Hi I have like some hcs for FT. So Happy has ADHD,, poor kid just fixates on fish he likes fish okay. Natsu gets him a little fish plushie & he l o v e s it to death. Now we all know how Happy has a human form so he has a little magic bat that changes sizes with him like Pantherlillies sword & yes the bat has FISHES.

Happy gets very hyperactive & starts to feel very insecure when Carla gets annoyed with him because Happy knows he's not normal but Natsu never cared about it so why does she???? And like little happy who just wants to be friends,,, gets sad & Natsu notices. Happy gets to have a talk & get tested & when Natsu says he never actually thought something was up with Happy (I'm not gonna say " wrong " because having ADHD isn't fucking wrong & I seriously hope I got my point across with my wording but I am putting this in just in case.) And Erza makes Natsu get tested & turns out they both have ADHD. Natsu fixates on dragons & fighting! Happy gets overwhelmed a lot & Natsu always helps him to ground himself. Gray got them both a little fidget cube & Happy started crying. He noticed happy fidgets with his bat.

They use their little cubes constantly. If Natsu has to focus Erza pulls out sweets she carries to help him. Happy doesn't exactly likes sweets so he refuses to eat them. When Natsu hyperfixates during a fight it takes a few hours for him to calm down. Gray is especially good with helping him be grounded. Erza has Autism & she cannot fucking STAND HIGH PITCHED NOISES. She gets mad about them & sometimes doesn't understand that it's not okay to get mad in certain situations but Lucy helps calm her down & break down the situation for her. Erza loves her armour because to her it acts like a weighted blanket keeping her grounded most of the time so she hates being out of her armour. She likes to keep to her schedule or else she gets anxious. If her routine is messed up slightly she just cries a little to help calm herself down & then takes a deep breath. She can't stand it when Natsu & Happy are late to the train station. Gray is now required to drag the both of them there on time.

Lucy has very bad anxiety that causes her to lash out in anger when she's overwhelmed. She's working on not lashing out at people. Lucy is trying to voice when she feels overwhelmed but her and Erza came up with a non verbal que because words are hard some times. So if she can't say it she will tap one of her team members twice on the shoulder. She likes tea & books to help calm her down. Erza has a kettle & tea bags + a book (Lucy's favorite) & a thermos at all times.

Gray has ADHD + Autism part of the reason he can understand Erza & Natsu. The combination means Gray gets pissed about loud screeching noises. He can't stand two pieces of metal grinding together he will fucking lose it. Gray doesn't sleep well & can't understand his friends sometimes. Like he knows they are talking but the words don't register. Natsu will burn candles in his house & make Gray drink sleepy time tea so he will nap. He manages maybe 4-5 hours of sleep if he's lucky and 3 if he's not. He intrupts conversations sometimes on accident and immediately after realizes what he did. The team never gets mad they know he's working on it.

Together they make the group of people that come off wrong constantly. People think Erza is mean & a bitch but really she just doesn't understand what's happening & is trying to express herself but again isn't really doing that in a " normal " way. People think Gray is an asshole because who intrupts conversations & snaps at people for existing but Gray's just actually overwhelmed and is trying to express that he wants the noise to stop & just got excited & wanted to share something. People think Lucy is a bitch because she just randomly snaps at people but she's shaking while she does it because she's overwhelmed & no one is quieting down. People think Natsu & Happy are childish and stupid but they aren't and they are genuinely smart people.

Just Team Natsu (or has I named them: Team Kick-ass) being supportive of one another & understanding each other. (Natsu has Dyslexia also AND NO NONE OF YOU GET TO FIGHT ME ON THIS).

Was there anything in canon that states their blood relationship to each other? I believe in japan marrying cousins isn't as much of a taboo as it is in the west (but idk if that is still the same now) it's smt i"ve been wondering since forever xD

So this is actually a more complicated question to answer than it might seem, as it has a lot to do with Japanese family dynamics and what type of family the Sohma appear to be.

But to answer the question at the top - yes, in Japan you can marry your cousin. Family relationships are categorized by levels and you cannot marry anyone within the first 3 levels of relationship (parents, grandparents, siblings, children). Cousins are in level 4, so they can be married. 

