This is weirdly cute and enchanting

Separation of young children, in fact any children, from their carer is child abuse, and I would love to see those who initiated and implemented this policy charged with this offence.
We need a new hell for the monsters who implemented this policy.
Massive massive attachment injury. Itâs damage that can impact your whole life
what is the best way to explain to someone why all cops are bastards and not just "bad cops" or "American cops"
Okay, this is going to be a longer explanation.
If Iâm going to be honest here, I think that anarchists often oversell this notion, mostly due to a totally legitimate emotional response to oppression that people endure at the hands of the state. This is why youâll often find really frustrating arguments between anarchists and other people that look something like this:
Person: âWell my uncle is a cop, and heâs a nice guy, and he puts his life on the line every day so stop generalizing a whole group of people due to the few bad onesâ
Anarchist: âFuck your uncle, itâs not my fault he decided to be a pigâ
Person: âWell, I never! *huffs away*â
And nobody ever gets anywhere. The problem here is that when anarchists say âAll cops are bastards,â what anarchists actually mean is âthe role of a cop is systemically and inherently immoral, since they violently enforce the power of the ruling class at the severe disadvantage to the poor and marginalized, sometimes including murdering the poor and marginalized with zero repercussions.â And I suppose anarchists could just say that every single time, but it is easier to just say âall cops are bastards.â
But letâs examine that second sentence for a bit. Due to a lot of popular media presentations (like Law & Order), cops are often presented as these heroic figures that do mostly good things like protect people from murderers and stop child predators. But the reality is, the vast majority of things a cop does is not like that at all. You could probably even ask a cop and they would agree with the notion that most of their job is not like that. In fact, the vast majority of things a cop does is enforcing pointless bureaucracy that only serves the ruling classes and oppresses the poor for no reason. You could even say that all a cop really is is a bureaucrat with access to military grade weaponry, and you would be pretty on the nose.
For an example, lets talk about the disparate response to two actually common occurrences that cops often are called in to help with. In one case, we have domestic violence, and in another case, we have someone who is driving a car without a license plate. Okay.
So, if somebody calls the police to help with a domestic abuse situation, often times the cops donât show up until the domestic abuse has already gotten way out of hand. The person being abused has already been harmed to some serious degree. So the police didnât do anything to actually prevent the abuse. Once the police do show up, sometimes the person who is being abused is disbelieved, or the police decide that both sides are to blame. Sometimes the abused person isnât even taken out of harms way of the abuser. If the abused person is believed, then they have to file a bunch of paper work, find a shelter, occasionally pay for a hotel or some other place to go, and generally go through tons of hoops of bureaucracy in order to actually leave harms way. And the police officer is there the entire time ensuring that the proper bureaucratic steps are followed. Thatâs really their job. Thatâs their actual role in the case of a domestic abuse. They have to make sure that all of the proper paperwork is correctly filed and the steps are taken just so. This is why I said in a previous post that 24-hr womenâs shelters and other forms of help against domestic abuse do far more to actually combat domestic abuse than any cop has ever done. Because they are just helping for the sake of helping rather than being the bureaucrat.
Compare this to driving without a license plate. If you drove around town in a car without a license plate, there would be a cop on your tail probably within 15-30 minutes maximum. And if you refused to do what he said, you would probably be handcuffed and whisked off to jail and you would probably be charged with multiple crimes, including possibly resisting arrest, which is a felony. All of that for just not having a license plate on your vehicle and then not doing what the cop asked. None of those things have anything to do with helping anybody. They are just bureaucratic rules put in place by the ruling class. But cops are way more likely to be found enforcing rules like that then actually helping anybody. Because that is their actual job. They are the violent arm of the bureaucratic state.
And all of this without even bringing up the fact that they also have access to military grade weaponry that they can basically use at their own discretion, for any reason, with no real risk of repercussion. And the laws and regulations of the state change all of the time - and cops are basically just told to enforce those rules, no matter what they are. So in a neoliberal capitalist state, they are bureaucrats with access to military grade weapons. But in a fascist state, they easily become concentration camp operators or SS officers. And their role never really changes. They are just the violent enforcers of the state bureaucracy.
