Hi guys!! Thank you so much for blogging. This post, into the one or two people who have donated to my coffee, I still need some more money in order to move away from my stalker so if you wouldn’t mind encouraging your friends to donate even one dollar, I could really use your help!!! donations work best but thanks for sharing it around anyways!! Phantom's Room: *trashed and messy with three broken space shuttles, a torn poster, and multiple glow in the dark stars tangled in the carpet instead of stuck on the ceiling*
Robin, Young Justice cowering behind him: We're so sorry Phantom! It was an accident, I swear! We were just-We were just-
Phantom, voice tight: Robin, silence.
Robin: *shuts his mouth*
Phantom: Right now, I am á̰̘̠̺͎͖ͤ͂n̴̵̘̲̳͚̠ͣ͂g̶̪̤̗͍ͭ͌̋̔ṙ̶̻͖͒͂̍̉y̸̖̝̻̞̾͛ͫͤͣ̍͋. However, instead of ruining the timeline by personally "escorting" you all to the Realms with my b̷̏͗͗ͨ͗̔͗̃a̸̞̦̫̹̜ͪ̑͂r̵̷̦̹͔̪̬͍̙ͦ̆̅͛̂ͮ̋e͎̞͇̥͛̀ͣ̋ͯ̓̅ h̸͕͙̣̼̖͈̗ͧͩ͋͆ͧ̋͛a̸͕͖̍n̷̶͎͈̖̟̮̙͎̆͂ͧ̔͋͛d̷̥͔̙̙̲̃ͣ͐ͅs̵̨̻̺̫͈̭̬̯͒̃ͭͪ̑ͅ like I so desperately want to, I am instead going to the Realms to brawl with my fellow ghosts. Young Justice: *gulping as they all nod their heads frantically*
Phantom: Good. Now get ǫ̷͚ͯu̝̘̟̫̮̪̳̜ͧ͒ţ̶̥̹̌͌̃͗ͤ͊́̎!̴̵̱̻͉̗͔̞̥̳͌͑ͩ̍ *shoves them out of his now trashed room and slams the door behind them*
Kid Flash: Well, that went well.
Young Justice: *groans*
Artemis: Did Phantom just insinuate, that if it wouldn't ruin the timeline, he would have killed us?
Robin: A moment of silence as thanks to the timeline for saving our lives.
Danny revealed his identity to his parents, and it went great! They retracted their previous investigation and were working on new articles that proved ghosts were sentient. As is usual with the Fenton's, they were very vocal about their change in opinion, which meant it wasn't long before the GIW knew about it.
They could not have articles defending ghosts sentience. The Fenton's started receiving a lot of threats, but never gave even an inch. They were two weeks from finishing their article when an "accident" took the whole family. Danny as the only survivor due to his ghostly nature, but he needed to lay low.
He was looking for ways to get justice for his family and finally get the GIW shut down, when he found an article about a lab involved in illegal meta experimentation being shut down due to an article.
The authors of said Article?
Lois Lane and Clark kent.
Que to Danny visiting the Daily Planet and very smoothly using his powers to get past any security and straight to Lois's desk.

Danny has been living in Gotham for a couple of months. Vlad has been going through his redemption arc after Danny's family death over a year ago placed Danny in his care. There were a lot of mix feelings at those first months, and the redemption process has been bumpy at best, but living with Vlad isn't anywhere nearly as bad as it was.
Danny will forever miss his family, but he's glad for the change it has brought Vlad, because he really was missing on having a Halfa adult looking after him. Even thought he'll never refer to Vlad in any parental term on principle alone. No, it'll take centuries before that particular trauma blows away.
The point is. Vlad had been working on his redemption, and Danny had been healing beside him, and things are going sort of okay. Vlad is getting into getting his money more legally, and paying old mistakes due to Danny's bothering, and Danny's been helping where possible.
He first meets Timothy Drake-Wayne in a charity event for families of people lost during rogue attacks. Danny is not usually actively flirted by handsome people, he does not know that to do. He's barely keeping up with Tim, yet somehow ends with a date? How?
