Moss balls seem to roll around glaciers in a coordinated way, and researchers can't explain why the whole group moves at about the same spee
I heard this (rather sleepily) on the radio, this morning (26/05/2020), and even in a half-awake state, I was tickled.
A quote:
The researchers considered several possible explanations. The first, and most obvious one, is that they just rolled downhill. But measurements showed that the moss balls weren't going down a slope.
"We next thought maybe the wind is sort of blowing them in consistent directions," says Bartholomaus, "and so we measured the dominant direction of the wind."
That didn't explain it either, nor did the pattern of the sunlight.
"We still don't know," he says. "I'm still kind of baffled."
"It's always kind of exciting, though, when things don't comply with your hypothesis, with the way you think things work," says Gilbert.
Another:
"I did visit them last year," says Bartholomaus. "I didn't find any tags during a quick cursory look, but the moss balls are still there. Presumably they're still rolling around on the glacier, doing their moss ball thing."

Blessings on this new year's/decade's day to ALL...may this year find us at that crossroad where truth intersects with kindness and charity, and we can choose that path which leads us to a greater humanity, away from greed, self-centeredness and hubris.
May empathy and generosity fill our spirit, so that we may lift one another into the light. May strength and love fill our hearts, to better weather the storm on the horizon...because it IS coming.
We will defeat the wicked lies of the self-absorbed, the pandering of the weak sycophants ONLY if we band together >>> we are made stronger by our uniqueness of being but single-mindedness of heart: be ONE in the idea that NOBODY is entitled to anything in this world, no one person is better than any other based on wealth/status/orientation, and a good person is one who lives not solely for their own self. Truth will show us the proper outlets for us to direct our energies, and positivity will help ease the path toward the sharing the humanity we sorely need to proliferate in this world; within ourselves, and with one another.
My friend speaks to this even more succinctly and simultaneously expansively:
"One of the most important and meaningful tools we have as humans is our WORD. By all means, please do your best to keep your word. If you can’t, then communicate that and formulate another plan and share it.
There is so much shadiness and misinformation circling around all of us, under our noses and across the planet. Intentions get muddled and misread and the outcomes of partially conveyed information coupled with assumptions brings ugliness, fear, heartache and chaos. Sometimes this is accidental and other times it’s deliberate. No one needs extra stress. This is a given. When people are truly SOLUTION-MINDED, they collaborate and strive for harmony, resolution and win-win scenarios. When you find that the intended goal of another party IS chaos and pain and confusion, that is when you must recognize that you are navigating a different playing field in a different arena.
People who take comfort in (creating) conflict because it’s their only known norm must not be dealt with in a typical manner. They lack empathy and can not communicate on a human/e level despite their practiced displays of human-like emotion. Sociopaths and narcissists are typically very damaged and scared individuals who try to protect themselves by hurting and even/often attempting to destroy others. This is all done amidst a cloak of falseness designed to strategically creates uncertainty and doubt. It is directed right toward the target/victim.
I send blessings to all who must summon their courage and trust their intuition when they feel deeply that something is amiss within personal interactions and circumstances. We are our own guides and we have access to our celestial guides and the wisdom and input of our ancestors. We all have the capabilities of applying discernment and shining light onto darkness as we disengage from the sickness of others, all while sending them LOVE FROM AFAR with our own boundaries remaining intact.
These are intense and trying times, on numerous levels—personal, professional, national, international, global and beyond. We are at a huge pinnacle of global change and we are all players with power in this revolutionary shift.
Your word/s, your intention/s, your prayers and your follow-through are of the utmost importance right now. It is a time in which we are seeing things being shaken up, opportunities arising for righting wrongs. We are to be holding ourselves and others accountable in the healthiest of ways, knowing that one will always endure the punishment or rewarding consequences one brings to oneself.
Be open to learning new ideas and new ways of thinking. This time is also ripe for learning and assimilating higher frequency practices which will bring peace to those who need to be recharged by that powerful force we all have at our disposal: LOVE.
I have so much more to say but I will leave you with this:
Your word means everything. Keep it.
People are not always who they pretend to be, but the truth is ALWAYS revealed later.
Put others in their place when necessary, but remember that the universe is already working on that. Send those who intend us harm love but do not be trodden over by others’ falseness and misguided plans.
Trust. The right things come along if we open our eyes and minds to their existence and the certainty of their availability to us. Our instincts and intuition are perhaps our greatest gifts as they guide us multisystemically.
There is no right path but your free will can benefit you most when you align and connect yourself with TRUTH. Your truth may be different from that of others. But no real truth contains darkness. All truth is designed to reach toward the GREATER GOOD (for all).
You are beautiful.
You are loved.
You may be forgiven and you may offer forgiveness while keeping your integrity and boundaries intact.
I appreciate that you took the time to read my New Year’s message.
Remember that we ALWAYS have solutions and options available to us. We always have a CHOICE.