So when you have somebody who has an uncle who is a cop, or a cousin, or a parent, or whatever - that is really neither here nor there. Your uncle might be a nice guy who wanted to be a cop to help people. Iâm not saying that isnât true. I have no way of knowing if that is true. All Iâm saying is he isnât actually helping people. That isnât his job. His job is to enforce a bureaucracy that disproportionately benefits the ruling class and oppresses the poor and marginalized.
Itâs fucking prison camps holding 1,400 children. thatâs fascism.Â
Iâm so fucking ashamed to be american. We have children in concentration camps.
a LOT of slasher flicks from the 70s and 80s strike me as sexually violent revenge fantasies against womenâs growing independence at the time tbh
Siskel and Ebert beat you to it in 1980âŠ. Part One
Part Two
I had also added in another chain that a lot of it is also a violent revenge fantasy and/or demonization of LGBT people as a backlash against the growing visibility of the LGBT community at the time. Look at how many killers and victims are horrible stereotypes meant to demonize LGBT people, and make the audience feel good when they get ripped up
I was looking for those.
A mass demonstration is planned in the Vancouver, B.C., metro area Saturday against the expansion of Kinder Morganâs Trans Mountain pipeline project. Nearly 7,000 Coast Salish Water Protectors have signed up to participate.
Building in the courts and halls of Canadian government for years, conflict over the mammoth Trans Mountain tar- sands oil-pipeline expansion is expected to spill into the streets of British Columbia Saturday with massive civil disobedience demonstrations.
Indigenous leaders from along the pipeline route and the U.S. are expected to join a march and rally beginning Saturday in metro Vancouver. Nearly 7,000 Coast Salish Water Protectors â as the pipeline opponents call themselves â have signed up to participate, said Will George of the Tsleil-Waututh Nation, spokesman for the Protect the Inlet movement.
âWe cannot stand by anymore,â George said. âIt is going to be like Standing Rock,â where thousands of so-called water protectors stood against the Dakota Access Pipeline in North Dakota in 2016.
âThe similarity is we are standing up to protect our water. And we are going to do this in a peaceful way,â George said. â It is going to mark a day in history; it will be a massive mobilization.â

A LOT of Canadians shared just about every post about #NODAPL. This is Canadaâs #NODAPL and thousands of people are going to be descending tomorrow in Vancouver in a massive Indigenous lead protest against the Kinder Morgan Trans Mountain Pipeline expansion which was forced through by Justin Trudeauâs government.
Also, Americans this project will effect you. Washington state shares the same water with British Columbia, and this project is going to drastically increase Super oil tanker traffic in the Haro Strait and Strait of Juan de Fuca.
If you donât know much about this pipeline and how it will infringe on Indigenous Peoples in Canada, contribute to Climate Change and put Vancouver at a risk of a massive oil spill, Iâve included some reading below:

This is important.
Itâs not a âloopholeâ itâs explicit within the text of the amendment
âLoopholeâ lmfao like itâs a fucking accident, like it wasnât purposefully structured to reclaim and expand a source of free labor
We never outlawed slavery in America. We simply transferred ownership of slaves from individual landowners to the government and large corporations.
Other fun facts about prison labor corporations:
-Federal and state-run prisons usually pay their slaves minimum wage; some states, however, like Colorado, pay $2/hour.
-Private prisons pay $.17-.50/hour. The highest paying private prison is in Tennessee, which pays $.50/hour for âhighly-skilled labor.â
-You think that hasnât affected wages in the US? You think that hasnât removed manufacturing jobs from the economy?
-Companies that contract with private prisons for their slave labor include: IBM, Boeing, Motorola, Microsoft, AT&T, Wireless, Texas Instrument, Dell, Compaq, Honeywell, Hewlett-Packard, Nortel, Lucent Technologies, 3Com, Intel, Northern Telecom, TWA, Nordstromâs, Revlon, Macyâs, Pierre Cardin, Target Stores. Many, many products that say âMade in USAâ were made in prison.