-_-_-_-
The bats have been investigating Vlad for a long time now, but it has always been a low priority investigation as no actual major things have been linked to Vlad... At least, not until recently. Recently Vlad has moved to Gotham with his ward, and major red flags immediately appeared.
Problem? Vlad is apparently an expert covering his own tracks, they can't find any actual evidence on the masks tampering.
They hadn't looked to deep into his ward, but after witnessing Danny participating beside Vlad in the last auction, Tim is willing to bet that even if he doesn't result to be an active participant, he isn't completely ignorant to what Vlad's been doing.
So it's a little unconventional for the tools they have this days, but Tim has decided to try and charm Danny until they're both so close that he could get some information.

Danny has gotten very good at getting into and exploring the internet. Not only from having to follow Technus through it, but also because it was fun!
So it shouldn't have been a surprise that when the time came when he had to escape Amity Park for good, he did it through the web. He had never gone outside the city's servers before, so he did get a bit lost, but soon he was exploring all around the world.
He knew he had to get out of the web eventually, but the persecution had left him a little traumatized. It was safe in there, and he was healing well, or at least his pixelated body seemed okay. And okay, maybe online food was a little tasteless and numbed his tongue, but it was keeping him fed, so who cared.
Through his exploration, he's found something strange though. It doesn't matter which server he jumps to, he always sees traces of the same digital signature. If he wasn't literally within the internet, he wouldn't have noticed, but it becomes easier to identify the more he sees it. So he eventually decides to follow.
That's how Danny ends up in Oracle's computer, and there was SO much to explore here.
---
Something has gotten into her system. She hasn't told anyone yet. There's a big stakeout going on, and the bats and birds can't risk getting distracted, but it is driving her crazy.
She's been using her laptop for her Oracle activities to decrease the risk of the thing getting any information on current patrols, but she hasn't been able to lock it out of the data stored on her main computer or erase enough information to keep it away from anything sensitive.
It has been beyond stressful doing everything on a simple laptop after years of using her constantly upgraded setup.
Oracle can't even identify what it is. It isn't behaving like a virus or spyware, but more importantly, she can't get rid of it. It keeps avoiding all her attempts... almost as if it were alive.
After another frustrated night guiding the vigilantes of Gotham with her laptop, she decides to try and communicate with whatever did this. She creates an open chat.
She doesn't think it will actually get any results, but soon she's getting a text."Your computer is crazy!" accompanied by an anime-like emoticon of a pale boy with green eyes and white hair blinking.
---
Or: From what I've seen, Oracle is carrying a crazy amount of work, and I think she deserves a little helper.
And before that Babara didn't know he couldn't leave to taste the food for himself. So she tried really hard to explain to the AI thingy how tastes work. Like explaining the colors of the sky to a blind person. She's trying to compare sweetness to kitten videos. And explains how hot can be both a sense of taste and a temperature. At least the ai should know temperature right? The servers can overheat
A part of Batman's character that I don't see much discussion or debate is how he was the first human without powers in the Justice League. This means he established the rules of safety, combat, and equipment for the others through experience. When they try to teach the younger heroes, they're like, "Pffft, of course it's obvious, why is there a rule about this?" And the older Justice League members don't know how to explain the safety rule about not throwing heroes without powers because Batman was thrown a little too hard and had to continue fighting with broken bones, or the rule about not flying too close to them at high speed so they don't burst their eardrums. The reason? Because Batman experienced that firsthand he went through everything, first as a human fighter among gods. He and Green Arrow hold meetings to review and confirm the safety rules every few months

"Hey, Rob!"
Tim lifts his head, and Bart gestures to him. He sets down his dumbells and starts across the room.
"Do you know what Protocol 23 is?"
"Protcol 23: Justice League members may not take off at super speed, flight, or jumps within proximity to other members of their team. Exemptions are allowed for Kryptonians, Amazons, and other team members on a case-by-case basis, but doing so will result in investigation for mal intent, and suspension—"
Cassie holds up a hand. "Why do you know it word for— that's not the point. We're not talking about that. Look at this."
