Children of the barricades who didn't last the night
i think people are starting to confuse class analysis with bioessentialism. like... no not all men do this, but Men as a constructed social class do do this. that's still okay to say. that is regular material analysis of the world around us.
this is true, but it is not bioessentialist. both cis & trans men WILL see a mouse & eat it. this is because it is in their best interest to eat mice. they benefit from eating mice. this is essential to their class position, not their biological makeup.

I’ve got lots of big thoughts about Éponine, Cosette and 19th century womanhood because they really do fall on the opposite ends of the spectrum here. As a poor girl, Éponine is almost completely desexed, she is not seen as a lady but just another member the nameless impoverished. Marius doesn’t really see her as a woman, nor does she really see herself as a woman, at least not the way Cosette is. Therefore she is not afforded the protections of a young bourgeois lady.
Cosette is one the other end where all she is a woman. She is coddled and not allowed to make her own decisions, this critically comes to a head at the end of the novel when Marius and Valjean conspire to keep the secrets of Valjean’s past from her. Éponine on the other hand is forced to make decisions that she shouldn’t have to as a sixteen year old like “where am I going to sleep tonight?” and “how am I going to get food?” She has a level of freedom that Cosette will never get, much like the male gamins who are free to roam around Paris as they please, but it is a freedom born of desperate circumstances. She can make choices but all her options are bad ones.
unfortunately I fell in love with a bunch of student revolutionaries at the very ripe age of 15 and kinned the cynic so much i took up political science hoping to find the light to my blind man. and then I realized I can't afford to be grantaire

i've been reading through les misérables for the first time, so there's been a lot of character sketching happening as a result!
i know damn well there was a site where each amis had their own tea named after them. SOMEONE please help me find it. God i might be going insane because my dream told me enjolras' had gunpowder on his
I’m a man of many talents, I can also draw twink manga Enjolras too 😌
I feel like a lot of people get "All Art is Political" confused with "All Art is made with Political Intentions" which is not the same.
i never talked about it here but i went to see les mis again a few months ago and when enjolras came on stage my jaw was just. dropped. i could not stop staring. the sweet auntie beside me took my hand and said, "i feel the same way!" and we both held each other while staring at the glorious figure that is Enjolras.
we talked a lot during the interlude and i got to infodump about the book. she then said "oh you're really different because most people like Marius" like maam...if you only knew...
anyway. during drink with me, she was crying when she leaned in and told me, "thanks for telling me about them, it's much more meaningful now."
