Deciding Once and For All: Singed Deserves Our Appreciation and His Happy Ending.

Bro invented Shimmer, helping Jinx survive on multiple occasions.

it saved Vi.

Which you wouldn't have more Violyn moments without.

Goal-Oriented man stops at nothing to save his daughter. Runeterra's best father.

He gave us the REAL Glorious Evolution where one such as his daughter can keep their minds.

it's okay to be morally grey as long as you are THAT dedicated and not delusional.

Saved Vander and turned him into a furry.

Which helped repair Vi and Jinx's relationship.

Wisest character. Wiser than Ambessa. Scientifically adept too, and Warwick could probably beat her in that fight she barely escaped her life with.

He's actually great with kids, comforting Isha and letting Viktor run when he could have further tried to manipulate him in his flashback. Unlike Silco, who let his insecurttes cause him to have his idea of Jinx.

Please don't think I'm comparing the characters saying he's definitively better. i just think people see him as this slimy, shifty dude with a obsession. And yes. but he's actually so cool and responsible for so much lore across Runeterra. Second favourite character. Awesome dude. Love it. Cool stuff.

Thoughts from a disabled acespec on the topic of Viktor's asexuality

As many others have discussed, I too believe the main controversy from this announcement goes hand in hand with Viktor's disability. While there are several disabled characters in Arcane, it's undeniable that he is the most prominent of them. It's an integral part of his character, his story, etc. Because of this it is undeniable that the choice of the creators to make him ace is influenced by this. And that's where the problem lies. Because it is now no longer a simple case of ace representation for the sake of ace representation. It is an inherent implication that disabled people are incapable of wanting/having sex.

This isn't anything new, either. There's a long history of disabled people being viewed as 'undesireable' or 'incapable of sex' etc. because of their disabilty. And yes, there are also many disabled people who are asexual. Whether that's because of their disability or not. And that's perfectly fine, that's real life, real people, whose decisions don't affect that of an entire fandom. But Viktor does. 

If it had been any other character, I believe there wouldn't be nearly half as much uproar. Let's say Jayce, for example. The conventionally attractive himbo. Personally I think him being ace would be a way better, more subversice take, seeing as it goes directly against the 'big strong man' stereotype that he fits so easily. Seeing as Arcane breaks so many other stereotypes, why should this one be any different? And there'd still be plenty of room in the story for Jayce to have his romantic feelings towards Mel and/or Viktor. Just no sex. No big deal. He'd be asexual for the sake of simply, being asexual.

I am one of many disabled people who's seen so much of myself in Viktor's character. Which is honeslty quite rare. Yes, the ace community has a significant track record of bad representation, or even none at all. But so does the disabled community. We're in this together. I understand that seeing so much hate against this decision without the context of why it's in such bad taste is incredibly hurtful for the asexual community. But this arguement isn't all acephobia. It's ableism too. I've seen so many other disabled acespec people agreeing that Viktor's aceness is disrespectful to both communities and it's been really touching to see. We're in this together. 

So, like all things in fandom, don't take it too close to heart. If you're ace and you see yourself in Viktor being ace, then that's perfectly fine. If you're disabled and are both empowered and horny by the idea of Viktor topping Jayce, hell yeah. You do you. Someone is always going to be upset and offended and very very loud about something. But never let that affect the way you choose to interpret your favs. The word of one man is not gospel to an entire fandom, no matter how important he may be.

And, frankly, I'm not going to touch the whole "oh he only said it bc he's homophobic and wants to ruin jayvik" because I do suspect that's just people blowing things out of proportion like the internet is want to do. And yes, there is definitely a portion of the fandom who has taken this announcement, and all the argueing, as a chance to just be blatantly acephobic. Like I said, that's the internet, it's bound to happen. Those people are arseholes, and do not deserve a say in this debate. This is for the queers and the cripples, amen. 

(Addendum: I rarely ever make big posts like this argueing about fandom stuff, but this topic in particular is very close to my heart. Plus, I seem to be one of the few people in this discussion who is in both communities and is therefore allowed to have a proper say in all this lmao. Everything I've said here is without animosity, only to educate. Feel free to add your thoughts, or let me know if you think I missed something important. Peace and love <3)

ARCANE SEASON 2, ACT 3 SPOILERS:

Can I just say Ekko is the most perfect and flawless character ever created and now I wish he and Viktor and Jinx could have all met somehow and done cool science stuff together. But this frame here genuinely makes me so sad. I’m crushed. But also, I like when conflicting circumstances tear characters apart, to me. I like the tragedy. So I’m glad in our Ekko’s universe, they didn’t stay together. It would be so out-of-character for my girl Jinx.

Also I like that it wasn’t just a boring fan-service episode. It proved a point, and we also had Jayce’s fun adventures in Nightmarefuelworld. ANDD THE Z-DRIVE, WOOOOOO!!!!

