it's really interesting how the brothers fates and ways of living kinda mirrors their parents relationship: vergil cool headed like his father sparda choose to go above and beyond in pursuit of his father's legacy and heritage and the redacted p– word that functions like a drug (he kinda failed but that's not the point) like for him sparda is both the goal and mountain to destroy (and we watched him win and fail miserably at the same time, but that's not the point) therefore vergil most become a devil. meanwhile dante choose to be the kind of boy who makes his mother proud, and embraced humanity like sure he uses his sick devil powers disregarding his own safety, being reckless and kinda depressed (verrrrry depressed actually), yet in that honouring of humanity he couldn't help in following her steps so the same as her mother; dante's waiting for her/his beloved (sparda - in dante's case: vergil) to return to her/him from the underworld (?) (even from death) because to stay human is to love. like there's such and obvious vergil = sparda therefore, dante = eva and it's making me go mad bananas.
