Didn’t Get the Memo (YooSeven)
Silly angel and demon au thing, prompt from @sugarcoated-wishes
what is heaven had like office jobs? dumb idea, but i played with it psht
Working in the Heaven district office was almost like an office job. Clock in at nine, do some paperwork on sin and vow recordings, call a few clients, break for lunch and go home. It helped pass the time, and Seven was alright with that. Besides- if he didn’t have guardian angel status, he’d just be sitting around, waiting for the years to pass.
At least he felt like he had a purpose doing this.
Yoosung felt kind of bad for him. Every angel knew that they couldn’t see themselves in the mirror, and even comprehending what oneself looked like was mind boggling. Yoosung could barely remember his hair color.
But this was getting ridiculous.
He perked up from his desk, watching as Seven plopped down in his seat and started up his computer. He could see the tips of his horns poking out over the cubicle divider. Didn’t he feel those? Wasn’t there a pressure on his head? Yoosung honestly couldn’t wrap his mind around it. How did he not know that he had fallen?
Perhaps it was just that no one cared. People didn’t tend to talk to Seven regularly, perhaps only the occasional hello, but nothing else than that. Maybe that might have been why he couldn’t tell the different. No one treated him differently, maybe just moving a little bit extra out of his way when he went around the office, but nothing other than that.
After a decade had passed, Yoosung decided that it was enough, and during his lunch break- he approached the demon.
“Hello, Seven. I’m Yoosung. I work in Communications.” It was hard to greet the demon so casually, the sight of him, horns, tattered wings, and sharp eyes was enough to chill his soul. But he had to do this.
Seven raised a brow, surprised that he was approached so casually and out of nowhere. He held a hand out, and Yoosung hesitated in shaking it. “Nice to meet you, Yoosung. I work in Miracles.”
After the breaking of their silence, Yoosung felt himself get more comfortable, and he looked with more fondness at Seven. “Do- Do you want to grab lunch real quick, take a little break? We can chat a little…” He suggests softly, his wings tucking in as shyness flooded him.
“You want to get lunch with me?” Seven looked more shocked than anything, and he began shuffling in his seat. He was usually so calm, going with the flow, minding his own business- but interacting with Yoosung was pulling him in a direction he hadn’t anticipated. “I- yeah- yeah I would love to get lunch with you. Do you want to go now?”
When he shoots up from his seat, determination fueling his motions, his serpentine tail whips back and forth in a manner similar to a dog. Yoosung almost flinched- but he swallowed the lump in his throat and smiled genuinely. There was something about the demon’s excitement, his desire to be included, that really resonated with Yoosung. “Sure- we can go now.”
They ate in jovial silence, breaking it only to talk of work and about past lives, wondering what would have happened if they had met once before. As their conversation wore on- Yoosung just couldn’t seem to gain the courage to tell him the truth, that he wasn’t an angel anymore. Perhaps, for now, that was okay. One could live in blissful ignorance if only shortly, right?
Plus- they had thousands of years to go over it, he knew it would come up in its own time.
In the meantime though, he relished in the feeling of Seven holding his hand, his claws pointed but very delicate. Of course, Seven didn’t see it, just the silky smoothness like human hands would, but that made it somewhat more real to Yoosung.
And that was okay for now.