But that doesn’t necessarily mean the characters in Fruits Basket are cousins. As glindabubbles explains in this post:

“The Japanese language has a limited vocabulary for family members. There isn’t a way to say “second cousin twice removed on my mother’s side”. They just don’t have it. In Japanese, anyone who isn’t you mom, dad, sibling, aunt uncle, or grandparent is your “cousin”. The word for this is  いとこ (itoko). It’s a catch all word that covers absolutely everybody. (There is a word for second cousin but it is very rarely used.) Everybody in your clan is your itoko: absolutely everybody. The reason for this is that the Japanese like to keep their sentences short. They do not add more words than necessary, and the language is largely based on context clues. In spoken Japanese, no one will go to the trouble of introducing someone as how they are actual related. It will simply be, “This is my cousin, Haru.” Which, in Fruits Basket, is fancy way of saying that they share the same family name.” 

We can say with certainty that the characters in the Sohma family who refer to each other as “cousins” are not literal cousins, as in their parents’ siblings’ kids, but rather are using the term “cousins” in the above sense - they are part of the same family. How they are part of that family is where it becomes a bit more complicated. The Sohma family as it exists in Fruits Basket is actually in a very unique position - families like it don’t typically exist in Japan anymore. In fact, in many ways which the Sohma family operate, they wouldn’t be able to exist, as the legal ramifications of such a family are not currently allowed under Japanese Family Law, since it was revised under the influence of allied occupation following WWII. This is both acknowledged slightly within the story and by Takaya herself. Hatori and Momiji note at Tohru’s surprise when Momiji explains their family that it is “not in today’s customs”. Which is a bit of an understatement. 

And Natsuki Takaya stated in an interview once that she just “pretend[s] family registers and whatnot don’t exist in the Furuba world”. Family Registers (koseki) in Japan record information such as births, marriages, divorces, deaths, etc. for one family. It is a single document that functions to record the same information as birth certificates, marriage licenses, the census, and such documents in other countries. Except in Japan it is done by family rather than individual. The Sohma family’s Koseki and other important legal documents would find them to be breaking a lot of laws. 

The point of all this is to say, how the characters within the Sohma family are related, and how they act towards one another romantically, has less to do with actual law in Japanese society, and more with how the Sohma family are a very fictional creation by Natsuki Takaya. They seem to be something between a Japanese ancient clan and a Japanese ie system. They are a very old and very wealthy family, and if we can assume according to legend within the narrative that the Sohma and the curse are about as old as time itself, in actual Japanese history they would have gone through several iterations of how families operate. They resemble a Japanese clan, in that they are and have been a very powerful and wealthy family. Japanese clans usually had connections to samurai - I don’t see any reason why samurai might not have been involved in the Sohma family back in the day! But that’s just speculation. In as much as the Sohma do resemble a clan, the important piece to take away from there is that clans were people connected by a single common ancestor (in the Sohma’s case this could be the first generation of cursed members) and owned a lot of land, where the unrelated families living on that land would eventually take the clan name. This means that, if the Sohma were/are a clan, the various households on the “outside” that get talked about (which any cursed member could be born into) may have the Sohma name, but only by historical ownership of the greater Sohma clan (which would be the center family within the main house - the head of household and his lineage), and not by actual blood relation.   

The Sohma family also resemble a traditional ie system (a type of family system in Japan - the one that was formally abolished after WWII), which began to take hold just as the clan associations were dying out (although it never fully did and if the Sohma were a clan their associations obviously still exist in modern day). This has more to do with the way the family operates than actual lineage, but what we can take away about family relations from the ie system is that in really large families like the Sohma, people leave the main household to start their own households, and people are sometimes brought into the family who are completely unrelated. The ie has more to do with what the family believes in and protection of a symbolic group than actual blood relations. Seeing as the Sohma family is so old, and has so many branch households, it is likely that if they separated from the main household through the ie system, they did so many generations ago. This would mean that those between the households probably are related in some way, by blood or marriage, but with so many generations between them it is very distantly. So, the Sohma do appear to resemble some fantasy combination between an ancient Japanese clan and traditional Japanese ie. Since the Sohma family is so old they could very well be a natural combination of both within the narrative itself, but it is more likely they are a conceptual combination by Takaya. In this way, it is impossible to say exactly how the Sohma family members are related but it is without a doubt to say that they are not literal cousins, or closely related at all. They are either very distantly related or not related in any blood sense. And as for those within the family dating and possibly marrying each other? Perfectly legal. But perhaps a bit weird, if only by virtue of the fact that in reality the Sohma family is weird on the whole.