-Private prisons often have quotas with the states, wherein the states contractually guarantee that they will provide a certain number of prisoners to fill the beds of a private prison, and if they donât then they owe the private prison millions of dollars. Iâm not making this up. It happened in Colorado after they legalized weed.
-States have a financial incentive to lock up their citizens.
-All of the above corporations have a financial incentive to see citizens get locked up.
-This is why Jeff Sessions is going after weed. The prison industrial complex needs slaves.
-To the shock of absolutely no one, private prisons have even more disparate racial demographics than federal/state prisons.
-Where do you think they send undocumented immigrants who have been rounded up? Thatâs right, private prisons. Thatâs why so many of them are in the South. So they take immigrants who are earning some kind of comparable wage and paying income tax to the government, and put them in prison where the wages are absurdly depressed and the prison pays virtually nothing in taxes.
-Oh yeah: private prisons pay virtually nothing in taxes. Because they technically manage real estate (prison as housing), they get all sorts of tax breaks and subsidies.
Tl;dr the prison industrial complex removes jobs from the economy, depresses wages, cheats the tax system, and ENSLAVES PEOPLE, usually people of color.

Imagine paying $40 extra a month for Tumblr
Thatâs what is going to happen if we let Ajit Pai, the FCC chairman, go through with repealing Title II (AKA Net Neutrality).
Simply put, without Net Neutrality, Internet Service Providers like Comcast, Verizon, and AT&T will be able to âbundleâ websites much like cable ON TOP OF paying for internet connection. âWant access to Netflix AND Tumblr? Get the Entertainment Package! $40 a month. What about Amazon and Ebay? Add an extra $20 a month to get the Shopping Package.â
Not only will they be able to bundle websites and charge more, they will also be able to censor and block websites that they donât agree with entirely.
THIS WILL BE THE END OF INTERNET AS WE KNOW IT.
For business owners, it will be even worse. Ex: Comcast will ask Amazon to pay high fees to be available in a low-cost package, fees that websites like Poshmark or Etsy will not be able to pay. Therefore, only Fortune 500âs will be available to web users at a low cost. Say goodbye to Etsy (unless youâre willing to shell out $70 a month for the âAll-Inclusiveâ package).

There are five people deciding the future of the internet, three men (Rep) and two women (Dem). The two women have come out as No votes. We need only to convince ONE of the other members to flip to a NO vote to save Net Neutrality.

Happened today
I work at a daycare with infants.
One of our baby girls is fat, in the 99th percentile for her age. She is super cute and sweet. Lately, she has been sick with various breathing issues, so she has been reluctant to take her bottles. Normally, sheâll take 4 ounces of formula at lunch and 8 ounces in the afternoon. Today, I was lucky to get to her take 5 all day.
There was a substitute covering a lunch break in my classroom today. We emphasized to her that we need to keep trying to get the baby to drink her bottle until she finished it. She said, âWhy are you guys so worried about taking her bottle?â
My coworker replied, âThatâs where all her nutrients are. She needs the nutrients and the water.â
To which the substitute replied, âBut sheâs so fat. She doesnât need it.â
Thin privilege is a small, pretty baby getting better childcare because the caretaker doesnât think sheâs too fat to be allowed to eat.
This reminds me of a cousin of mine who ended up with her kids being taken away from her by social services for a number of reasons but mostly for nearly killing her baby daughter. How?
By starving her. She insisted that her baby was âtoo fatâ and had an aim to remove any and all âchubbynessâ so her baby would be thin. Sheâd already been warned by her doctor about the baby not getting enough food, but insisted she knew best.
After several months of this her baby passed out cold one day and was rushed into hospital where the doctors found her to have severe malnutrition, a low body temperature and low pulse rate. They asked my cousin what sheâd been feeding her daughter and she said âone bottle of skimmed milk a day. I donât want her growing up fat.â
Even after nearly killing her daughter my cousin maintained her view that fat = bad and ended up with all her kids taken from her because she was starving them and neglecting them.
When your fatphobia leads you to starving your own children then youâve got serious problems.
(Note. She still, to this day, maintains the view that she was right and the doctors were wrong. âThey just want fat kids so they can keep employed treating them for all those diseases that being fat causes.â = her actual words.)
