The Pit
It is usually described like drowning
You're in the open ocean, the sun beaming down, a gentle breeze, and you're drowning
You call out for help just to sink lower and lower, the water grabbing onto your ankles and dragging you into the unknown
You beg but no one hears
I always thought of it as falling
For me
I'm in a beautiful green field,
The green trees moving to the gentle breeze
the hot sun keeping me warm,
the lovely colours of summer surrounding me
Green, yellow, blue swallowing me whole
Then I look down to my feet and where the green grass was is now
A pit
5 inches up to my ankles only;
I blink then 10 inches
I blink, then 1 foot
I blink, 3 foot
I blink, 5
I blink, 10 and-
I'm falling
I try to scream but nothing comes out
The hairs on my arms stay still
I fall
I fall hundreds of miles and feel nothing
I look up and I see the sun
The kind sun, trying to keep me warm,
Singing an ancient song of comfort
But I fall and the sun disappears
The warmth has gone and I fall into the unknown
the void consuming everything that is me
My thoughts, my heart, my soul
And leaving an empty shell forever falling
I beg and no one hears
THIS is the FIRST piece of writing I've produced in TWO years. It's a very rough first draft but I'm so happy I feel inspired again after so long. It's terrible I've got a long way to go but I'm happy nonetheless!!!