She gestures him to the monitors, and he leans over Bart's shoulder to look, the others filling in around them.
Bart clicks play, and Tim grins. "Ooo, baby Batman. That's one of his first suits."
"Yeah, but look at the file name." Cissie reaches past him, rapping her nail on the screen, and he hums. "Protocol 23."
Bruce fights back-to-back with Clark on screen, and Tim leans on the chair Bart is tucked into, arms crossed. "You interrupted my workout to watch B fight? You know I can do that every night if I wanted to, right?"
"Shut up." Kon shoves his shoulder, and they share a childish grin.
There's a sonic boom over the sounds of fighting, quickly followed by a familiar grunt. Clark can be seen in the background, holding off a swarm, while Bruce wavers and drops to his knees.
Blood seeps past the edges of his cowl, and Tim clenches his fingers so hard the leather upholstery creaks under his grip, watching B fall further, onto his elbows, head bowed. The footage is blocked as Diana comes into view, rushing to Bruce's side, and the scene swaps.
"Where did you find this?" he growls, watching Barry do the same to him. Clark, again. Barry again.
"I was bored," Kon explains, looking at him worriedly. "We were...we ended up pretty deep into the Watchtower's database." He leans over Bart, taking the mouse, and clicks out.
To rows and rows of files for JL protocols.
23 is the first. Which makes sense, one through twenty-two are regarding JL processes, then— Protocol 23 is where they start looking at preventing injury.
Kon clicks on 24.
All enhanced Justice League members must undergo training on handling extraction to prevent further injury to casualties.
Tim's vision goes red as he watches Bruce bite back a scream as Arthur lifts him too brashly, and his arm visibly dislocates. That shoulder still gives him trouble to this day.
I desperately need more of this! This is amazing! Thank you so much for writing it!
Bruce looking at Tim low-key confused about Tim's reaction because of course something had to happen for those rules to be in place. Back in the day there was no base for how people with enhanced abilities interacted with normal humans. No one knew how little idea this people had regarding humans limits, or how easily a well meaning action could roll down into an emergency, all of that had to come from experience. You know the saying: Where there's a rule there's a story! And as first generation, as the experiment generation, Bruce was the story. Every. Single. Time.
The Bat kids unsure what to think about random JL member being so protective of them about friendly fire because they also have no context about how bad it could have been.
JL member after giving newbie a hard long lecture, and checking bat kid up and down over and over and asking about a million questions that couldn't be answered because there wasn't space between.
Bat kid side eyeing them: I-I'm okay, really. You can stop checking now...
Part 1 || Part 2 || Part 3 || Part 4 || Read on Ao3: Here
The move went... more or less. It Went. But nobody died, nothing was broken and I did get to sleep properly these past few months. But between the writer's curse hitting me, getting distracted (again) by getting into Wuthering Waves. (May or may not be uploading fics for it) Also found the Scum Villain series at the local manga store that popped up while I was away from home. Was pricy, but totally worth it<3
Also I want you guys to know this was painful for me to write. Y'all had better appreciate what I sacrificed to make myself write this.
Danny is exactly as the others described, Barbara thinks. Sure she's seen a few pictures the others snapped of him- well, the oddly blurred around the edges photos. Tim's frustrated griping about the pins and strings of his crazy wall, trying to guesstimate what powers Danny actually had, had several new ones added after learning that. Griping she couldn't help but agree with, considering she'd found absolutely nothing on this kid either. The usual suspect lists on the black market made several mentions of kids who couldn't be photographed, but none seemed to match Danny. It would be easier if they knew more about his powers than Duke's shrugging and claiming he 'kinda glows' and some slightly enhanced skills. The closest thing they had to something concrete- his near-death like sleeping habits- could be just about anything.