My mom had me dieting with her when I was eleven. She had me eating less than 600 calories a day because she was worried I was going to âget huge.â She even grounded me once because she found out my friends were bringing me lunches! I ended up passing out, going to the ER, and getting two IVs at once BC I was so goddamn dehydrated. Soooooo surprised they didnât call child services⊠And looking back, this was the root of my anorexia. Iâm nearly 22 and still fighting it. Please donât starve your fucking children.
For fucks sake babies are SUPPOSED to be fat, what is wrong with people? Itâs just stored energy, and growing children need stored energy - an 11 year old is just about to hit some major growing years. Damn.Â
Fatphobia
Is
Real
and it kills
This is no joke. people will literally starve their own babies cause they donât want them getting fat. A parent brought in their six month old baby who was having breathing issues and kept getting sick. the parent was asked if the baby was eating regularly and the parent straight up told the doctor that they only feed the baby once a day. ONCE A DAY. A FUCKING BABY. they even had the nerve to say because they didnât want the baby to get fat. people like this are real. they would rather have a dead baby than a fat one.
My youngest son is a very big boy and has been since he was born. When he was 10 months old I took him for his well-baby check and vaccinations. The nurse noted his weight and said, quite casually, âHe is in the 99th percentile for weight so he is at risk for obesity. You may want to keep an eye on that.â I said, âHe is exclusively breastfed. He refuses to eat any solids yet.â What did she expect me to do? What would it mean to âkeep an eye onâ an exclusively breastfed babyâs weight?Â
She backed off saying, âWell he looks fine!â â proving once again that weight bias is not truly about health â But I know many other parents who are not as informed as I am about weight science and size diversity would react to this interaction by policing their childâs food intake, if not as an infant, then when he was an older child. This is exactly the type of seemingly-inconsequential interaction that starts the ball rolling on a lifetime of dieting, disordered eating, negative body image, and weight-based abuse for too many fat people.
Years later when he was five, another doctor measured his weight and height and commented that he is off the charts on both, but âat least he is in proportion.â And if he was not âin proportion,â I am sure I would have been advised once again to âwatch his weight.âÂ
I no longer allow healthcare providers to weight my children unless it is absolutely medically necessary. They are unable to control their weight talk, which is a known harm for children.
We need to completely eliminate weight talk from medicine, especially when it comes to children. Even the smallest exposure can have terrible consequences.
WtfâŠ
A friend from college had been going to the doctor because she was having trouble breathing. She was told to lose weight. Over the course of several years, she went back to the doctors time and time again, telling them that sheâd been sticking to the diet but because of her breathing problems she had been unable to even walk for more than 20 minutes at a time. The doctor got her into an exercise programme and told her that she just needed to really try to lose weight because that was clearly the reason for her breathing problems. By the time they found the tumour on her lungs, it was inoperable. She only lived three months after diagnosis. She was 25. Sheâd had the tumour for over five years. The doctor was so focused on the fact that my friend was âfatâ, that they refused to look for any underlying cause. They killed her.
Weight-first treatment KILLS. Fatphobia KILLS.
I have 2 scary stories to share about fatphobic doctors & parents harming their childs/patientsâ health:
1. The 4 years old daughter of a friend of mine came to our house to spend the weekend. She gave me a letter from her mom that said that the child was in a glutenfree diet because she was getting âawfully fatâ when eating cookies or bread (my celiac ass; who gets dhiarrea and loses a scary amount of weight whenever I eat something with gluten was like â???â).
You can bet that I went to the supermarket with the kid and told her âgo & take whatever you feel like eatingâ and the poor child came back smiling with her arms full of biscuits and cupcakes.
She didnât got sick (as a celiac would get) and told me later that she hated the diet her mother made her follow; because her cousins didnât had to pass through that.
And whatâs the scariest thing about this story? Her mother was a NURSE. A fucking nurse who didnât have a clue of the harm that she was doing to her daughterâs body!
2. My little sister started to feel fatigued and dizzy at 9 years old. She felt nauseated at the sight of food and had abdominal pain that increased with physical activity.
