unironically i think we need to bring back computer labs because APPARENTLY some people WERENT taught basic computer literacy and internet safety in school

things about computers/the internet i think kids should be formally taught in schools because theyre important to know and the amount of soon to be grown adults i know who know NOTHING about any of these is quite frankly almost all of them (and resources to learn if you dont know these things, because its never to late to get better with computers)

how to troubleshoot by yourself when you have a technical problem

what common file types are

some very basics on how to use ""developer tools"" on your computer (because i cant think of a better way to refer to them) like task manager and command prompt (and their mac equivalents, terminal and activity monitor ofc)

how to read and understand a privacy policy and what your personal data is, as well as what it being collected actually means and steps you can take to keep it private

how to understand terms of service (hey. if you have trouble with reading legalese and worry about being able to understand these policies anyways, here's a site that gives basic summaries of privacy policies and ToS)

what a cookie actually is

internet privacy and your digital footprint!! seriously i dont know why we stopped teaching people that they shouldnt be putting their entire real identity online in a world where your online actions can ruin you irl

basic safety measures like antivirus software (and why you should use it or if the built in one on windows or mac is enough for you) and backing up your computer (also a mac guide)

common keyboard shortcuts (and on mac)

as an additional note: things i think everyone should know on computers and the internet but schools may bit hesitant to teach about for whatever moral/legal standards schools pretend to operate on

vpns and adblockers! (btw for most of these where you can pay for things im purposefully not recommending any specific software but seriously just use ublock origin for an adblocker)

what a temporary email is and when to use one

red flags that you shouldn't trust a website (and how to quickly check the security of a site)

hey hahah put a finger down if you remember watching from the beginning and remember how excited you were to ship some hunk with the main female character and then you met the white cop who while he had his own flaws turned around and said “hey i don’t wanna be an ass so i’m making this right” and suddenly you didn’t want the hunk but instead wanted the white cop cause what man in his right mind gives another man pointers on how to fit in and be involved with a group of women about how to raise a child and then ALSO goes around giving up crucial evidence for that couple to get their child back but ALSO goes to the hospital RIGHT after the love of his life just gave birth and says “this isn’t about me or us it’s literally about you and your baby so this important speech i probably had planned to tell you that i still love you can wait because you need to focus on being a mommy now” meanwhile the hunk was going around stealing people’s fiancées and then turning around and RIGHT after birth tells his baby momma who happens to be the same woman that he wants to talk about them because that’s what important...after x hours after the birth of his child... and then you got excited because the cop and the main female FIANLLY got together and got married only for the handsome responsible emotionally mature cop you love so dearly to suddenly and out of nowhere get SHOT and then a few episodes later DIE and then you’re so sad and you do nothing but wish the main girl the best because no matter how flaky and indecisive she is about her love life she still went through heartbreak over her husband’s death and so when she gets with the hunk you approve it and watch her fall in love more and more and then the hunk finds out her husband is still alive and has sex with her one last time before actually telling her and then spends the next few episodes doing nothing but pressuring her to divorce him officially even though she’s grieving all over again and kicking her out of their shared apartment without giving her options of him leaving or a few days for her to get her stuff all because said husband doesn’t remember her and now the love story you’ve built around cop and main is ruined just for a stupid love story that didn’t make sense besides telling everyone that the only love that matters is the biological ones that make the family and basically stepdads ain’t shit and now you’re upset and crying at 2pm in the middle of someone’s office because you’ve been watching it trying to make sense of where it all went wrong but the only thing you can do now is wish cop the best and cry because they basically told us that the kind of bestfriend fairy tale love that we all wish for isn’t shit and it doesn’t exist forever hahah. put a finger dow—
