"you get behind me," she sputters, with a pout and a raised eyebrow. "i've been doing this for far longer than you have, if you really think about it."
"now is not the time to really argue" Amy tilted her head, but it was true, Donna had more experience than she did, which was something Amy was seeing as a threat, not that she'd admit it. "fine"
The Doctor was thinking if they should give it a go or not. Part of him didn't want to but part of him did. He nodded when he listened to Amy. "I can stay for a while." The Doctor said. "I would love to see Rory too." He told her.
She released a breath she hadn't realised she'd been holding, since the doctor had just randomly popped up the only real worry on her mind was that he would disappear as fast as he'd came. Hearing that he'd stay released a build up of tension, she reached for him and pulled the doctor into an embrace. "I'm sure he'll love to see you too"
trying my best to be here more but every time I log on to do something it's head empty no thoughts. I have a lot on my mind at the moment so that's probably why but hopefully soon I'll have things in a better order!
As much as The Doctor knew that he shouldn't, he was really thinking he could. It even made him think of Rose. If someone had giving him the chance to go over and bring her back from the parallel world, he would be thinking the same as he did now. "But what if we can't? Beat the impossible?"
Amy didn't want to think about the possibility of failure, not yet. "we won't try it right away.. as long as you have time to stay a while, Rory is working and I know he'll want to see you" even if it was for one last time. Rory didn't get to make the choice before, he didn't get to say his goodbye.
"Donna, the universe is huge. Why do you think you call space, space, eh? Because it's a big space!"
The Doctor paused, gears shifting in his mind. An idea struck and he wondered if swapping footwear might help the situation. Not that he intended to wear flip-flops; instead, he planned on launching them into the nearest bin and proceeding in his socks.
"How big are your feet?"
"well all the more reason to park closer to your destination with how huge everything is" she bit back.
"how big are my feet?" she repeated. "are you saying that I have big feet?" Donna looked down at her UK sizes sevens, sure the looked a little big in some shoes but right now they were bare as anything. "a seven is the average size you know"
Jenny paused for half a second when Donna snapped at her about her memory of all things, but there was no time for that yet. First there was the running. Possibly getting slapped by Donna if she avoided more questions that badly. "Dunno, far? About to find out!" she answered, half yelling and hating herself for the thrill she felt, the fun she still found just because in trouble - Donna's presence, such a light, certainly didn't help her choke that feeling down.
Far turned out to be the back of a small shop, so that they'd at least be out of sight, and Jenny only waited for Donna to come in before starting to push a crate to barricade them in for a moment. "There, easy peasy... What do you mean you had your memory wiped and put back? Where was my-where was the Doctor in all this? Is that even a thing?" Was she even alright now, that was the question.
"we've run a mile just to hide out in the back of a SHOP?" Donna was confused and unsure on why she was letting this woman lead them both in the first place. Maybe she wasn't evil or and alien.. but that also didn't mean she was smart? or.. smarter than her, either way now was too late to be doubting the place they'd ran into, she was already by the other woman's side helping to clear and entry.
That was before she was ambushed with a bunch of questions, "well actually the doctor was the one who took the memories away.. it was a whole thing and anyway" Donna was shaking her head, "you have so many questions for a woman you've just met. It's almost like you care about me or something"
The Doctor could imagine that Amy and Rory were always worried about River. He would be the same with Jenny if she was around. Of course, he had no idea she was out there, travelling. Hearing Amy ask about taking them back. He knew that he had said that he couldn't see them again, but here he was. As for taking them away from here, that was something else. "I...I don't know."
"but we could try ? beat the impossible one more time?" Amy was so hopeful and she knew deep down that was a dangerous thing to be. The doctor had rescued her so many times whilst she'd been travelling with him but this? even she knew he didn't have a proper answer.
"Now, I am on my fourteenth incarnation." The Doctor told her. He knew that even though she didn't have the whole metacrisis thing going on now, she still knew some things that she wouldn't have before. "You can say that again."
"since you're going to avoid all of my questions about how you've been, how about we just get back to doing what we do best?" travelling and having a laugh. She'd need time to process that those memories were gone for fifteen years but there was no time like the present to start making new ones.
The Doctor had heard that many times since the first time he had met her. He watched as she put the photo where she had found it. He kept his eyes on her. "I'm not sure. I mean..." He waved his hand as if to say about the whole regeneration he had recently been though.
"right! that - sorry you must still be tired, do you sleep ?" it was taking her a minute to get her thoughts straight it was like suddenly River had so many questions for him that she'd never thought of before. "I'll set the TARDIS to orbit for while" a tour around the universe didn't sound too bad.