Still, actually looking at him right now? He looks so ordinary. Like any kid you'd pick up off the street, if that kid happened to have been bought some slightly pricy clothes by Dick and Duke. And if that kid happened to be embarrassed about being dragged into her library by the other batgirls. And, perhaps, if that kid had someone with red hair in his life that he lost recently. From the way his face twisted, dropped, and went politely blank in the first few moments was any indication.
"We have plenty of books on astronomy actually. Let me check our databases and see what's still available? You can tell me if you haven't read some of them."
"That'd be great! Thanks miss Gordon."
His smile is so bright, Barbara can't help but smile too.
"So," Steph slides up after Cass and Harper wander off with Danny in tow. They're definitely listening in on their comms too, but none of them know how the new guy's hearing actually is so it's all coded from here on out. "What'cha think? Me and the girls found him lost in the gardens while still looking for the exit. Which y'know, totally fair. I still get lost out there, I think they change the hedge mazes on purpose after you walk in."
To translate, Steph said something along the lines of; 'Have you found anything about him yet? He may have gotten lost, but all the traps out there? He dodged all of them. Or just didn't trip some of them.
"It's been years since I got to walk Bruce's gardens, ever since Dick and I broke up at least. I know he's tried to make them more wheel-chair friendly, but it takes forever to get my chair back to the house. Its impressive he managed to get through there, think he could give Duke tips? I hear he still gets lost."
Translation; No I haven't, I can't find much at all. It's a little strange, especially since he dodged all the traps. He's definitely some kind of meta.
Before their conversation can get any further than that, a figure bursts into the library, chased by police sirens. It's a man. One that makes Barbara's stomach pitch into her stomach.
"OUT!! NOT YOU!!" She wails to no avail.
Condiment King looks utterly bewildered to be yelled at so fiercely, or maybe because he's in a library- and Barbara is more certain than ever he's never bothered to learn to read. He doesn't seem interested in leaving. In fact, the second he seemed to realize that the books could be used to his advantage, he immediately point his stupid ketchup and mustard guns at the nearest shelf.
Somewhere to the side of her, Stephine and Harper scoot a bit closer to Danny. Cassandra disappears somewhere.
This stupid joke of a villain opens his stupid mouth to make Barbara rethink Bruce's no-kill policy and she reaches under her desk-
"Oop-" Everyone freezes as Danny sticks both of his forefingers into the barrels of the dual guns.
"What is this!?"
"Not my smartest plan... Which is saying a lot." Danny paused for a moment, and, just before Condiment king can get out his next statement, he interrypts the both of them with a dramatic; "PICKLE!" It's a pickle! ... No, I can do better, man-"
"Relish this moment! For the Condiment King will not be dill-nied his dues!" He cried. Giving a strong yank to get the guns back, only for Danny to wrap his hands around the nozzles and not give a single inch. A very impressive feat because even if this particular villain was a comedian, not an athlete, was almost twice Danny's weight and had much better leverage.
"Maybe you should just chilli out! You're pesto-ing these nice girls and, look man the bit's not the worst-shi'vre ever seen, but this place doesn't sesa-seem to be your scene. But lettuce end this quickly."
Before anymore a-salts on their ears could happen, the girls watched Danny swing forward, slide between the rogue's legs and give him a swift kick to the butt. Using Condiment King's own gun-tubing to hog-tie him in what only could be described as a 'cartoon logic bing-banging and a dust cloud' manner. He'd even gotten on tube inside Condiment King's mouth, and was sitting on the rogue's back- awkwardly perched since both guns are still in his hands, but no less smug about the take down.
Stephine and Harper both jogged over, with Stephie keeping her phone out, still recording and snapping picture with Danny.
Cassandra, who had rematerialized at some point, signed to Barbara; Scrappy. Formal training, but center of balance off. Trained by woman? Learned from doing mostly. Then goes to join the other two to check on their new brother.
Interesting...
Barbara watches as Danny, instead of standing up, gets stopped short by the fact that his fingers are actually stuck in the gun nozzles. One last photo gets snapped of him face planting, then pouting at Stephine making a peace sign at the camera before attempting to help him.
