My Top 3 CBD Products

In this blog post I’m going to go into my favourite CBD products. Like all popular products, when you’re new to something it’s hard to know what the right product is, and your simply spoilt for choice. I find that whether I’m looking for somewhere to eat, or a new mascara, reading about other people’s experiences and recommendations are the most trustworthy guidance.

CBD comes in 3 main forms, CBD oil, CBD vape, and CBD creams. I personally don’t vape, but CBD oils and creams have been my saviour. So let’s explore my top 3 products and how I like to use them!

Reakiro CBD Oil

This is honestly my saviour. I always have it on me, wherever I go - so it’s super helpful that it’s pocket size. I read that Reakiro grow very high quality hemp in Europe, and I genuinely think that this is what makes their oil so great. The purity means that you can appreciate how natural it is, which means the effects really do feel like a blessing from nature. What more could you want from a product! The recommended way of using Reakiro CBD oil is to drop 3-6 drops under your tongue. I find this really handy on days when I don’t have much time (which can mean I’m a bit stressed!), but if I have more time I like to put it incorporate it in the kitchen - infusing food and drinks. I’ve read about people putting it in their coffee, but personally I don’t think that the two mix particularly well. I like to put it in herbal teas, turmeric and ginger in particular. One day I will have to do a post dedicated to CBD food and drink!

Cannuka Honey Lip Balm

So not only is this a super natural CBD product, it also includes honey! Did you know that honey has antiseptic and antibacterial properties and can be found in medicine? Not to mention it’s incredibly tasty. In the winter this lip balm was my categorical favourite, I found in the past when I have chapped lips sometimes nothing can save them and I’m just hopelessly putting creams and balms on. Layer after layer, not helpful! Would really recommend this product to anyone and everyone!

What is CBD? And how did I find it?

In my last blog post I spoke about why I wanted to start this blog and I touched on the 3 main pillars of my healthy lifestyle: a good and balanced diet, exercise, and my discovery of CBD. I guess you could include CBD into the diet category, but seeing as this is an area which does not receive as much attention, I thought that it should have its own section. I’ve decided that this blog is going to be primarily about how CBD fits into and improves my healthy lifestyle, but I will probably be touching on recipes and other tips occasionally (just can’t resist!).

You might be wondering, what exactly is CBD? This was a question I didn’t know the answer too at first, and I had to do quite a lot of reading on the subject - which was hard because the terminology is not simple. The first important point is that CBD is not weed! In the beginning I did have spend a bit of time explaining this to my friends and family who were unfamiliar with it. This confusion comes from the fact that both weed and CBD are taken from the cannabis plant, meaning they fall under the same umbrella, but they are also separate.

CBD based products are generally extracted from the hemp plant, which has been legalised across all 50 states of the US and across much of Europe. The extract can contain many different cannabinoids of which CBD (cannabidiol) is just one, you can find other great things like omega 3&6! CBD products do not have a chemical called tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) in them, and this is why a stoned or high effect is not a consequence.

I learned that in our bodies actually have something called an endocannabinoid system built in. If that’s not a sign that we should learn more about CBD, I don’t know what is! This endocannabinoid system has receptors which interact with the compound, controlling and releasing chemicals such as serotonin (which is responsible for happiness!).

People are learning and finding out more and more everyday about what CBD can do, and right now it seems like other benefits could include: reduced blood pressure, anti stress, anti inflammatory and improved blood flow. All of which contribute to a calmer and healthier life. 

I first learned about CBD from another wellness blogger based over in LA. I feel like CBD had a head start there and Californians can be a lot more well informed about this kind of thing. But anyway, I’m trying my best to catch up and find out as much as possible, and I hope this blog will help others learn about CBD!

Finding CBD Oil

I’ve been wanting to start this blog for a while, so today I’m finally going to sit down and do it. They say getting started is the hardest part, so I guess we’ll see about that!

I’m 28 and for 3 years now wellness has been my priority. Obviously I always knew that health was important, but I was also in my young twenties and thought my body was indestructible against the forces of late night partying (which sometimes became early morning), drinking, eating takeaways and all those other habits which are oh so fun in the short term, but sometimes they just leave you feeling like trash.

Doesn’t your body deserve better than being treated like a bin? Yes, yes it does!

My first step to wellness was adjusting my diet, cutting out the little binges, avoiding processed foods which I found out were just full of salt and sugar, and introducing a more natural regime. I’ll admit, I do occasionally indulge in a little green juice, but healthy eating doesn’t have to be things like that - ‘insta food’. I make sure I get my 5-a-day, plenty of grains, and I’ve really got into fish and poultry. I tend to stay away from red meat. Anyway, this is just a little intro - I can’t wait to share some of my favourite recipes with you in future posts.

The second part of my wellness journey was learning to take the time to exercise. You only have one body so make sure you treat it with care. I was never really one for sports in school or my early twenties, clubbing burns calories, right? But over the past few couple of years I’ve been getting involved with more and more exercise classes; being led by a professional who really knows what they’re doing is so rewarding. It’s also great being in a class because you get to meet people who have similar interests. My favourite is probably yoga, because not only is it great for my body, but it’s also incredible for my mental health - it really helps me chill out.

Speaking of chilling out, we come to my third and final point of my wellness journey summary. Finding CBD oil. By no means am I a mental health expert, but everyday I am growing and learning more about myself and my body - and I’ve learned that mind and body are very strongly connected. At points I’ve been plagued with anxiety, millennial stress (it’s so real), and sometimes just fatigue and burnout. All of these were symptoms of my hectic lifestyle, not taking proper care of my body, not eating properly, not sleeping properly. And this all makes sense, but in today’s non-stop culture it’s hard, and it’s not realistic to be like hey i’ve got 20 minutes, ill do my relaxing now. But this is where CBD made a real difference in my life. A friend introduced me to it, and at first it did sound too good to be true - but I promise, it has done wonders! For my sleep, my anxiety, and my general calmness.

This blog is going to be dedicated to my wellness journey and I can’t wait to explore all of these topics in more detail, especially my journey with CBD.
