Something but talk enough and in both books and fandom is how Nightheart I feel struggles with trying to know a father he never got to meet.
Its honestly why im not all that much a fan of when people add a little orange to his pelt trying to justify his naming(as if naming in warriors 100% makes sense to the appearance of the character all the time anyway-) because he is described looking exactly like Larksong.
The main difference is I don't think we get Larksong's eye color. But both are described as night-black.
Nightheart lost a father and brother before he could even open his eyes, than his mother was too far in depression to properly raise him and his sister, when she was able to actually attempt to be a mother to them again than Impostorstar came up. Impostorstar in directly threatens to hurt night or finch(Night is seen shrinking away during the discussion so he clearly knew what Impostorstar was implying-) then most of his family on his mom side, including his mom and sister are exciled. All he has is his foster family and grandmother/ mentor.
And we know from the books that she told him about Larksong. In fact from what we see and can gather she's the only one who ever tells him about Larksong.
Everything is trying to settle down again after Impostorstar, and suddenly more than ever he's being compared to Firestar. A cat his mom never even knew. He brings up multiple times that he doesn't even look like Firestar in the slightest.
And i feel that should've been explored more. Because if I nearly lost majority of my family, including my mom who just barely was starting to pull herself out of depression to be a mother to me again after my father's death, only for her to compare me to a cat she never knew herself? Yeah I think id be ticked.
Lot of people bring up reason she might've been upset at him changing his name was cause Lark and Her chose those names together.
But why we know that might be the reason, there's know indication anyone has told Night that from what I remember.
The only other cat to recognize he looks like Lark is Bramblestar(who he has a attachment with throughout the books afterwards) who notes how much he looks like Larksong when he names him Nightheart.
Again,Sparkpelt doesn't acknowledge that. Instead she's upset with him over changing his name.
I wished that all that was handled differently. It's clearly Sparkpelt is clinging to the legacy of Firestar for something to focus on instead of everything else she went through, but Nightheart is grasping at any real connection with his actual parents and family and her not talking about Lark at all, even getting upset over him being renamed,despite the fact Bramblestar based his new prefix off how much he looks like his father, upsets him.
It would've been interesting to expand on that, or even Night actually meeting his father. Honestly i know the arc focused mostly on the main characters mommy issues- but Honestly wished there was lil more moments about the fathers.
Also just- Nightheart getting upset that cat from seasons ago is more remember than his father even by those closest to him- As if he's less worth remembering cause he wasn't this big important leader-
