Same here! Even if it's something I love I still enjoy picking apart all the things that might be wrong with it. Just because I have something negative to say doesn't mean I dislike the piece of media ffs!

I especially like it when I critique my favorite media (not by my standards but analysing what the story did and tried to do/how they tried to execute it) and I find it is actually well done for itself and any complaints I might have are actually light nitpicks; therefore, I am content.

When I do critique it by my standards and tastes specifically, the imagination runs wild with possibilities and fanmade work ideas. Then I fall into a rabbit hole and get inspired for a original story. (Possibly)

I'm the same way. Creative work is like a puzzle to me. Getting into the meat of that puzzle helps me fully appreciate it. I can see everything the creator did, and even if the work isn't for me, I have a huge respect for the work and effort that went into it. It's why I love watching analysis videos so much (so long as they aren't overly uncharitable).
