One of the Marshal's hobbies is mental maths, which implies that he is actually intelligent. One of his phrases also implies that he does not like to feel small, inferior. This led us to think that he might have an inferiority complex. As someone with a smug personality, he likes to show off and emphasize how cool he is, but being a very pretty little squirrel, even with his name relate to "Marshmallow" he probably only gets recognized for that, for being cute. Which would make him very sad, that all his intellect and abilities are eclipsed because he is cute. To the point where he could hate being a squirrel, hate himself for being one.
