i don't think i was built to be happy
i go through life with unending darkness and overwhelming sadness and nothing seems to help
Spoiler alert: adulthood is 96% of you going “well, I hope this is how it works and I’ll keep doing it till someone yells at me”
I like these posts because you read them as a teenager and you think, ‘surely these people are blowing it out of proportion’
AND THEN YOU REACH ADULTHOOD
what do you do when your safe person is no longer safe
what do you do when the person you turn to turns against you
what do you do when the person who speaks to build you up weaponizes your words to tear you down
what do you do when your entire world crashes at your feet
Therapist Red Flags
Therapy is important and can be really helpful, but not all therapists are good at their job. Here’s a few things to look out for when you’re seeing a therapist:
Not listening to what you tell them
Ignoring confidentiality (except in emergencies)
Making you feel judged or ashamed
Ignoring or trivialising your needs
Consistently being late
Making fun of your needs / accomplishments
Being judgemental or critical of you
Not taking your feedback on sessions into account
Condescending facial expressions or body language
Ignoring what you want to do / accomplish in therapy
Talking too much about themselves
Making you feel like problems are all your fault
Being insensitive to your culture or religion
They’re making you feel bad about yourself
Using the phone or getting distracted during your sessions
Attempting to make romantic / sexual advances on you
Making you feel stupid or invalid for what you say or how you feel
Forgetting important details about you / your life
Pushing you too hard before you’re ready
You wondering if their behaviour is a red flag. If you’re looking it up then chances are you already feel uncomfortable in therapy. You should never be forced into seeing a therapist who makes you feel uneasy. There’s no shame in leaving and finding a different therapist.

people with knees should be ashamed
In Finland, speeding tickets are calculated based on your income - causing some Finnish millionaires to pay fines of over $100,000. Source
This is what “equality” looks like in that liberal fairy tale land of Finland. They punish you proportionately to how successful you are. Sounds really “fair.”
Except… it is fair? Because it’s proportionate. I don’t get what’s difficult about that. An impoverished person paying $400 dollar fine isn’t the same as a millionaire paying the same amount. For the poor person, $400 dollars could mean starving. Would you really claim it would have the same consequence for a rich man? Would it even be noticeable to him, while the absence of food in their stomach would be glaring to a poorer man? Would it be fair for a man to starve for the same crime as a man that would be having a three course meal?
By taking income into account, it allows the impoverished able to still survive while paying any fines they may incur. And, ultimately, while $100,000 dollars would be noticeable to a millionaire, they would still get by. And, assuming the law is properly implemented, they would be paying the same equivalent of their yearly income that a poorer person would. That’s what makes it fair. They would be impacted the same way - but you are looking at the amount rather than the equation.
Also, it’s important to make sure that even the rich would pause at the cost of a fine. They need to fear the law just as a poor man does.
Oh no… rich people facing fines that might actually make them consider not doing illegal things because the punishments might actually hurt them… how unfair… -V
Finnish person here. Our speeding ticket system owns and only people who bitch about them are people who wanna break the laws - the loudest whiners are the rich people who think they can just pay their way out of trouble and that’s why we have laws like that.
400 dollar ticket.
Person making 10 dollars an hour: “Fuck, I better slow down”
Millionaire driving a Jaguar: “LOL 400 DOLLARS, FUCK THAT, NYOOM”
Compared to a proportional ticket.
Person making 10 dollars an hour and must pay 400 dollar ticket: “Fuck, I better slow down.”
Millionaire who must pay 100,000 dollar ticket: “Fuck, I better slow down.”
Like wtf. Some people have been so brainwashed by capitalism and worship of the rich that they literally can’t tell the difference between fairness and unfairness anymore.
It IS fair. The fact that it flies in the status quo so much should make you think about that status quo.
You don’t have to reach a certain level of productivity to be allowed to feel worn out.
it’s okay to have different energy levels, please allow yourself to rest.

first woman [excited, upbeat tone]: Who’s gonna tell VeggieTales that their main character’s a fruit?
second woman [more subdued, serious tone]: I hate to break this to you, but... nothing’s a vegetable. “Vegetable” is just a term that means “you can eat it”. In botany, nothing’s a vegetable. So, like. Yeah, a tomato’s a fr- a berry, but. A, a carrot’s just a root. And. And a potato’s just a tuber. And, like? A, a cucumber is just a melon. Melon’s are fruits... in other ways. You’re not gonna put a cucumber in your fruit salad, though. Not gonna put a tomato in your fruit salad. Broccoli? Broccoli’s a fuckin’ flower. We’re eating a flower when we’re eating broccoli. All, like, lettuce, kale? That’s just a leaf. It’s just a leaf. Nothing’s a vegetable. Vegetables don’t exist.

Tiktok 1: What's the weirdest thing about you body that you haven't gotten fixed yet?
Tiktok 2: (unintelligible) I started having issues hearing out of my right ear so i go to the doctor like any normal person would, and the guy looks in my ear with that little flashlight nozzle thing and he goes, "hm." And I go, "what?" And he says, "You don't have an ear canal."
Well I DID! Haven't missed any payments, who took it?!
He sends me to the very convenient ear specialist around the corner who then looks in my ear and goes, "JESUS!"
That is not the first thing I want my doctor to say to me! You think you know where this is going and you think it's gonna be a bug- WRONG.
This man informs me that there is a small tooth-sized bone growing across my ear. So I'm sitting there trying to process this like, "So should I go to the dentist?" And he goes "Oh, no it's only covering about 60% of your ear canal so as long as it doesn't start growing more then you don't need immediate surgery." So now I can't go underwater or else it gets trapped behind my ear-tooth!
Also, to the person on twitter who said I wasn't getting enough action so my body had to start 'boning' itself?
That was mean.
(cw: psychosis and descriptions of psychosis)
right here’s a post about shit you can do in psychosis to help yourself
shadow people/government/etc watching you and you’re too scared to get naked? shower in a swimsuit or your underwear. you’ll get clean and not be as vulnerable
find a safe place. my safe place is my bed; no matter what’s out there, nothing can get me while i’m in my bed
find safe people. when i was having really bad night terrors i could only trust people who hadn’t been in my dreams. look for people like that.
things living in your mirrors? wash them with salt water. it won’t get rid of them but it’ll trap them in there and they can’t get out
find phrases or words that make you feel safe. i’m not christian but i used to recite the lord’s prayer when i was scared and i found it helpful
pinch yourself. if you can feel it, you’re in reality and not dreaming
find things that only happen in dreams. in dreams i can’t smoke because my cigarette always turns to ash, so if i can smoke my cigarette regularly i’m not dreaming.
get rid of all weapons. when you’re in psychosis it’s scary as hell and it’s not uncommon to have weapons to protect yourself. i would sleep with a knife or pair of scissors in my bed at one point. but it’s easy to accidentally hurt yourself or others, or be accused of being a danger, so it’s best to get rid of them or have someone trusted hold onto them.
avoid enablers. this is super hard to do but it’s not good to have people around you who encourage your symptoms. it often feels like those are the only people who understand you, but they’re not good for you.
avoid substances. things like alcohol, weed, and other substances will only make your symptoms worse and are extremely difficult to control. do NOT do acid. trust me on this this will fuck you up hardcore.
give yourself space. what’s happening now is scary and overwhelming and you have to be gentle with yourself. it’s ok if you can’t do what you normally did, it’s ok if you struggle at work or school, it’s ok if you struggle with taking care of yourself. this is so hard! and so many people don’t understand. you are okay where you are.
anyway those’re my tips so i hope this helps and it’d be swell if yall could reblog this thanks
