Wait. Personality test. Reblog with whether you hate it when someone sings along to the music in the car or you think singing along is cool. Personally, I HATE it.
This has gotta be one of the funniest things I've ever seen. 😂😂😂
Remember to eat, my loves! There's a whole world of delicious joy awaiting you!
I think it would be really fucking funny to write a piece of fiction set entirely in real life but using lazy fantasy worldbuilding talk. I gather coin* for the road west** - I will need it to enter the Capital.***
* two quarters and two dimes
** Interstate 64
*** Richmond, Virginia
I must traverse the treacherous way north* to visit my lover at their place of learning. This city is a crossroads, positioned near the boundary point of a dark land we try not to visit.** It is an ancient place, riddled with the memory of the War.***
* Interstate 95
** Northern Virginia
*** American Civil
The road north is blocked by enemy forces.* I fear we will be overpowered if we continue,** and never reach our destination.*** Let us abandon the road and take the ancient mountain pass.**** We will mind the cruel structures of bygone years***** as you go.
* northern virginians
** get vehicular manslaughtered by a tesla driver just outside the mixing bowl
*** west maryland
**** cut through loudon county

we've got a life to love living.
advice that has literally saved and improved my life
Aldis Hodge as Alec Hardison in Leverage (2008—2012)
John Rogers, proving himself once again to be an entire vibe.
John Rogers is the creator of two of my favorite things:
Leverage and Leverage: Redemption, show(s) about criminals who team up to punish billionaires and corporations who take advantage of regular people in ways that the law won't punish. It's a great heist show, it's hilarious, it's satisfying in a vengeance sort of way, it's deeply nerdy in sometimes subtle ways (criminals using aliases from Doctor Who, anyone?), and seeing the characters and relationships develop is really nice, too.
The following quote: "There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old's life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs."
John Rogers is one third of my Rogers philosophy.
Mr Rogers: Be kind
Steve Rogers: Do the right thing
John Rogers: Billionaires steal more than all the street crime combined.
you’re as much of a fan of your comfort show / movie / blorbo as any other fan, even if you don’t have a “big and popular account” or if you’ve never written a fic or made a fan art about the fandom you’re in.
you’re as much of a fan of your comfort show / movie / blorbo as any other fan, even if you don’t talk about said comfort show / movie / blorbo online or to anybody and just quietly take comfort from them in private.
don’t let today’s popularity contest make you feel less valid than other people in the fandom. because fandom is never about “popularity” or “going viral”. it’s about the comfort and joy you get from enjoying what brings you comfort and joy.
your dashboard is supposed to be at LEAST halfway full of shit you have no context for and fandoms you're not involved in. it is the natural way of the universe
I love how Leverage went
Here's the cat burglar. She wears comfy clothes and has zero social skills. She has sex appeal but only if you're into a very specific type of woman, and crucially she has zero idea she has it. She probably doesn't know what an innuendo is.
Here's the hacker. He's a Black nerd, and also the most moral character of the bunch. He's a nerd but also not socially awkward; in fact, he's the second best at grifting, right after the person who's been doing it for decades.
Here's the muscle. In his heart of hearts, he is a chef. He is tough and manly but he uses that to look out for the working class and children and everyone else the system leaves behind. He's feared by politicians and he reminds his friend to tip the delivery person.
Here's the femme fatale. She's over forty years old, and she's the one seducing the mark. She's the heart of the team. Her calling is to be a director. She loves attending her own funeral.
Here's the mastermind. He's the only one who doesn't start out as a career criminal. He manipulates his own crew, kills two people after promising them he won't, and takes deals behind their back. He was in seminary school.
Also, here's their nemesis. He's Mark Sheppard.
Calling myself out with this one
just truly bonkers how much i love lying down……….like being horizontal? unparalleled
"Subverting Expectations" what if we made it instead what if the story was kind what if we got to keep living and learning, not leaving a lesson behind what if the battle was over and we came through with hardly a mark and the sun still came up, and the world still kept turning and we found our way out of the dark? what if we laid down our burdens what if we got to grow old filling the rest of our peaceful existence with stories too dull to be told what if the sunsets were rosy and the credits rolled down on a kiss what if the ending was picture-book happy what if it happened like this what if tomorrow, when the guns have all stilled we sat out and looked up at the stars the future unwritten, a page to be filled what if, just once, it was ours?
i feel like it says something about us as a species that somebody worked real hard to invent 3D printing when i think anyone who has ever used a printer would agree with me that we have not really gotten our arms around 2D printing yet. we’re getting ahead of ourselves.
anyway, i saved this one to send to my coworker and now you hang above our single staff printer in our very busy library and we get to look at you as this printer fails us day after day.
it’s an honor to be affiliated with a frustration that is so near and dear to my heart
#sometims you just want to take the printer out back and beat it with baseball bats (@el-oh-el-oh-el)
Our fates are sealed. But I think we have one move left.
We can try.
can we please talk about Thread by Keane?
for some reason i never really paid attention to the song at all and never gave it a full listen, but today i listened to the whole Cause And Effect album paying extreme attention to the songs (to make the album review, i'll post it soon) i don't listen to basically never, and when Threads came in i was like... what the hell?
i mean, the song in general is SO AWESOME it had me in fucking tears, and for some reason my brain reminded me of the fact that i (somewhere, somehow) read or heard that the person who wrote the song was Tim and it was about his (first?) marriage
so i cried more
AND THEN i went to YouTube to see if i could find something related to this or the actual Tom saying something about it, AND WHAT DID I FOUND?
Thread's demo
who sings the song in the entire demo?
bloddy Tim Rice-Oxley
THAT MAN HAS ME IN TEARS
Hearing Tim's demo really illustrated something Tom said about those first songs that made it to Cause and Effect: that he (Tim) wasn't making excuses or anything in them. Because the demo is making no excuses, while the album version that Tom sings veers a little into sounding like making excuses... or maybe just having turned up the emotion knob on his voice has the same effect, I dunno.
Both versions are beautiful, but they hit in slightly different emotional ways.