"THIS IS THE POLICE! COME OUT WITH YOUR HANDS UP!" This by-the-book bullhorn gets everyone's attention, and Barbara sighs in relief hearing her dad's voice. He must've been already close by if he came out to handle such a c-tier rogue even before realizing how close they were to Barbara's place of work.
Shaking her head at their girls still trying to free Danny, she manages to get Harper at least to; "Let the police in and take this lunatic away from my books!"
-
"You aren't uh, uploading that anywhere are you?"
All the officers, save her father, were doing last minute clean ups. The commissioner himself had been taking the statements of everyone involved- outside thankfully. Letting Barbara have her alone time to upload all the information they'd observed into the database to keep searching for more leads on Danny. But she was still half-listening through the comms in case he said something else of note.
"Like, to the internet? Nah. Condiment King might not be a full rogue- there's a whole story about mind control and we keep having to knock hi out of it cause nobody knows the pass phrase to fully get rid of it. Anyway, even with guys like him, it's a bad idea to let people think anybody but the Bats got the guy." Stephine cheerfully tells him.
"She's right, unfortunately." Her dad sighed. "Too much of a risk to the civilians if Rogues decide they want to make a statement and can blame someone easier to get to than a Bat. The reporters will print that Signal helped take him down, since it's the middle of the day."
"Cool, coolcool. Just checking.... You guys sure have a lot of vigilantes." He does sound genuinely relieved, and he's too eager to change the subject.
"You don't know the half of it." Dad sighs, then says his goodbyes as the girls help usher him back inside.
"Sorry about that Miss Gordon. I didn't mean to cause a scene or anything." Danny says, as soon as he slinks his way back to the front desk. Why is he apologizing?
"No, thank you Danny. Really! I'm just glad my books are alright." Who are you? Barbara wonders. Who, or what, are you running from? Why didn't Bruce say anything- it must be pretty bad if he's keeping secrets from all of them like this. Again. "I'm more worried about you though. You should be more careful, what if you'd gotten hurt? Are your fingers alright? You didn't break anything?"
"Nah." He holds up both of them and wiggles them for show. "See? No need to worry about me."
The rest of the conversation remains light hearted. Eventually he goes back to looking for the books they talked about before that whole debacle. Except, even then, he doesn't actually check anything out. Takes a couple of pictures of the astronomy books' content with a phone that looks like it needs a senior citizen discount, but nothing else. Like he's not expecting to stay long enough to be able to return them.
That, perhaps more than anything, breaks Barbara's heart the most.
What I’d give for one of the Cinderella remakes to go into how when you’re in an isolated and abusive situation, sometimes you need to be saved and you’re not weak if you can’t escape by yourself
I’ve never been a fan of bad faith reinterpretations of fairy tales, especially ones which flatten the originals into “princesses is saved by a prince and nothing else”, to then go #girlboss. The princess can save herself because she’s a strong female character! (Implying if you’re in a bad situation, it’s because you’re not strong enough to get out)
Also the concept of the Prince over the course of like… a couple hours hanging out with Cinderella going from ‘Haha nice I really like you’ to 'oh fuck i can tell from context clues alone that your home situation is FUCKED UP’ it’s good shit 'I have just met you but ON GOD I’m gonna get you out of there beautiful mystery woman’ cinderella makes desperately yelling into the night 'how can I find you again!??!’ when she’s taking off that much more poignant really
This! Both Cinderella and Snow White are living in abusive situations.
Cinderella lives as an indentured servant in her own house from a young age. It isn't a stretch to say she was probably threatened with being thrown out of her home multiple times growing up. She was terrified of her stepmother, and her stepsisters were allowed to treat her like shit. Yet, she still had the strength to advocate for her right to go to the ball, even after Lady Tremaine had already told her she wasn't allowed. And when she was finally given the opportunity to leave that life behind, she fought for it with her friends' help and took it. Through it all, she remained kind. She was really strong!