Mom got her to the ER and the doctor dismissed it saying: âsheâs fat and probably is feeling ill after eating too much burgers, get her to make some exercise and she will be better in no timeâ.My mom didnât felt ok with the diagnosis and took my sister with a second doctor who also told her that âthe child was just fatâ.
My sisterâs skin was starting to get yellow as the days passed and the abdominal pain was getting awful so my mom (heaven bless her!) got her to the ER for the third time:
SHE HAD STAGE 4 HEPATITIS AND WAS ABOUT TO DIE.
She survived after a long and painful recovery who involved being in bed for a whole year (remember that weâre speaking of a 9 years old child). Luckily they saved her liver and she didnât went through a transplant⊠but let this sink:
If it werenât for my mother, fatphobia would have killed her. Fatphobia kills kids and teenagers, fatphobia kills inocent people everyday. It treats human beings as lesser than others and hurts them in their most vulnerable times.
Itâs a real shame that we all have so much stories to share about this issue. A REAL SHAME.
Future doctors, interns, and residents following me:
FUCKING TAKE NOTE OF THIS!
Donât let bias against your fat patients kill them!
(#and this is just when we actually go to the doctor and tell them we have problems #how many of us just give up #or wonât mention anything that seems like too much of a âfatâ problem)
iâd really like my thin followers to reblog this if you can. fat people are already here for each other, we need you guys to help us out too. this is something i never see anyone actually talking about in-depth, and itâs disappointing. be there for your fat siblings, too.
We always get lost like this...

COMMUNITY-BASED DONATIONS FOR PUERTO RICO HURRICANE RELIEF
Most people in the USA and around the world are donating to either one or two puerto rican donation funds: Unidos por Puerto Rico, Hispanic Federation, and ConPRmetidos.Â
Now I canât speak for the last two and the work theyâve been doing, but most people here are really extremely skeptical of Unidos por Puerto Rico. Why? Its run by the FIrst Lady. The government here is extremely corrupt and there are many reports of parts of the administration skimming off hurricane relief and donations (mostly mayors, but câmon everyone knows this goes higher up). Plus their donations are not getting to where they are needed the most. Its mostly civilians getting donations to hard-hit and hard to reach towns!
And anyways, what all three of those orgs are doing is distributing those donations to smaller orgs that work on the ground and are community based.Â
SO WHY NOT SKIP THE BUREAUCRACY! DONATE DIRECTLY TO TRUSTED COMMUNITY BASED ORGANIZATIONS DOING ALL THE GOOD WORK THAT NEEDS TO BE DONE! PICK THE THING YOU CARE MOST ABOUT AND DONATE!!!!
HEREâS A HUGE MASTERLIST THAT WILL BE UPDATED SINCE I NOW HAVE THE POWER OF WIFI AND ELECTRICITY AT MY HANDS!Â
PLEASE FUCKING DONATE IF YOU HATE COLONIALISM, RACISM, TRUMP AND RICKY ROSSELLĂ!!!Â
DONATE TO SAVE PUERTO RICAN LIVES AND STAND IN SOLIDARITY WITH US!
DONATE!
1. Casa Pueblo de Adjuntas is a radical, award-winning, environmental organization that has been operating for years in opposition to the economic exploitation of Puerto Rican land. They are currently engaged in a campaign to buy solar lightbulbs to distribute to the town of Adjuntas, hit by Category 5 winds. Its citizens will probably not have electricity until February since it is in the interior of the island, with some of the highest peaks around. Its one of the worst affected towns. Living in the dark is miserable, and you can buy a lightbulb for these good people for 10$!Â
2. El Departamento de la Comida (The Department of Food) is a radical kitchen in Puerto Rico focused on reviving sustainable agriculture in Puerto Rico. Its run by awesome queer people who have a radical vision for agricultural development in the islands, especially after we lost over 80% of our crops that make up an integral part of our diet and economy for mountainous towns. They have a bunch of cool and desperately necessary projects you can donate to here  and hereÂ
3. The Center for a New Economy is a center left (? think of a little to the left Clinton i guess), nonpartisan think tank focused on developing a stable economy for Puerto Rico. They are against the austerity measures for the Island are trying to lobby Congress for disaster relief. You can donate to them here.
