I GOT A FUCKING RAISE THE POTATO WORKED WTF
This potato works. Every. Fucking. Time.
Then bring me luck
the day after I posted this last time I was notified that I was selected for a really cool mentorship gig and got an unrelated glowing review at work
*grabbing mlm shippers by the shoulders* guys nobody needs to be the twink. nobody needs to be the sub. nobody needs to be the femboy. they can both be big fat hairy men who bask in each others masculinity or they can both be unspeakable monstrous creatures with inhuman genitalia it’s okay I’m holding your hand. Let me show you the way
that horse drawing meme but its falin
Thats just how Laios draws
kabru is so fucking funny. he’s out here playing 15 dimensional manipulation mind chess with a guy whose hobby is barking like a dog
And he's losing.
all goofing aside I genuinely don't understand the urge to reimagine Taylor Allison Swift as a secretly queer icon when the pop music scene(TM) is like. literally overflowing with women who actually like women. Gaga and Kesha and Miley and Halsey are right there. Rina Sawayama and Hayley Kiyoko and Rebecca Black and Kehlani and Victoria Monét and Miya Folick if you're willing to get slightly less top 100. Janelle and Demi for them nonbinary takes on liking girls. like what are we doing here. like I'm not even saying you can't enjoy Taylor but why would you hang all your little gay hopes on her.
Isn’t Lady Gaga bisexual?
yes that is indeed why she's on the list of famous women who like women
why have multiple people reblogged this with some horse-assed "um actually most of these people are bi or pan" did I fucking stutter I said they like girls. what is your point. I'm going to kill you.
#op probably has this post muted but the icon is too real.
the icon is because of this post
POV: you make a good post and then encounter tumblr reading comprehension
btw to just clarify for anyone who sees this reblog of this post
op is basically saying something along the lines of "yea ik taylor swift is bi but like. why is she y'all's only lgbtq+ pop icon when there are all these other lgbtq+ people in the pop scene???"
i might have worded this badly but hopefully i got the main point across
hi op here I certainly did not fucking say Taylor Swift is bi
Op is saying that liking Taylor for being QUEER or Lgbtqia+ is not a bad thing, but to also know she is not the only one.
He did not call anyone in the original post lesbian bi or pan.
He did call two people NB
you have to be fucking with me there's no way
#Op you gonna have to make a graph
on it:
#I think it’s so funny I got that damn Taylor swift ad underneath this#anyways this is reminding me of that makeup post from way back when#where someone was saying no makeup is a valid way to wear your face and everyone kept insisting that you only need like….4 products
yeah that was also my post
this was the glass jar guy verbatim
I'm afraid to ask.. what happened? 😬
Are you fucking kidding me
Have some more screen caps, courtesy of @aita_reddit
Fuck this is so disgusting
This post is a fucking Pandora's box of awful
Oh my God. This gets worse every time I see it!
This is why I live alone. I don’t want to be remembered as a murderer, and I’d kill each and every one of these jerks.
It’s so interesting to see these men carefully plan and go out of their way to ruin something harmless and fun, like put real effort into it, and then go “it’s just [x]”
Like if it was JUST socks or an app or a blanket or some jars, why did it BOTHER you so much?
Because it was a symbol of your s/o not being entirely dependent on you, on getting happiness outside of you, of being their own human with their own feelings. And you KNOW that deep down, or else you wouldn’t have gone to such effort to sabotage it.
Good news! Prom picture (ex) fiancée called off the wedding and broke up with the asshole who shredded her picture!
And the woman whose high school poetry got stolen and used in the asshole's song made a throwaway account to publically dump him and drag him over his shitty music
Oh, and colorful mismatched socks girlfriend? She dumped the proper-sock obsessed asshole too
I've seen this post before and I always wanted closure so I googled them to see if I could get it. I think it's important to show that these assholes fucked around and found out, and that these girls are now free to look for partners who actually care about their feelings!
It's never too late to ditch someone that makes you feel inadequate, childish or silly just for doing things that bring you joy.
We have limited time on this bitch of an earth and you sure as hell shouldn't waste it with a partner that puts you down. You can find better. You deserve better.
Hey, if your current partner reminds you of ANY of these men, please take this as your sign to leave. If your partner destroys what is harmless and what you enjoy, they are an asshole and you do not want to spend the rest of your life with that. You can break things off.
yayyy another g4g prompt
i could do anything as long as it was sfw moshang, so sqh sharing gossip with mbj it is!
