Once when I was in undergrad, someone described something as “problematic” in class and our professor was like, “That’s cool, but ‘problematic’ doesn’t really mean anything. It means that the thing you’re describing has a problem, and in and of itself that’s not bad. Art, especially, should always have problems, or else it’s not interesting and not art, either. It sounds like you’re trying to say that this is bad, but you don’t want to say ‘bad.’ Is that right?”
So from then on whenever one of us called something problematic, he would make us talk it out until we could name the “bad” thing we were hinting at. In this particular class, 7/10 it was some type of oppression, and the remainder was like, “I’m uncomfortable because this is very new/confusing/pushing boundaries that made me feel safe.”
Once we stopped calling things “problematic” and stopping at that, class got way more interesting and... we all had to say, like, “that’s racist” or “that’s misogynistic” or “ew capitalism gross” out loud, which a lot of us had never done in a classroom before. Or we had to be like, “Uhhh... I’m not sure what’s so bad?” and confront our own beliefs and that was maybe even more useful.
Anyway. Whenever I see the word problematic, I can’t help but think of this professor being like, “Good starting point, now let’s get specific.” I think when we have to commit to saying “that’s ___” it requires a lot more careful thought about the truth and impact and complexities of whatever we’re claiming. Sometimes there really is some bullshit afoot, and also sometimes it’s art, and it should be full of problems, because that’s what art is.
Repost, now do your honors.
awww the like button turns into a rainbow when you press it! that's so cute...hey staff what's with all the trans women you keep nuking?
i think we should be ridiculing them more for this. you don't get to try and go all "queer website" when your staff likes to go on nuking sprees targeting the trans fem users
would be remiss not to mention that the rainbow notably straight up just removed the trans flag colors from it. like they’re gone. it’s the progress flag minus the trans flag colors.
that’s not the whole flag, now is it
hey staff what the fuck
hey staff don't you think you're being too on-the-nose
HEY STAFF DONT YOU THINK YOU'RE BEING TOO ON-THE-NOSE

YOU CANT HIDE || Fnafvs Animation
:]
do not forget the patron saint of these weeks that we celebrate ourselves proudly and openly in the streets
her name was Marsha P Johnson, and we have her to thank for so much.
remember, the first Pride was a riot, and she was one of the brave souls who endured it to help carve the path which so many of us walk today. she helped found several activist groups regarding LGBT safety and wellbeing. and she was absolutely radiant, too.
thank you, Marsha. we remember you.
You Cant Hide— a short fnafvs animation— will be coming out TONIGHT on here and youtube!!!
I started this just under a month ago, and completely got carried away with it. Nonetheless I hope you enjoy it when it comes out :D
my bsf asked me to draw him
Im seeing (rightfully) so much queer art i need to draw my stupid gays (/a)

Happy Birthday, King. We miss you.
This is mesmerizing to watch.
actually physically painful to watch because you know months were spent masking all those frames for each of the kajillions of transitions in this
Holy………..shmokes…….
Oh?? My god??
I’ll try my best to describe this. It’s a video with a mash-up of a bunch of different Disney movies, set to a song that’s a mash-up of a bunch of other songs. That in and of itself wouldn’t make it praiseworthy, but this is DONE SO WELL that just, holy cow.
HOLY SHIT
Every time I see this, I HAVE to watch.
It is Law.
Introducing: Pantheon SMP ⛈️
Coming to Youtube: LATE JULY!
^^^ guy who muses about doing shit instead of doing it
Hello all, and welcome to Third life Lifer a day June!!
Calendar text description under cut at bottom!
How this event works:
1. Look at the calendar and draw, write, craft, or something else creative about the prompt of the day! We have days for the individual Lifers themselves, but also some fun Special Days, too!
2. If you want your work to be shown in this blog (we're going to try to reblog pieces as much as possible), tag this blog ( @liferadayjune ), or tag your post '#liferadayjune' or '#liferadayjune2026'!
3. Keep things PG-13 (no NFWF, unless it is things like injuries, and in that case, make sure to tag it accordingly)! More mature themes will not been shown on this blog so that everyone can enjoy (so if it is triggering at all, then it won't be reblogged here).
4. NO tracing, using + claiming it as yours, or any other crap like that with other people's art.
5. And ABSOLUTELY NO AI!! This event is for your art (whether it's digital, traditional, writing, poetry, crafts, or anything else creative), and is a celebration of YOU and the community, and most definitely not for AI.
6. If you ever have any questions, need something cleared up, or anything else, just reach out to us! We're here to help, and make this go as smoothly as possible :)