SO APPARENTLY I forgot to un-pause my queue over here! so I've now done that and replies shall start posting again lol
"She is." The Doctor told her. "I haven't seen her since the incarnation before this one but I know she is okay." He told her. Of course he didn't say about what had happened the last time he had this face. There was no way he would tell her that. Hearing Amy say that she had to ask him something, he nodded. "What do you want to ask me?" He asked.
River's safety would always be one of Amy's main priorities, and not being able to check in on her own terms had been driving her and Rory mad but finally they had a little closure. "you're here now.. can you take us back? I know our lives will never be the same as they were but there must be a way doctor. We've spent most of our lives waiting"
The Doctor should have realized that she would have said that. He looked at her. He was glad he could tell her. Now that she could remember again. "Well, Clara started to travel with me when I was in my Eleventh incarnation." He started. He had a frown on his face because before that, it had been Amy and Rory.
"and what number are you up to now?" she knew how the timelord thing worked having had the meta crisis in her brain, Donna still had some of that knowledge even after letting it go. Somethings just wouldn't be forgotten. "time works differently for you doctor- I know that much"
Good question, how was she going to explain 'sort of'? Jenny wondered where her supposedly excellent brain had gone. "I know you are the Doctor's loyal friend. And that you are brilliant," she answered honestly, because in the end she knew she was going to fail if she tried lying to Donna while so overwhelmed by her presence.
"He..." she hesitated, looking at the crowd just in case she'd spot the familiar, odd hair, "He saved me. He saved everyone I know." And you were there, she thought, smiling despite herself, and feeling the threat of tears - oh, that was so strange - blurring her vision.
There was a small explosion then, just as she was opening her mouth to speak more, and Jenny jumped in surprise, unexpected panic bubbling up at the thought that Donna was near danger without her father there to help. The chaos and screaming was starting, and it was only going to come closer. "Donna, Donna, listen to me: I was chasing a Sontaran, a hostile alien, and if he calls for backup and they realize you are the Doctor's friend, they'll try to get you. I know you don't reme-know this face, I know you have no reason to trust me, but please, just this once, come with me. I'll answer any question you have, but we need to run first!"
Donna held back from rolling her eyes but the brunette seemed to be stating the obvious of things she already knew, "he does that a lot.. saves people" which meant this woman could be just about anybody from the doctors past. "HOW do you know who I am?" the redhead asks again but before she could get an answer the area is rocked by the explosion which seemed to have come from the direction the doctor had wandered off into.
"don't try and talk to me about remembering , I had my memory wiped and put back. If we had met before I would know about it"
"and I know what a Sontaran is" already preparing to run. Other than the other woman's strange amount of knowledge Donna had no other reason to believe she was suspicious or working for the other team. "where are we running too?"
The Doctor watched her pretty much skipping around the console. He gave her a look when she said about when he said usually. He noticed her stop and he was going to ask if she was okay when he heard what she said. "It is."
"spoilers" she smirked giving a shrug of the shoulder before returning it back to where she'd found it. River was good at that, hiding her emotions when something had made her uneasy. The photo was of a time she hadn't experienced yet, with a face she was yet to meet. "so where are we going"
The Doctor knew that when he had seen her before that incarnation regenerated, it was just his mind. But it did seem so real to him at the time. At the mention of River, he nodded. "I have. Not since I have had this face." He added. Although of course he had the last time he had this face. He wasn't going to mention that though as she didn't even know him last time.
"she's okay isn't she?" Amy pushed a little further. River was a grown woman, at least the version of her that Amy knew best. Their life was always far more than complicated, but the redhead still worried for River. How she was getting along with her stormcage sentence, and whether she'd found herself in any other mysteries. "I have to ask you something, doctor"
"Donna, I said we were going out for a snack. What did you expect?"
It was as if she didn't grasp his penchant for getting his nose stuck into other people's business.
"And who wears flip flops off the beach?"
Ah, yes, the famous Nerys. He knew he couldn't exactly judge Donna's choice in friends, considering that she chose him as a friend, but that didn't stop him from pulling a face at the name.
"you have a time machine that can land almost where-ever you want! excuse ME for thinking you'd park in the same COUNTY as the place you wanted to visit"
She hated Nerys, but Donna was limited on friends, her life as an ordinary human was still nothing special.
"I do" well she did when she thought it was just going to be a quick stop. Donna probably would have been faster with no shoes at all, but walking barefoot was always like playing with fire.
