I really want to write an EnjiRei oneshot where he realizes she never learned how to cook. Because this is how I see their different upbringings:

Endeavor

Poor background Frugal upbringing Self-sufficient Knows how to cook

Rei

Wealthy family, even if declining Wealthy family in denial still hiring household staff Wealthy family holding the belief household chores are for 'the help' and not respectable daughters Never learned how to cook

And Endeavor's just fucking baffled by this knowledge gap because to him, not knowing how to cook is like not knowing how to read. It's a basic life skill that everyone should know. It's not an angry realization because I do love the tragedy of their relationship being healthy at one point in time.

Endeavor: ...your parents never mentioned you couldn't cook.

Rei: They probably assumed you could afford to hire staff and didn't think it was important for me to know.

Enji: Technically yes, I can, but... frugal upbringing, didn't see a reason to hire people for a job he could do himself

I mean, I have already written a couple times throughout Ambush Sim that he was technically homeless because he just lived in the office. He didn't see the point in buying property when his workplace had a break room kitchen, shower facilities, and he could just put a futon on the floor and call it a night. (Mind you, this was the small office he started out in before his agency made it big.) He really only bought the house because of Rei and their children.

Her parents were suitably impressed by the property and his assets and had no further questions.

And then there's Rei. "I think you're completely underestimating the depths of my family's arrogance and how that impacted my upbringing."

I see a lot of people painting Hizashi Yamada as this 'comfortable with his sexuality and expressing himself in feminine ways' guy. Mr. "Boys don't cry", Mr. "I'm not comfortable in showing my emotions", Mr. "Bakugou acted like a villain by not letting a girl win". Are we sure we are talking about the same guy? Canon Hizashi Yamada is the most repressed man existing. He'd rather be hootin' and hollerin' than actually acknowledging that something is bothering him. He'd rather tease Aizawa than touch upon any serious topic ever. I love him dearly, but damn, it makes my heart die a little each time I see him portrayed as 'the sunshine femboy'.
