Seems to be bunny in the trough Thursday
this is my fave post on this whole website
a lie, a lullaby
saw someone talking about a trans woman they used to know who was "housebound because of her anxiety" who would go down conspiratorial rabbit holes and develop delusions...
and then he was like "interestingly I've never met a transmasc or nonbinary person who was like this š¤š¤š¤"
and like...? you already identified the reason, didn't you? of course trans women are more likely to develop a debilitating fear of being in public??
for a year I had a roommate who was a trans woman like this, and I will admit that by the end of that year my patience was worn all the way through several times over, but I can't for a second tell you it didn't make sense. she had an incredibly traumatic history of homelessness that had wrecked her health, and she was much more visibly trans than I. the only people who would tolerate her, for the most part, were using her, and when she put her foot down about that, she was left with no one
the world had proven itself incredibly hostile to her, and though I tried to help her overcome this, it became clearer and clearer over time that I was speaking to her from a place of relative privilege, even as another trans woman. the world really was different for her than it was for me
transmisogynized people (black transmisogynized people especially!) are killed at incredibly high rates compared to people who are TME, both by murderers and by ourselves. this is reflective of a world that outright fucking hates us. if you need an explanation as to why some of us are so paranoid it destroys us... there you go?
just another of the million reasons I'm over the "oppression olympics" claims when trans women talk about transmisogyny. if you shut your eyes to the unique oppression we face then of course we look like a bunch of needlessly combative, paranoid fucks. without an understanding of transmisogyny, the answer to "I wonder why I've never met a trans man who's like this" is "I guess trans women are just inherently irrational"
like a chicken with its head cut off
(losing a trinket important to me): itās just plastic. Itās just material. Someone else will find it and itāll brighten up their day. If i really want to i can replace it. Loss is natural in love. Life isnāt fair and iāll tear up earth and sky if i knew i could find you again under the covers of my pillows. But like, itās $16.67 to replace. Iām okay.
you have to realize that you CAN keep everything perfect and safe, but youāll never get to fully enjoy them. Sweaters get stretched. Stuffed animals get worn. Earrings get lost. and love turns to grief. If i want to be happy, i have to know that sadness is the little brother who holds her hand.
Nvm. Trinket was found and iām now keeping it locked up forever so i canāt ever lose it again

If youāre using Skype you should dump it and get Discord instead!
Pros:
Cleaner, easier to navigate interface
Free servers for more permanent group chat things (way easier to hop in and out of chats)
You can actually have different nicknames on each server if you want
Is actually well built and doesnāt make your computer yearn for death
Stuff coming down the pipeline soon according to devs:
Video chat
Linux client
Cons:
All your friends arenāt on it
But you can change that
Download it. Itās great and itās only getting better.Ā Itās aimed at gamers but it has nearly all the functionality of Skype and then some.
Since Discord first became a thing, it has added:
friends lists
group chats
changeable statuses
search function
and a hell of a lot more! Ā Also this is a huge shout out to any of my friends who still use Skype ā I donāt use it, I use Discord. Ā Mail me and Iāll shoot you my details :)
Also the audio quality is just way better and more consistent than Skypeās.
Discord uses itās own servers to host calls instead of relying on a user host like skype :0

REAL masculinity is about [traits and behaviors that anyone can have that youre gendering for reasons that are ultimately misogynistic]
Ok so let me clarify my point here: Youre stupid
in seriousness though there is no way to position a "virtuous" ideal of masculinity to supplant patriarchal ideals of masculinity without reaffirming those patriarchal ideals. straight up you need to stop thinking "am i being a Man correctly? am i performing Masculinity right?" or "that guy isnt being a REAL man because hes not KIND or whatever" no matter what specific way you define masculinity
