do you ever sabotage your own free time? like wtf is that about? i want to play this game or read or do something specific but instead i will just stare out the window or scroll mindlessly???
Im gonna guess this is decision fatigue! Bc I do this too but I dont when I have pre-planned the free time activity!
“This Is Why You’re Always So Tired”
Thank god I read this post, I was about to call my neuro cos I thought that my medications were making me sleep so much out of the blue but according to the post what I’m experiencing is “intrusive sleep”, and it makes so much more sense I need a new hyperfixation so bad🥲 my brain’s a bitch
Going from "I can't do this because my adhd keeps fucking it up" to "how dare you say I can't do that because of my adhd?? I'm a fully functional adult!" and feeling insulted.
Parkour
Hyperfocus is your brain going "Well to make up for all the times we didn't focus, we're going to pour all the focus we have stored up into this one little thing. Have fun."
do you ever. you ever have that thing. you ever. where you. you bounce. you ever have that thing where you bounce ur leg a bunch and then when you stop bouncing ur leg ur whole body vibrates in protest. because. because my body is vibrating in protest. because i bounced my leg.
Wait... there's people that can't unfocus their eyes on purpose????
Like, when you zone out and you're not looking at anything in particular
I've been doing it my whole life! It's second nature to unfocus my eye, especially when I retreat into my adhd-riddled mind
People can't do this????
Attention deficit disorder is doing three things but none of them were the thing you set out to do
Having ADHD is that your brain either feels like
Or
And it can switch in a matter of seconds.
bold of you to assume im not
THATS IT THATS WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE
birdy.., !’
Yep that's what it's like
I feel seen and I’m not sure I like it
[ID: a pie chart made by Derek Mecca
it’s titled Where Is The Thing?
it’s spilt fifty/fifty with one half [green] saying
Carelessly set down (I forgot where)
and the other side [purple] saying
Deliberately put in special place (I forgot where)

adhd bitches be like. “there’s this very tiny sound that’s extremely quiet that no one can hear but me but the fact that i can hear it means that i can no longer focus on this task” but also go “sorry i have no idea what you said because you weren’t the only sound being produced in this environment at the time and you weren’t super loud and perfectly enunciated therefore i processed nothing” i’m bitches
Hello welcome my ADHD themed gameshow, "So you were holding it literally moments ago but now it's gone" the where YOU look for whatever you were just holding while going increasingly mad
I'm just trying to get the mood right
Reblog if you didn't notice the missing words
i have a little switch in my head. its two settings are “do everything immediately” and “do nothing at all”. i do not control what the switch is set to, and there is no third setting
“you are very good at describing your emotions” well i spend 90% of my day trying to figure out if i’m faking them or not cause what if i’m actually this evil mean person who fakes everything and manipulates everyone
having one of those executive function days where everything is too many steps
by which i mean, like, here's how my brain parses the steps in making coffee
good day:
make coffee
regular day:
put water in coffee maker
put coffee in coffee maker
turn on coffee maker
bad day:
take pot from coffee maker
turn on sink
fill up coffee pot
turn off sink
pour water into coffee maker
put coffee pot in coffee maker
open cupboard
get coffee filter from cupboard
get coffee beans from cupboard
put filter in coffee pot
measure coffee
pour coffee into filter
close coffee maker
turn coffee maker on
anyway this is a "14 steps to make coffee" kind of day
This is exactly what executive dysfunction feels like
