It must be so crazy for the Centaurs players the emotional whiplash between chirping Hollanov for their lovey dovey antics and them going along with it and then Ilya or Shane randomly dropping the saddest fucking thing you've ever heard.

Ilya's getting chirped for constantly spamming the group chat with photos of them and someone say they must have a dozen photo albums at home and Shane's like, "Well we don't have any photos from before 2021"

Or one of the rookies is debating how much they like some girl and Shane walks by and off-handedly advises, "You shouldn't sleep with anyone unless you're 100% sure you're into it, trust me on this one"

They're also insanely good at charades because their non-verbal communication is uncanny and finally Ilya's like, "well yes, we could not speak in public for a very long time"

In the final moment, Williams turns to Storrie and does a version of Ilya's "attack-y" face, as Tierney describes it. He left that sweet exchange in to show how Shane is capable of breaking his guarded facade. "I think Shane does have a playful side that is stifled... I love the idea of Shane being not just good at hockey but good at all sports, to the point where it fascinates and infuriates the other Centaurs

Because what do you mean they went to the batting cages for some silly fun to watch everyone flail at an unfamiliar sport, only for Shane to need three practice swings before figuring out the force and timing needed to start hitting every single pitch? What do you mean he sets the course record at the mini golf place they have the Pike twins birthday at? What do you mean he learned how to play cricket over a long weekend in the UK? What do you MEAN your Canadian ass that grew up on a calm, tiny lake went to visit Rose in LA and just learned to surf from “some guy” one of the days she was busy??

Shane doesn’t get why they all think it’s so crazy. He’s a professional athlete, he’s good at full body and mind control as well as adaptability and hand-eye coordination, and he’s so used to being the best in the world at hockey that he views being mundanely good at anything else as barely noticeable. He argues with Troy over whether he counts as being good at basketball just because he killed them all at the basketball shooting game at a Dave and Buster’s

They all start making bets to see who can find a sport Hollander isn’t good at. Harris is convinced he’ll win with figure skating because Shane’s muscle memory will want to work against him with a technique that’s so similar but also so different, only for Shane to come out of an afternoon learning from his old friend who was at the Olympics with the ability to do simple jumps and spins and is insisting the whole team learn so they can incorporate it into plays. Harris is not allowed to make suggestions after that

Ilya just sits back and lustily watches his husband destroy their friends at volley ball, wrestling, tennis, broom ball, and ultimate frisbee. Shane participates in an all pro athlete Ninja Warrior event to raise money for charity and Ilya can’t watch the clips of Shane flying through the course like a bat out of hell unless he is able to fuck Shane immediately after it ends

i know in my heart that in shallergies verse, someone is stealth filming the cens team out at a dinner one night and misses shane making a "sorry, guys" comment about holding up ordering so he can look through the menu, but catches "no, no, is very sexy to have a peanut allergy. all of the sexiest people have food allergies." from ilya because he was just being playful

and now ilya ends up getting questions about food allergies THAT HE DOESN'T FUCKING HAVE, but it's not like he's going to put shane's business out there, so he just plays along with the bit and is like yeah, absolutely. the secret to being the best player in the league is allegra. what is his worst allergy? losing. next question.

No one seems to have bothered to write an in depth analysis of how roses are the traditional romantic flower that people default to while lilies aren't on the list of romance flowers the way carnations or peonies or chrysanthemums are. And how Shane chosing Rose over Lily can literally be like. Flower language comphet. Its right there. Everyone expects you to pick a rose. Why has no one gone feral about this? Do i have to do everything myself???? You can go as far as saying many people view lilies as funeral flowers...signifying the potential end of Shane's carrier. Or if you want to go into @penandinkprincess 's shallergies rabbithole (like i have) you could ALSO talk about how lilies are some of the most allergy friendly flowers despite being mildly poisonous (and potentially lethal to pets) which i'm sure is something you could play around with a la Shane's relationship with the Metros being damaged by the introduction of lilies. Cmon yall. Theres so much potential here.

The thing that Shane fully did not consider when he made the plan to start a Mental Health charity and present it as a Cause they Both Love that brought them together, is that, especially after Ilya talks publicly about his mom, people are going to start wondering why Shane Hollander is so passionate about mental health and suicide prevention. And Shane is probably unaware of most of the speculation. It’s like a year in and he’s just so focused on how The Plan is going great and then Hayden says something about how Shane can always talk to him if he’s feeling depressed. And then Shane has to suddenly confront the idea that he also possesses Mental Health, a thing he has been studiously ignoring for his whole entire life.
