Average pro tvl post: we can't do censorship guys! This is a gothic show of course there are going to be fucked up things in! That doesn't mean it's a bad show!
Average tvl critical post; I don't like racism
i do think it was a good thing to hold Louis accountable for his abandonment of Claudia in the midst of her abuse and call out his continued use of black women for emotional support while he ignores their personhood. However, Armand putting him in a saw trap was not needed, I don't know why Louis needed to give a heartfelt apology to the 500 y/o man he was in a toxic relationship with who killed his daughter and gaslit him for years. Not to say that Louis was a 100% innocent party in that relationship, he wasn't. It was essentially a relationship built on lies and spite, it was never completely healthy. But why do we need more accountability from Louis than from the man who literally plotted to kill him and his daughter in front of a live studio audience. and then also tortured Louis in front of a liveleak stream. This feels out of character and I genuinely don't know what message this was supposed to send to the audience.
I will say the absolute worse take I've seen from the latest TVL episode is someone who legitimately said Claudia was not a victim and was a manipulator who drove a wedge between Lestat and Louis so she could be rid of them. That Lestat, understandably, never saw her as a daughter and always as a monster capable of harm. Which completely ignores the fact that Lestat and Louis were constantly arguing before Claudia was even made and that she was literally a 14 year old lynching victim that was turned against her will. Like hatred of women because you love yaoi is still so real in todays age
Like some people in this fandom really are keeping this chart alive

How it has felt watching tvl after waiting for 2 years, and excitedly recommending the show to everyone I know:
I really wish Claudia was still alive in the canon of IWTV/TVL series just because she could get into so many fun subplots in modern times. Like that's Louis and Lestat's daughter, she'd be chaotically evil in the best way. My personal headcanon is that she'd campaign as a black teenage republican whose parents disowned her for her beliefs so she can grift conservatives for money and then eat them
The Claudia + Lestat relationship becomes soooo much clearer when we learn about Lestat's relationship with Gabriella along with his relationship with Louis. For example, Lestat's life: -Outwardly abusive father who hated Lestat for his stutter and flamboyancy. Tried to teach him lessons via harsh punishment -Neglectful mother who would very intermittently show him affection, but would do nothing to mitigate his abuse -Family structure where he was clearly the black sheep, but also would step up to the plate to do hard things no one else wanted to do. -Ends with Lestat killing his family and leaving with his mother -Lestat and his mother form an incestuous relationship before she abandons him for greener pastures, such as sleeping with other men and establishing a new world order. (explicitly mentions to Lestat later on she didn't want to be tied down by a child as she was now free from being a mother.) then we have Claudia's life: -Maker who didn't want her, called her a mistake who was too frail to survive. Did have good moments with her, but showed cruelty in his punishment, even if it was a lesson that needed to be learned. -Parental figure who would treat her kindly for a period, but would ultimately watch her be abused and go through mental anguish without stepping in. -Family structure where she was an outcast (random girl who isn't aging) and didn't get to know extended family well, though she served as a surrogate for them for Louis. -Ends with Claudia killing her maker and leaving with her other parental figure, Louis. -Louis and Claudia leave for Europe where Louis leans on her heavily for emotional support while he's dealing with the attempted murder of Lestat. Louis chooses another man over Claudia, abandoning her to a murderous coven she's expressed hatred for. Louis expresses the desire to be "free" of Claudia to Armand. I know a lot of people like to say that Lestat is the mother figure, but realistically I think Louis plays the role of the mother better. Louis, like Lestat, had a neglectful mother that Louis emulates. It's also why Lestat is drawn to him, as him emotionally withdrawing is the same type of abandonment Lestat felt in his childhood from his mother, reading her books while she watched her son get beaten. It's probably why Lestat cheated on Louis, as doing some kind of big and stupid act (taking on the wolves) is what made Gabriella show him affection. And it did work, that man DID take him back after he recorded an album with his mistress. Obviously it's not 1 to 1. I feel like Louis and Lestat's parents showed more contempt for their children while Louis and Lestat seemed to have a genuine love for Claudia, even if they were awful, terrible parents for her. But basically yeah Freud would have a field day with his series unfortunately
