When reporting takes over your life..
Watching a computer illiterate co-worker attempt to do "fix" a document
My resume.
Above is the group exercise schedule for Trophy Fitness Club - Addison. I revised the layout of the schedule to be aesthetically appealing and informative. The original schedule had different class times in the same column which could cause confusion. It also left holes in the schedule creating emptiness, and gave no explanation of the classes.
My revised version uses a list format making it easier to read. It also gives explanations of all the classes we offer at this location.
This is a business card I created for a friend. The colors gold, purple and red are a representation of Perry's two fraternities.
I created this card in Photoshop using gradients, layers, shapes and color replacement tools.
I created this flyer in April of 2013 for Dave Thompson, owner and founder of Camp Dave Fit, after we discussed how the information got lost because the flyer was too busy. Camp Dave Fit is a bootcamp style fitness program. Dave has a reputation for wearing neon colors with his logo, especially a fluorescent orange color.
I created this flyer in Photoshop. Changed the photo to black and white, then experimented with color changing. Instead of regular bullet points I used an image of a dumbbell. Dave is a passionate supporter of the American Diabetes Association so to help bring attention to that I left the logo of the ADA and the social media sites in color.
I created this web series during my second internship in the Student Activities Department at the University of North Texas. My partner did some shooting and the physical editing. I orchestrated the idea for each episode, scheduled guests and shot footage. This was probable my favorite and most stressful part of my internship.
I created this for no particular reason other than curiosity. It was created in Photoshop using shapes, gradients, mask tools and quite a few layers. The city in the background is Dallas. The city where I hope to get my start hence, "Start here."
Testimonials
To Whom It May Concern,
I am writing this letter to sing the praises of Shannon Raymond and her body of work. Shannon recently helped my fraternity create a flyer for an event that we were holding. I casually asked her if she could do it and within less than 48 hours she had the completely finished product. It was done quickly, professionally, and to all my design specifications. Along the way she kept me updated asking questions of what I wanted in the flyer. Media design is a large part of successful promotion and business, and often times I have dealt with people who make it the task more arduous than it needs to be. This was not the case with Shannon and her media design creations. I highly recommend Shannon to anyone who needs digital media assistance.

“My name is William Webster and writing into reference to the flyer that Shannon Raymond provided for my organization which is the NAACP. The flyer contained all the necessary dates for our meetings and as well as a brief description of our purpose. Shannon did an amazing job with the flyer and we continued to use her and her work. Shannon was amazing to work with all I needed to do was explain the general concept for the flyer and the rest was due to her creative spin. ” – William Webster, University of North Texas alumni

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Mending the Gap in Denton
Denton, TX—The Man 2 Man Program is a male mentorship program run by the University of North Texas chapter of the NAACP.
Formed February 2012, the program focuses on giving African American males in Denton High School a role model outside of sports.
All mentors must go through training to become certified. This training is offered through the chapter.
The chapter started this initiative because a lack of male participation was noticed both in the chapter and on the university campus. The belief behind this apathy is most African American males believe that if they aren’t a college athlete, they can’t be relevant on campus.
There are two goals of the program:
1) Encourage mentees to further their education past high school
2) Show that there are other ways to be relevant on campus without belonging to a college sports team
This program specifically focuses on the Denton area because the UNT chapter believes that Denton’s youth are often overlooked since it neighbors large cities, such as, Dallas and Fort Worth.
“We want to show the boys that if they join an on-campus organization it won’t hurt their reputation. It could actually improve it by opening up doors through networking,” said Bridgette Smith, president of the UNT chapter.
As of right now the program has six male mentors, but more are needed. If anyone is interested in becoming a mentor contact Michael Cotton on Twitter @UNTNAACP.

This is a brochure I created for a school project at UNT. The university chapter of NAACP was my "client" for the semester. I created this in InDesign.
Trust is like glass. Once broken you can try to fix it, but it'll never be the same as before.

I wrote this blog post during a former internship in Summer of '12 for Aria Agency in Dallas, TX. I explored how the ancient country of Greece was harnessing the use of social media to entice travelers to visit.
"If you happen to live in a bubble in a remote corner of the world with no Wi-Fi then maybe you haven’t heard much about Greece’s economic woes. Recently, Greece has been in the news for its poor economy, and the ever-present fear that the current crisis could led its citizens into a state of chaos. As a result, the tourism industry in Greece has taken a hit. Travelers are worried about their safety and hesitant to visit. Coupled with the fact that many people have been taking to social media and spreading false information about what is actually happening in Greece, the country needed to take steps to protect its brand through social media and boost visitor confidence.
Just two weeks ago, a USA Today article outlined out the concerns of Greece taking a significant tourism hit. From a story published on June 19, “according to one Greek official, tourism income could plunge as much as 15% this year, while some European travel agencies report that bookings have slumped by nearly a third.”
So, how does Greece reassure leery travelers it’s safe to visit? Their solution – find volunteers to monitor, manage and correct the “True Greece” through social media. The Greek National Tourism Organization launched TrueGreece.org to recruit volunteers to monitor its brand as a tourist destination, in their own words. According to the website, “TRUE GREECE is an initiative by the Greek National Tourism Organization, to shed light on Greece as a travel destination by providing a platform of official and reliable information. Through articles, official statements and real-life testimonials, you will see that Greece, undeniably, remains one of the greatest travel destinations in the world.”
The volunteers selected by the GNTO, are called True Supporters, and use social media to correct any false information they find in an effort to enhance the country’s image and give travel tips to tourists. True Supporters go through a screening process by the GNTO and have requirements such as being fluent in English and very familiar with social media.
It seems the True Supporters are doing their job. According to the International Herald Tribune, “The True Greece campaign has only had a week to make an impact. Despite its negative outlook on the sector, there are indications that bargain-hunters are already helping to keep visitor numbers up.”
Truegreece.org allows visitors to read true stories of fellow travelers, view video testimonials of actual visitors, and has a live feed of its social media streaming.
Truegreece.org was created with the goal of getting travelers to visit, but what happens when you get there? The GNTO, the Hotel Chamber of Greece and the London-based Vodafone have come together to create a free tourism app for Android smartphones called “Vodafone Explore Greece.”
The app has GPS capability allowing it to tell users what’s close by. It has information for specific beaches, historical data about local sites, accommodations, entertainment, dining suggestions and gives detailed maps. Don’t speak Greek? No problem. The app also has a basic Greek translation feature which includes sound. Users can also use the app to upload pictures to Facebook.
For a country known for its ancient origins, Greece is really stepping up in the digital world to help its struggling economy. I think it’s good that officials are stepping out of the box to promote the uniqueness of the country. Instead of just creating a commercial or something this campaign is a very direct way to correct any misinformation about Greece. In my opinion, people are looking for interaction with one another and that’s what makes the True Greece campaign noteworthy. Using volunteers to run the site rather than paid employees is also a nice touch. It gives the campaign a genuine feeling.
Do you think Greece’s approach will encourage travelers to visit it?"
I wrote this article about my undergraduate chapter's event called "Pillow Talk." It invited young women on campus to come and speak about issues such as allowing firearms on campus and discuss if we are our sisters keeper. It was published in the regional newsletter that goes out to undergraduate and graduate chapters in four states.
I wrote this article in Fall '11 as a student at the University of north Texas. The subject is the winner of the Miss Juneteenth pageant in Denton, TX. She is not a typical pageant girl, but a boxer driven to prove people's opinions wrong.
