â â the unforgiven.
msuwillâ:
it was good to see cam again. no matter what else was going on, there was still that moment where he was looking at him and it felt like home again. will does everything he can not to focus on the bad stuff going on in his life because if he allows it in even a little bit, it will consume himâ thatâs not something he can afford. he prefers to keep things lighthearted, so he can trick himself and everyone around him into thinking heâs a lot stronger and more capable than he genuinely is. now that he will be around cam again, thatâs more important than it was before.
so, he does one of the things that he does best; he puts on a smile and avoids the seriousness of the situation at any cost. âthis place is full of smart girls, right? i figured i could score a few numbers hanging out in here.â he knows thatâs not what cam was asking. he didnât care why he was in the library, he wanted to know why he traveled thousands of miles and was standing in front of him after two years. but, will didnât want to give him the answer to that. âwhatâs there to do for fun around here?â despite him trying to act so casual, as if it hasnât been a day since theyâd been in the same space as one another, he had a good feeling cam wasnât going to let this go so easily.
on a list of things cam had expected, coming face to face with his brother in the school library had to be towards the bottom of the list. even now, he wasnât sure what emotion he should be feeling, yet he couldnât shake this uneasy feeling in his gut. cam was alert, on edge, and he was trapped in an endless cycle of letting his guard down only to build it up again. he waited for a serious answer from his brother, though he wasnât the least bit surprised when he was met with a joke, of all things.
âseriously?â he muttered under his breath, gaze fixated on his brother as if he was a ghost. âcan you try to be serious for a minute?â it was a lot to ask, but cam felt like he deserved an actual explanation. why was his brother here, and why now? âdonât get me wrong, itâs good to see you,â he added in an attempt to ease any tension. âbut why are you here? and you know that iâm not talking about the library.â