Jinx was already perfect, but so is Powder.

I’ve always hated romance, whether it was real life, or cinema. But this scene was incredible. I love them so goddamn much. Actually sickens me. They are everything to me.

Viktor and Jayce’s fight scene and…. Whatever that ending was, was gayer and more erotic than anything Violyn could fathom. Sorry guys. What the Hell was he doing cupping his face like that, wrapping his legs around him, faces mere centimetres away, all without actually being physically there but also exploding together in the astral plane?? The way he said ‘As partners’?? Likeeee, I ain’t never seen hand-to-hand combat like that. Look at these soulmates. Just as a platonic relationship I love it, and it’s wayyyy gayer than anything else. He chose dying with his space boyfriend over the insanely gorgeous Mel, who also got a fabulous glow up, is undoubtedly the hottest character in the show, ANDDDD has OP Arcane talents. Bravo Jayce, you simultaneously fumbled and won and disintegrated into nothing with your astronomical lab ‘partner’. Singed was right- One does unspeakable acts for love.

We got Viktor in Mel’s eyeshadow before G.T.A.6.. Slay my King. Thank you for your pretty little hallucinations, Jayce.

Alsoo, let us pay respects to this fine Yordle who waited over 100 years for Ekko, sure can sing, and sacrificed himself so that Ekko could get back to his right world.

I’m glad that at least ONE of my favourite characters had a happy ending. Singed wasn’t the most ethical scientist, but he sure is a Hell of a father for doing all that.

Sevika in the Council. She finally beat Silco’s corrupt underground empire and overcame the oppression Vander faced. She finally understood how he felt when she betrayed him, after the Zaunites wouldn’t listen to her, and now she can do something about it. So happy for her. She deserves it. The true leader of Zaun, everyone.

Alsoo, I’m a strong believer in the ‘Jinx is alive theory.

More critically however, I think there were too many needle drops (however good they were), the pacing was pretty rushed compared to Season One which was pure perfection, and I wish we got something more similar to League Viktor, because now Only-Arcane fans will not understand the true meaning of Glorious Evolution. I think Viktor’s character arc was over-simplified and I just feel empty about it. Kinda disappointed. He means so much to me. But damnnnn Jayce got validated as HELLLL. No complaints there. I hate him in League but always liked him in Arcane up till episode 6. Bro was just an idealist. Also their ending was ambiguous did they die together or just remain in the astral plane, forever integrated within the arcane. If Singed could save Orianna, can’t he find their corpses somewhere and save them?? I need cyborg Viktor. I wish we had the adventures of Blitzcrank and his cyborg father. I’m also bothered by that continuity error about Vander’s betrayal and when exactly it takes place. Also don’t like what they did with Silco’s character, in Ekko’s alternate world AND in the original world, because how could he just forgive Vander like that after all the hate he was always full of?? I’m sure there’s an explanation, but they didn’t have enough time to go into it.

This is the actual best show I have ever seen personally. Thanks for the stunning writing, flawless art-style, loveable characters and impeccable queer/disabled/POC representation. No other show has ever moved me so much. I hope Fortiche continues to make more series like this in the future. I love Runeterra and its Lore so much.

ARCANE SEASON 2, ACT 2 SPOILERS AHEAD:

I screamed he said it. Teared up, even. I’ve been waiting so long for this moment and it was perfect. Happiest I’ve been in a long time. IT MEANS A LOT TO ME, OKAYY??

Also I just want to say I never doubted him or the Cult. I would gladly join without hesitation, and I was never convinced the Hexcore or the Arcane was corrupting him. Brother just almost died in Act 1. How could he not feel betrayed and look exhausted?? How am I supposed to survive for the next seven days??

I don’t like to swear on my blog, but I deem this necessary. FUCK YOU TALIS, FUCK YOU FUCK YOU FUCK YOU. ROT IN STILLWATER HOLD. YOU DID NOT KEEP YOUR PROMISE. JUDAS ISCARIOT. DISRESPECTFULLY, FUCK YOU SIR.

Seen people saying this scene looks super uncomfortable and they’d hate it. But I think they’re missing the context and the empowerment. That wasn’t discomfort on her face at all. Perhaps at first she was a bit defensive but after?? Really strong scene. As usual.

This dynamic could’ve been soooo much worse, and I’m glad it wasn’t at least. Also skinny tin Machine Herald’s outfit is so fire.

THIS INTERACTION. I didn’t know if it would happen but I’m soooo glad it did. The fan service here with my Science Bros. My two favourites. Well, excluding Singed, but he was awesome too in his scenes AHHHH. Anyway, Viktor’s total sass, calling Jinx ‘Powder’. SHE DOESN’T THINK SHE’S CAPABLE OF DOING ANYTHING MORE THAN DESTRUCTION. THIS IS SAD. She needs people to show her how strong she is again. You knowwww, like Silco, but not out of pity, insecurity, or manipulation. Join the Cult, Jinxxxx!!

