honestly i think it's a bit of a lost art with some younger fans these days to just like............do things? people hold themselves back from making amvs, gifs, writing fic or drawing art, etc etc because "they don't know how" but the truth is a lot of us didn't have that knowledge handed to us, we looked at what other people were doing and then tried to copy that in our own way. and yeah the first hundred thousand words you write are probably going to be kind of shit. and the first gifsets you make will probably be grainy. your amvs will be clumsily edited, and your first year or two of drawing will make you cringe in the future. but if you don't try, you'll never improve! and these days there's so many more resources out there with the internet being so large—art tutorials for specific things, gifmaking guides handed around that compile the steps down the the finest details, writers who talk about their processes, amv makers/vidders who are more than happy to share what transitions or text overlays they use. and i sometimes want to take people by the shoulders and say, just try! take the first leap! the worst you can do is make it badly, and made badly is better than not made at all.
In thinking about the Glinda/Elphaba/Fiyero I had a thought that has permanently changed how I perceive the Fiyero (who I am generally pretty "meh" about.) Narratively, Fiyero represents Glinda's heart's desire and conscience. He does, and says, everything she WANTS but feels she cannot do.
If you think of him not so much as a separate character but an expression of Glinda's internal conflict IT MAKES SO MUCH SENSE. And also, personally, it gives me some joy to think that some part of her DID end up following Elphaba. He is Glinda's happy ending that she was too scared to chase.
In summary, if "Wicked" was all some kind of wild fever dream the same way the "Wizard of Oz" movie was for Dorothy at the end, Fiyero would be the heteronormative self-insert Glinda imagined for herself, vicariously living out the fantasy of chasing her true heart's desire.

Doomed yuri, what would I do without you?
ever since i learned about ghost buildings i haven't been able to stop thinking about them
this is body horror
something in wfg that really almost killed me is the scoring of the melting, the way that almost haunting ochestral chorus line of NOMTW swells over the scene while glinda watches from the closet. because yh. one mourns the wicked. one will mourn the wicked for the rest of her damn life.
99 percent sure Glinda was supposed to return those keys so this implies she stole school property for the sole purpose of adding it to her little museum of sad gay nostalgia, this fuckin dyke 😭
the problem with the catfight scene isn't that it's too much of a joke. because honestly the book version is 100x funnier. glinda and elphaba reunite after like two decades and elphaba's first words are "wow glinda you look terrible wtf are you wearing" and glinda gets so turned on her brain goes out the window and she starts being racist in like three different ways. then glinda tells elphaba about how she's given an important family heirloom to a random ass kid from the sticks but makes sure she draws attention to her pushed up bosom as she does it. and elphaba doesn't even care cuz she's pissed about the shoes and glinda's like "well those shoes won't make your father love you" and her dumb gay ass starts crying about how elphie abandoned her. the musical has nothing on that
doomed yuri cocaine overdose
glinda might be the most spiritually lesbian character ever created like her whole thing is that her perfect glamorous fairytale life and heterosexual engagement feels empty and hollow and she yearns for her college roommate who she can't have because she's terrified of the social isolation she'll face as a result. she hides the real parts of herself in a literal closet and her big moment is coming out of the closet by popping the bubble and rushing to reunite with the girl she couldn't bring herself to be with earlier. and in the wicked books she's in a sham marriage to an old infertile guy she dgaf about but starts sobbing whenever someone mentions her college roommate and everything she does revolves around this woman she knew for less than two years and sharing a bed with her made her feel brave and vulnerable and its like the only thing she remembers from her trip to meet the president. and she's based off a character who was created by LFB as a testament to the suffragettes and female empowerment and she doesn't let men into her court typically and lives with one hundred of the most beautiful women in oz at her beck and call