YOU GET THE FUCK BACK HERE AND EXPLAIN THAT RIGHT NOW
well damn
Me: *strapped to a chair in a cold interrogation room with a middle aged man pacing back and forth*
Him: *projects a picture of Sam and Frodo on to the wall* What is their relationship?
Me: Their ship is valid and very cute, but we should also consider the idea that their admiration and respect for one another is a deep, platonic bond. Love doesn't always have to be romantic, and it is important for men to be able to express their platonic care for one another in a way that toxic masculinity doesn't currently allow.
Him: Okay *projects a picture of Legolas and Gimli* what's their relatio-
Me: They're fucking.

It puzzles me when people cite LOTR as the standard of “simple” or “predictable” or “black and white” fantasy. Because in my copy, the hero fails. Frodo chooses the Ring, and it’s only Gollum’s own desperation for it that inadvertently saves the day. The fate of the world, this whole blood-soaked war, all the millennia-old machinations of elves and gods, comes down to two addicts squabbling over their Precious, and that is precisely and powerfully Tolkien’s point.
And then the hero goes home, and finds home a smoking desolation, his neighbors turned on one another, that secondary villain no one finished off having destroyed Frodo’s last oasis not even out of evil so much as spite, and then that villain dies pointlessly, and then his killer dies pointlessly. The hero is left not with a cathartic homecoming, the story come full circle in another party; he is left to pick up the pieces of what was and what shall never be again.
And it’s not enough. The hero cannot heal, and so departs for the fabled western shores in what remains a blunt and bracing metaphor for death (especially given his aged companions). When Sam tells his family, “Well, I’m back” at the very end, it is an earned triumph, but the very fact that someone making it back qualifies as a triumph tells you what kind of story this is: one that is too honest to allow its characters to claim a clean victory over entropy, let alone evil.
“I can’t recall the taste of food, nor the sound of water, nor the touch of grass. I’m naked in the dark. There’s nothing–no veil between me and the wheel of fire. I can see him with my waking eyes.”
So where’s this silly shallow hippie fever-dream I’ve heard so much about? It sounds like a much lesser story than the one that actually exists.
+1 You know how Frodo leaves Sam with the legacy of the quest - the job of bearing witness to what happened - and the duty to finish and protect his writings? Tolkien lost all but one of his friends in WW1. He was founder member of a literary club at school - the TCBS. There was a larger group and a core of four. They all stayed friends, they kept writing and sharing their work with each other. And they were almost all killed. One of them, Geoffrey Smith, wrote this to Tolkien in 1916. My chief consolation is that if I am scuppered tonight – I am off on duty in a few minutes – there will still be left a member of the great T.C.B.S. to voice what I dreamed and what we all agreed upon. […] May God bless you my dear John Ronald and may you say things I have tried to say long after I am not there to say them if such be my lot. And that was his last letter. There’s something eerie about the way he seems to have pegged Tolkien as an eventual survivor. Sam’s survival (and his emergence as the true hero of the book) are beautiful because they’re suffused with loss, because they’re not the grand conquering heroic narrative that on some level was “supposed” to happen.
Tolkien possibly only survived because he got trench fever - a particularly nasty disease carried by lice - and got sent home because he was desperately ill. Considering how the rest of his unit fared, it probably saved his life. Unpleasant and unglamorous, but if not for that, we wouldn’t have LOTR. I’m sure survivor’s guilt was a factor - as was a sickening sense of dread when “The War to End All Wars” didn’t, and his son went off to WWII.
TLOTR has some of the type of valorization of war that you find in the Old Norse and Anglo-Saxon literature that JRRT loved and studied and taught because he loved that style and it’s deeply fitting for cultures like the Rohirrim, but it’s also full of the slog of war, the waste and tragedy, and the irrevocable damage that even victorious survivors carry for the rest of their lives. Frodo’s symbolic “death” is also resonant for survivors of what was called “shell-shock” then and PTSD now.
I mean, it’s not Game of Thrones. It’s not gritty in the same way. But the protagonist of LOTR was minor gentry from a backwater nobody’d heard of, and the REAL hero who saved the world by saving him was his gardener. All the great kings and queens and lords and ladies in the story are background characters compared to the story of the little people. Literally little people, but symbolically too.

You know, one time I read a fanfic and it triggered my psychosis, sent me into a month long episode THEN a whole year later I was on ao3 just mindlessly scrolling, I came across the fanfic title and it gave me a panic attack, but something compelled me to click it, i didn't read it but i did scroll through it, why? mental illness.
