kind of lasting way, unless you are waiting for an organ. You canât buy, achieve, or date it. This is the most horrible truth.

Reflecting on this and personal growth/self-reliance tonight. Also: âYou are all you have, so you must be enough. There is no other way.â

For when you want to move your body, but your brain won't let you.
Oh hey look, something that ISNâT TOTAL FUCKING BULLSHIT :D
⌠Step 1. Realize that you should exercise. Step 2 ? Step 3. HEALTH!
When youâre depressed, that question mark can be a barely navigable labyrinth of garbage fires fueled by physical and mental exhaustion, self-loathing, defeat, and frustration. The last time I found myself trying to hack through that mess during a particularly dark period, I started to come up with my own list of bare-bones, practical tips to help me face the idea of moving again. Now Iâm sharing them, in case they might help someone else in a similar position. I stress the word âmight.â If youâre depressed, the last thing you need is another a-hole telling you what you should do. But if youâre looking for somewhere to start, Iâve been there too.
First heading? âYou donât have to exercise.â I love this entire piece. Itâs going on facebook, thatâs how much I love it. A+
âThe perfect body is a breathing one. Anything that serves those ends is worth considering. Everything else is noise.â
This is so good. I always try to find the best way to encourage my clients with depression to exercise without making it seem like a panacea for depression or such an overwhelming proposition that they'll never follow through.
Any movement that you enjoy is good movement. The right "exercise plan" is the one you're willing and able to do.
Love who you love while you have them. Thatâs all you can do. Let them go when you must. If you know how to love, youâll never run out.

People say, âOh, well, pornographyâthatâs for masturbation, nobody can get hurt that way.â But orgasm is a very serious reward, isnât it? Think of Pavlovâs little dogs, right? They donât just think about salivating; they salivate. They do it because they learned it. Period. Now think about pornography. The dehumanization is a basic part of the content of all pornography without exception. Pornography in this country in the last ten years has become increasingly violent by every measure, including Playboy, including all the stuff you take for granted; and every single orgasm is a reward for believing that material, absorbing that material, responding to that value system: having a sexual response to stuff that makes women inferior, subhuman.

The folklore among knitters is that everything handmade should have at least one mistake so an evil sprit will not become trapped in the maze of perfect stitches. A missed increase or decrease, a crooked seam, a place where the tension is uneven - the mistake is a crack left open to let in the light. The evil sprit I want to usher out of my knitting and my life is at once a spirit of laziness and of over-achieving. Itâs that little voice in my head that says, I wonât even try this because it doesnât come naturally to me and I wonât be very good at it.
Kyoko Mori, âYarnâ
That last phrase especially -Â âI wonât even try this because it doesnât come naturally to me and I wonât be very good at it.â It really is like some kind of all-encompassing evil sprit sometimes.Â
