You aren't sure how long you've been standing here watching your "boyfriend" get pawed by some random woman, but you were done.
You knew Kaiser was trying to get rid of you, but for some reason you thought you could fix him. News flash. You could fuck him. Not fix him. (And it only took you one year to finally grasp that in this moment).
You saw the cars lining up for the next street race and you did the dumbest thing you could possibly do. You pulled open the passenger door of the nearest racing car and jumped in just as the flag dropped.
The car took off at an ungodly speed and you gripped the seat. You hadn't even looked over at the driver and too scared your neck would snap if you tried to move.
"There's a helmet in the back. Grab it. Now!"
It was when you turned to reach for the helmet your heart sank to your stomach. Rin Itoshi. You got into the car of Rin Itoshi one of the top five racers in this group.
You pulled the helmet on, trying to force yourself to breathe. It wasn't the speed now, it was the driver. Your heart was racing because of all the cars you could get in...His.
What a fucked night this was and you didn't know what you were gonna do when he crossed the finish line.
"Tch. Say it. You didn't think. Again."
You wanted to argue, but couldn't. Rin was right. Ever since you got involved with Kaiser you stopped thinking. You weren't blaming Kaiser, they were all your choices, but he was an influence upon them.
You didn't say another word, but let the tears fall silently. When Rin crossed the finish line in first he hit call on his phone, putting it on speaker.
"What're you doing?" Sae's voice came through.
"Grab my cash," Rin hung up.
You placed the helmet in the back, surprised when Rin's hand covered your thigh.
Rin smirked, eyes staying on the road. You looked away trying to wipe the tears off your face.
"Stop wastin' tears on him. Fuckin piece of shit."
"I...I just...you don't understand."
Rin removed his hand from your thigh, making a sharp turn into his driveway.
He got out slamming his door and stomping up the porch into his house. You took a deep breath looking at your phone and sending a quick text. You turned it off and ran up to Rin's and walked in.
Rin had his shirt off, downing a bottle of water before he noticed you.
"I thought I could save him."
Rin tossed the empty bottle aside and closed the distance in seconds. Rin cupped your chin forcing you to meet his intense gaze. Your heart slammed so hard against your ribs you lost your breath.
"What about me? Hmm. Did you ever think that maybe I was worth saving?"
"Rin..." your words were barely a whisper as he pressed his forehead to yours. Your hands cupped his face, your eyes searching his. "Let me save you now?"
Rin pressed you back against the wall, his breathing erratic.
Rin's mouth pressed against yours gently as if he was afraid to break you. His warm hands cupped the sides of your neck in an attempt to control the kiss. You were happy to let him show you how he felt.
Rin lifted you up and you wrapped your legs around his waist. Rin was already a thousand times better than Kaiser with just his kisses. Rin leaned down until your back touched the bed, pulling back searching your eyes.
You nodded and Rin kissed you again. A loud slam, followed by heavy footsteps pulled you apart.
"What the hell are you..."
Rin stood up closing the door behind him, leaving you to listen to the brothers fight.
"I was done for the night."
"Idiot. I meant with her. You know that rose freak is gonna lose his shit." Sae stated.
"Tch. You really are stupid. She's gonna go back to him. Thats what he does. Trains them."
Sae's words slammed straight to your soul. You pulled your knees up to your chest sitting against the wall now.
Rin sighed when he saw you huddled against the wall, before locking his door & moving to the bed.
"My brother's an idiot. C'mere," Rin lay on the bed, arms open.
You moved to him your head lying on his chest. His arms wrapped around you and his warmth began seeping into your body.
"I'm not going back to him."
"I text him it was over. I knew he was acting single, I just didn't know..."
You leaned up, looking down at Rin.
"Promise you'll never race him. Ever."
Rin smiled up at you cupping your cheek.
"I promise I won't race that shithead. Ever."
You kissed Rin sighing into it when he gently rolled you onto your back. He pulled away, his gaze tracing your face slowly. His fingertips running lightly over your jaw, down to your collarbone.
"You know if you had just made a move..."
"Shut up," Rin wore a smirk, no bite to his words.
"Just sayin'. We coulda been together long before now."
Rin placed his forehead against your neck. If he had to admit he fucked up, he couldn't look at you while he did it.
"You didn't have to settle for HIM."
You accepted that. You got tired of hoping Rin liked you. Instead of stepping up and making your own move, you linked yourself to the first guy that showed actual interest. Looking back now you knew Kaiser had marked you early on and waited for the eventual implosion between you and Rin.
"How about going forward, you tell me how you feel."
Rin met your gaze, everything in him melting at the affection in your expression.
