Went mushroom hunting 2 weeks ago looking for hen of the woods and chicken of the woods. I didn’t find any, but found these and I was so excited! That teenie tiny mushroom and the purple ones were my favorite. I believe the purple ones are Viscid Violet Cort (CORTINARIUS IODES). Made pine cone syrup the other day using spruce cones. . This was fun to make, but took a total of 3 hours to make between cooking and cooling in between. . I did try a piece of the small pine one after cooking, but I did not like it, of course, it tasted like I thought a pine cone would. . The syrup though....quite yummy indeed.