I’m adding more to this later but my head hurts from crying (I never cry with any movies at all since I was like, eight. This is the first time I’ve cried so hard), and I need to dislocate my knee right now, so until then!!

Sorry, but WHY DOES VIKTOR’S SKULL HAVE EYEBROWS?? I love him so much.

Why the HELL are they wearing all this Modern AU Gymwear?? Kinda weird, but such a fire intro: Turtleneck Caitlyn looking amazing in that one profile shot, Caitlyn holding her hands above her face in stress and casting a shadow that resembles a crown (ergo ‘Heavy is The Crown’ after her mother’s passing), Vi smearing her tattoo over with black paint, Viktor being Arcane Jesus but holding a very plain and undefined mask, the Violyn bit, Ambessa crushing the Black Rose, JINX WAVING THAT REVOLUTION FLAG AHHHHHHHH, and more.

Caitlyn and Sevika fight?? Most satisfying thing ever. Crush her, Sevika.🦾🦾

Alsoo, rip-off Silco. WHO IS THIS MAN?? DID SILCO STEAL HIS CLOTHES AND DYE THEM EVIL COLOURS?? I need answers. I dub him ‘Piltover!Silco’.

Also want to point out, Silco’s orange iris faded away when he died. He has no left eyelid, as I’ve seen an person say. Instead it’s just a black orb that blends in with the scar. You can see it disappearing during his death, similarly to when Vander “died”, the veins affected by a similar variant of Shimmer across his skin faded.

Jayce looks so stupid and tired here. Thank you Ekko for calling him out on his unethical science experiments. Teach him how to do proper science please, this man cannot think straight with everything he’s been through.

I’ll sort of miss Viktor’s gold eyes, but this constantly changing Arcane Opalescent thingy is soooooooo working for him. I know the Arcane might not be at all directly linked to Glorious Evolution, but all hail the church of the Gloriously Evolved.

Can there be a statue of this in Zaun?? This. This says so much. Vi sees not only what Powder could have been, but HERSELF in this kid. I’ve known a few kids like Isha, and even though she hasn’t spoken a word she’s already such a dear character to me. Amazing representation. It’s so understandable how much she looks up to Jinx, and she herself is a symbol or manifestation of Jinx’s followers (The first Inxes, possibly). She’ll prolly die, but I hope not.

Even his cane’s aura is blue. I love the Arcane Messiah.

Heimer and Ekko going into the Spiderverse, but it gives me trypophobia.

Sorry but I was wondering why she’d react this way to being bitten by Cait, likeeee okay she go “Bitch, you seriously think that’s gonna work? I raised JINX. I had my arm clipped off by a BOMB. I seen some freaky action in Zaun’s brothels and ALL are no match for your hoity-toity dainty ass”. It’s funny. So hard to not love Sevika.

No but Jayce didn’t have to draw Viktor’s hair and cheekbones on the board but he did. He’s canonically drawn him not once, but TWICE now. So silly.

Wake Up, Viktor Fans:

So I’m thinking this is nice. It’s certainly.. Something. I want to buy it and take care of him forever. He’s adorable. Honestly had lower expectations. Also, it’s absolutely HILARIOUS we got a major design leak from a bloody PONY. Priceless!! How can anyone be mad?? We all wanted him to get SOME merch acknowledgement.

Okay, so if we’re going to do a brief analysis of what little we have, because this still has some interesting things- Gold trimming that he didn’t have in League of Legends all over his armour, eye sockets in the mask that aren’t fully fiery yellow, different cane (although of course you can’t make much of it with such lack of detail), and the same cape from League, which we also see in the teaser trailer of Season 2. What intrigues me most, however is that familiar patch near the front of the cape.

Also, what if the little circles on the hooves (maybe armour cuffs around the arms and legs) are this weird little golden circles on the robes of the fanatic people. I just thought these were simple decorations they made to distinguish each other from the ‘unenlightened’ Zaunites, but now I think they serve some sort of practical function, if the Machine Herald himself is wearing them. Perhaps an alternate way of stabilising Hextech without needing Shimmer or ruins. Not to mention, they DO look slightly organic and irregular, even compared to the cartoonish steampunk-ish aesthetics of the show. So not entirely mechanised.

Overall cute design, restores my faith in his Season 2 Arc despite what I’ve been seeing people write.

Also, side note- OH MY GOSHHHH, is it just me or does anyone get trypophobia from all the Arcane-y orb stuff?? Like, last Season, it was easy to brush off, but this time round, I want to cringe and run away every time I see that goopy Coronavirus-looking orb of webs. But if it means more Viktor content, I’ll just keep putting up with it.