So like... ya
This is me responding to your old(?) post about someone else's fiction not being able to hurt you, this is probably just a me thing but mental illness makes you do things and react to things in insane ways that sometimes you cant control. I knew while reading that it was affecting me in some way, but I kept reading because well, I'm mentally ill, and then a month of my life dissapeared lol
I think I'm trying to make a point about something but I'm not sure
I did after the fact comment to the author and just kinda, told them about what happened, but I didn't harrassed them or something, -
-but when something does what this fanfiction did to me then you're basically obligated to let the creator know I think(they are a really good writer), I'm an adult and the fanfic was in the ballpark of something I would read and if like, 59% of it was taken out and it had a happy ending I would be fine but oh well
Oh boy, I'm starting to have a panic attack just typing this out holy hell anyways uh, I'm not disagreeing with you(?) but I am saying, don't be too quick to dismiss someone who says a piece of fiction fucked with them? idk sorry, have a good one
My friend, the fiction didn't harm you.
Your mental illness harmed you.
Random writers on the internet are not responsible for managing your mental illness for you.
You are responsible for managing your mental illness.
I knew while reading that it was affecting me in some way, but I kept reading because well, I'm mentally ill
This is self harm. You were engaging in self-harming behavior by continuing to read a fanfiction that you knew was triggering to you.
👉 You are responsible for managing your mental illness.
👉 Writers are not responsible for managing your mental illness for you.
And I hate to tell you this but messaging the author about it was absolutely harassing the author.
This is so real. If the Author is someone I know who personally sent me this, there would be grounds to say "Hey. This triggered me. Please be more considerate of how these things could affect me." But even then, you don't really have the ability to police what they write. Just what they send you.
Ao3 has so many works. If they didn't Tag something that you specifically knew would hurt you, then you could tell them to please tag those things. If they chose/choose not to tag it, for any reason/lack thereof, you don't have authority to do anything else.
Otherwise sending them an awareness(?) comment is nothing but a guilt trip. They did not write the content to hurt you. They wrote the content for whatever reason they had and probably a little passion and chose to share it hoping that it would vibe with some people or something. You are not a part of those people if it hurt you, because they aren't writing with malice.
If someone told me that my writing gave them psychosis, it wouldn't stop me from being interested in the things I write. It would make me feel like a terrible cruel horrible person and maybe kill my passion for writing. If that's what you're going for, then that makes you the bad person. It is never okay to imply that someone should stop doing something they enjoy.
Obviously mental health is difficult and knowing something is affecting you ≠ processing that 'this is hurting me and I need to stop'
But in no way is that the author's fault? It's a lack of recognition on your part, which doesn't even really sound like your fault either. It's an issue that you should try to consider moving forward but that isn't something anyone would blame you for. But, saying 'I did it because I'm mentally ill, which is something that i cant control' doesn't justify telling a stranger something that could make their own life go downhill if they take it personally.
Nobody is obligated to cater to your needs, but you have the ability to excersize restraint on what/who you indulge in.
a lot of you need to be a lot more chill about cishet passing people and couples still being part of the queer community
its happened to a friend recently and ive seen plenty of people including streamers/youtubers etc have the same thing happen over and over again, where they put the LGBT label on their streams or a pride flag in their bio and then they get people demanding to know every detail of their identity.
if you see a guy online with his girlfriend and he has a pride flag in his bio and your first reaction is to question whether hes even allowed to put that there, log off. the guy could be bi, could be trans, could be nb, could be literally any queer identity at all and it doesnt matter. its none of your fucking business. he could also just be an ally showing support, its none. of your. business.
you are not the queer police and it is not your job to make sure everyone in the queer community has the properly documented justification for being part of it. touch grass. you need to be normal about not knowing everyones labels and identities and about people keeping those private.
cishet passing people have always existed and will always exist within the queer community, they are our family and belong with us.
You are not the queer police!
also! queer people have been having kids for quite a number of years now! that guy could be the cishet-iest dude in the world but have been raised by lesbians, just like my oldest son!
this gatekeeping is poison. it is poison. stop it. you can't gatekeep the community without excluding people who need it.
What I want:
To not have people demanding that I justify who I am or who I fuck.
How I will get it:
I will constantly demand that people justify who they are or who they fuck.
CAN YOU SEE THE PROBLEM YET?!?!?