Too good not to repost...crazy how I almost forgot about station wagons--SO many families I knew had them when I was growing up, and everybody loved riding in the back (they'd always fight over the space!)
I was asked to make a tutorial on how I make my felted Yule goat ornaments!
Optional is stuffing herbs crystals etc inside the goat for extra oomph!
Step 1: make you guide out of cardboard or sturdy paper. Step 2: Lay on piece of doubled felt and cut along outline. Step 3 tie a knot on end of embroidery floss and pull through one side right at the neck. Step 4: not really a step, the side where the knot is will be the inside of the Yule goat to hide the knot. Step 5: bring both side together and use a whip stitch to loop along the edges from the neck forward and all along there whole thing until just past the tail. Step 6: leave enough room to put stuffing in the goat using a chopstick, wooden skewer etc. Step 7: once it is full of stuffing, finish sewing up the back to your first knot and tie off a knot to keep it from unraveling. Step 8: (optional) if you have enough excess, wrap the remaining floss around the neck until you have a just enough to tie a little bow. This wrapping helps hide your knots if they didn’t quite get finished correctly. Cut off excess and decorate your knew body with ribbon trim etc

...reminds me of the psychedelic artwork found in the dec arts in the late 60s/early 70s...
The Hong Kong/Mei thing is incredibly brilliant on the part of the protestors.
The PRC, whenever a fictional character or symbol becomes a symbol of resistance, protest, or ridicule to its ridiculous corporate fascism, tends to respond by banning the source materiel. It banned fuckin’ Winnie the Pooh because memers kept posting pictures of Pooh side-by-side with Xi Jinping in the same poses.
So in response to Blizzard deciding to get down on all fours and open wide for the PRC, the HK protest movement responded by trying to make Mei, a Blizzard character of Chinese origin, once of the faces of their movement. Should they succeed, this is a big win-win, because then the PRC has two choices. They can lower the boom, and ban Mei and/or Overwatch from China, which would be a big deal for Blizzard.
This, of course, will weaken the PRC’s hand with other corporations or entities going forward, because if you bow to Chinese pressure but China fucks you over anyway, why bother bending the knee?
Or they can ignore it, giving a protest movement an unbanned and quasi-legitimate rallying symbol. There’s no downside.
It’s especially brilliant because the PRC fuckin’ LOVES Mei-Ling Zhou. She’s precisely the face China wants to present to the west and to the developing world; a cheerful lover of science, socially responsible, benevolent, friendly, not at all crazy evil.
These are crazy times we live in, friends.

hey just a heads up/warning for those of you who don't do well dealing with the heavy subjects or videos portraying violent acts, sandyhook promise has a new gun violence school shooting PSA that is probably going to be going viral and is slated to play on television and in AMC movie theaters and it's pretty heavy, especially at the end. I know it's a topic that needs to be discussed but it's not a video that everyone will be able to watch, so just a warning for those of you that might not be able to handle it.
For when you're stuck watching like in a theater- When it begins to play, you will see kids talking about their binder or their other school supplies. When you see the boy with the skateboard, stop watching and plug your ears.
I think you should stop watching when you see this person saying "these colorful binders help me stay organized" because pretty much right after that there's some panic inducing stuff. The entire ad is 67 seconds long.

I get the hate for the US and I 100% agree with it, but honestly, the complete lack of compassion non-Americans have for us is staggering.
We’re mocked for not having healthcare, for having mass shootings, for being stuck in poverty, for not having liveable wages, for literally every tragedy that hits us.
And the people mocking us don’t understand or just don’t care that these aren’t our choices. The majority of Americans are pro-gun control. The majority of Americans are pro-universal healthcare. The majority of Americans want a higher minimum wage.
But what we want doesn’t matter because our votes don’t matter. Our voting machines are rigged, we can’t take time off of work or school to vote, politicians use gerrymandering to twist things in their favor, minorities (particularly Black people) suddenly find themselves unregistered right before elections, certain groups (mainly Black men) are kept from voting by charging them with felonies, etc. Even our votes for president don’t matter because the popular vote is only symbolic; the real decision is made by the Electoral College, an organization that is purposely shrouded to prevent people from understanding what it is. We don’t even get to choose our Electoral College representatives and we sure as hell can’t control who they vote for, even if they go against the popular vote.
We have no real control over politics in this country and it is genuinely fucking terrifying.