4. The Boys and Girls Clubs of Puerto Rico are an important community organization serving marginalized communities like LoĂza (historically Afro-Puerto Rican) where poverty tends to become entrenched due to shitty economic policies, racism, and classism. They are directly involved in the communities you are donating to help. Donate here.
5. The Vieques Animal Rescue is the only no-kill shelter on the island of Vieques, part of the Puerto Rican archipelago. It suffered severe damage as the eye of Hurricane MarĂa passed over it directly. Please donate.
6. The Sato Project is another rescue organization that is doing amazing work trying to rescue animals in Puerto Rico. The Island has a severe street dog and cat problem, and its only getting worse as people leave the Island en masse and canât take their pets. Please donate here.
7. The Caño MartĂn Peña or G-8 Fund is an EXTREMELY IMPORTANT COMMUNITY ORGANIZATION! They won the United Nations World Habitat Award for their Community Land Trust. Look, this place lies in prime real estate in San Juan, and for years they have tried to displace this poor, marginalized community to gentrify the area and build apartments for rich people. The people in this community have stood up to rich asshole puerto ricans and gringos and are almost completely auto-sufficient. Their community lies in a canal, so they experienced extreme flooding and destruction. I canât stress enough how radical and awesome they are so please, please fucking donate to them!
8. Hurricane MarĂa Community Recovery Fund is a fund created by three trusted organizations: Taller Salud in LoĂza, the G-8 I mentioned above, and the Centro para Desarrollo PolĂtico, Educativo, y Cultural in Caguas. Its community based and the donations will be spent according to a committee of Puerto Ricans from the Island and Diaspora, to ensure the greatest transparency. Please donate. These organizations work in the most marginalized communities on the Island, bringing basic and important services!
9. FundaciĂłn El Plato Caliente (Foundation Hot Plate) is a bunch of local restaurants and chefs working together to provide free hot meals to Puerto Ricans across the Island. They were just founded after Hurricane Maria and are already distributing upwards of 2000 plates per day! In THREE WEEKS! Puerto Ricans are still without electricity, so a hot plate of food is hard to come by, especially when most people have no income bc they are out of work. PLEASE DONATE HERE (paypal) or HERE (Their FB page has a picture with a Venmo, ATH Movil and other ways to donate). Â
10. Iniciativa Comunitaria (Community Initiative) is an organization helping  people without access to medical care or who have been traditionally marginalized by the healthcare system such as: LGBT people who are HIV+, addicts many of whom are homeless, sex workers and other marginalized people. Right now they are helping the communities of San Juan, Toa Baja (site of deadly floods) and LoĂza (that Afro-Boricua marginalized community I was talking about earlier). You can purchase a shirt intended for the Puerto Rican diaspora here (says strong roots, united hearts âits intended for puerto ricans but i bet its great for sleeping in!) or you can donate via paypal here.
11. Campamento Contra La Junta (Camp Against the Board) are a group of radical leftwing activists who are against the Fiscal Control Board, imposed by Congress last year. They occupied a space in front of the Federal Court Building last year. Think something along the lines of Occupy Wall Street, but perhaps more anarchist-y. Theyâre currently buying provisions, loading them up on their cars, and going to communities in dire need of help. 12. Comité Boricua en la Diåspora (Boricua Committee in the Diaspora) is a group of leftwing radical activists from the Bronx who coordinate help and activities against the colonial nature of Puerto Rico between the Islands and those on the mainland. They are currently engaged in helping the Island from the mainland, mainly NYC. You can donate to them here and they have a better explanation of where the fund will go.
Hey all!! I am part of an affinity group/community response network and weâve been responding to the recent wildfires that are surrounding Sonoma County and Napa County in California. Weâve been mostly passing out donations (i.e. water, tarps, clothes, masks, food, etc.) and coordinating donations to pass out in shelters , in the streets, and to folx who do not feel safe to go to a redcross shelter.
plz share any help would be great!!