Snow White's stepmother literally sends someone to kill her, and when that doesn't work, she tries to do it herself. We know from the start of the movie, where Snow White is in a ragged dress cleaning the stairs, that she wasn't being properly treated as a princess either. It's only when the hunter takes her out under the pretense of looking for wildflowers that she gets her signature dress, which implies that not only was she being mistreated at home, but that the Queen hid this treatment from the public eye. After Snow White has to run into the forest, she is able to swap her skills for shelter, which allows her to survive! She is resourceful and resilient.
Both of their stories are often reduced to their bare bones for the disingenuous message op mentioned, but they were both incredibly strong girls that remained kind, and hopeful for a better future despite their difficult situations. They did the best with the resources they had available, and expecting them to save themself from their own situations it’s extremely ignorant to how abusive situations work. Their stories are meant to be hopeful.
A part of Batman's character that I don't see much discussion or debate is how he was the first human without powers in the Justice League. This means he established the rules of safety, combat, and equipment for the others through experience. Tim: I know you feed on emotions. You're an ecto-being, known as Phantom, and you're hiding in Gotham from the government. Your real name is Daniel Fenton.
Danny defeated: Who are you working for? How did they find me?
Tim: Don't worry about that. I'm the only one who knows. Listen, I need your emotional eating abilities. Robin died a few weeks ago, and Batman is losing it. Could you eat his sorrow? Help cut through his fog of grief?
Danny: I- ugh I never tried that?
Tim: Well, now is a good chance to try. Pack your bags, you're moving into Drake Manor as my uncle, and we're going to save Batman.
Danny: Okay?
Tim: You seemed confused. Do I need to explain the plan again?
Danny: I'm not confused. I didn't expect this when I opened the door to a seven-year-old.
Tim: I'm thirteen.
Danny: I'm so sorry. Are you not being feed?
Tim: Everyone blooms at their own time!
Danny: Sure, buddy.
Tim: You-! You will actually do really well at posing as an annoying uncle. You're on thin ice, though. So watch it.
Danny: I'll take that threat more seriously when you can reach my chin.

Or: From what I've seen, Oracle is carrying a crazy amount of work, and I think she deserves a little helper.
Danny is trying to lay low in the DCU. Then he gets kidnapped for his own summoning, along with a bunch of other people, and volunteers himself as a sacrifice to avoid anyone actually dying. His bad luck means the summoning was legit. He doesn’t really transform, but his eyes glow bright green, his hair has white glowing spots, and there is a spark around him. That's when people he has by now identified as this universe’s heroes/vigilantes finally arrive.
Now, Danny really doesn’t want to deal with questions in either form, but he is also basically homeless. So he figures out a way to maybe fall under these heroes’/vigilantes’ jurisdiction for a while without having to answer any questions:
He pretends to have complete amnesia.
Phantom goes back and forth with the heroes/vigilantes for about five sentences before pretending to get bored with them. Then he lets his ghostly traits mostly fade and lets Danny “fall unconscious” to the floor. The heroes/vigilantes are quick to check for injuries and his well-being, and when he “wakes up,” he acts confused and lost. He then proceeds to pretend he doesn’t remember anything other than his name, because he really would prefer to be called that. He is doing a damn good job with his acting, at least if the concerned faces are anything to go by.
Just to add some spice, and to make sure he is not handed over to whatever “looking out for people who have been in rogue attacks” system they have going on, Danny occasionally lets his ghostliness and powers bleed through.
When the heroes/vigilantes wonder why only his name stayed in his memory, they theorize that it's about some fae rules of how he never gave his name to Phantom, and that's something the entity can't take away.
"He volunteered for the sacrifice which counts as giving everything away, and that's why he has no memories."
"Then why can he still remember his name?"
"Because he didn't give his name. That's a while different level of fae consent. It's probably the only thing that saved him."
"Would that extend to the rest of our world? It could explain why there's no documentation proving he exists."
"It's definitely likely. They would have tried to erase all traces of his identity, to tie him further into the fae realm."
If Danny is very new to this universe and hasn't done more than a basic research binge so far, he'll also be genuinely surprised when learning 'common knowledge' things, which will add to the authenticity of his act.
