MEET DATURA!!!
Real name? Yoru Yukisome, Class 1-B hero course student. Their quirk? Flora!
→ They can summon any plant that they have extensive knowledge on as long as they can provide the conditions needed to grow it in their body. Though, depending on what they grow, they have a limit of two or three plant types per 24-48 hours.
Though, they used to—and still do—prefer summoning poisonous flowers or plants since they used to think it was the only thing they were able to grow. (Whenever they summoned these dangerous plants, they'd feel a dull stinging depending on what it was, which they mistook as a sign that their quirk was working, so when they don't feel that sting when they summon non-poisonous plants, they assumed their quirk isn't working.)
Their preference for poisonous plants does pose the problem of accidentally poisoning people, so they've studied since they were TEN on how to use their blood and the antibodies (idk what they're called, sorry) to make antidotes for the plants they're capable of growing. Besides wanting to avoid accidentally poisoning people, another reason Yoru wanted this was because they lost their twin sister, Mitsu, to poisoning.
Though, her death was caused by the fact her body didn't develop the thing that allows her to be immune to her own quirk due to Yoru developing it instead. Yoru believes that, technically, she's still a part of them because they have part of her quirk. They keep a locket of her on themself and occasionally speak to it as though it was her.
Also, they're a massive loner and a bit of a nerd, so they had a lot of free time to learn and study themself. By the time they got to UA, they already managed to make semi-effective antidotes for the main roster of poisonous plants they'd use. But, for safety measure, they started growing non-poisonous plants more often so they don't have to use the antidotes as much.
→ They're a bit.. eccentric, when around people. Very conscious of themself, too. Even if they internally despise how they act, they don't want anyone getting close.
They HATE unprompted physical touch, but it's mostly due to the fact they perceive themself as dangerous and would like to ready themself before making any contact. Also very sensitive to loud noises, usually wears noise dampeners whenever they can, but prefers to wear headphones casually because they like the soft padding. (They don't wear the headphones outside of the dorms because they think it makes them look ‘shy’ or ‘introverted’, which would clash with the fact they wanted to appear weird.)
→ Their parents were originally from a conservative province (like the one Shoji was from) that despised heteromorphs. Yoru's mother was a heteromorphic snake and was shunned, but their father—the son of a farmer known for his quirk being able to grow any plant he's eaten at least once—felt sympathy for her and secretly sheltered her when the village exiled her. When the village found out, the two ran off and started a new life, then had Yoru and Mitsu.
Yoru's parents initially didn't mind that what their children would be, but when Mitsu died and when Yoru's quirk manifested, the two were worried Yoru would end up a villain—under the guise of Yoru's quirk only being able to summon poisonous plants—so they slowly started easing Yoru into wanting to be a hero. Yoru knows what their parents think about their quirk and the possibilities, they don't want to be a hero, but they felt like they owed it to their parents and Mitsu to do so, so they did.
Growing up, Yoru didn't have any favorite heroes. Sure, they admired that people as cool and influential as All Might existed, but they weren't really moved enough to think about going "Wow, I wanna be like him!!". They were more likely to look up to Eraserhead and other more obscure heroes, and they had bigger interest in the heroes on the “heroes that look more like villains” chart rather than the actual hero ranking chart since they could relate.
The leaves that come up and cover their eyes in their hero outfit come from the back, there are also holes in the soles of their shoes so vines or stems can grow from them.
They have a habit of chewing on their own vines, mostly due to the fact that they have fangs (something they got from their lovely snake mama). Nail-biting has also been a problem but they've gotten over it, mostly.
Uhhhhh, I think that's abt it? Ask me abt them if u wanna know more, idk.. I suck at character writing..
ALSO, THANK YOU TO @/the-asterism-artist FOR THE COLOR PALETTE TIPS !! I don't think I followed it to a T, but I think the colors look better now than before, so thank you for your input on the first post on Yoru :DD
