Mukuro waited patiently for her husband Makoto to come home, pacing around her living room. In her hand was something super important that she had to show him. Eventually the door opened, and Makoto rushed in. Mukuro held her hands behind her back, wanting to surprise him with her announcement.
“I got your message. Are you okay?” He asked worriedly. She’d been feeling under the weather a lot these past few weeks, and he was worried she was getting worse. She smiled shyly and nodded.
“Yeah. I have a surprise for you. Close your eyes and hold your hands out.” She told him. He laughed awkwardly and did as he was told, resisting the urge to open his eyes when he felt something being placed into his hands. “Okay. Open your eyes.” She told him, fiddling with her shirt. She was anxious that he wouldn’t be happy with her surprise for him. He opened his eyes, and in his hand was… a pregnancy test? No, not just a pregnancy test, a positive pregnancy test.
“You’re pregnant?” He asked instantly, looking up at her. She was still fiddling with her shirt, not quite registering how he was feeling.
“Well, I have to confirm it with a doctor, but- Huh?!” She stopped as Makoto picked her up and spun her around, laughing and smiling brightly. He was clearly happy, which was making her happy too.
“I’m gonna be a dad!” He cheered, hugging her tightly. She wrapped her arms around him too, super relieved he was happy. It made her even more happy too.
Mukuro’s pregnancy had been somewhat rough, but now was a big day. The gender reveal scan. Both were pretty nervous, especially Mukuro. Makoto held her hand reassuringly, gently kissing her stomach. Her bump was starting to form, and he sometimes had to remind himself to not just show her baby bump affection. The midwife applied the gel, starting the scan. Both of them watched the screen displaying their future child in a mix of awe and happiness.
“Congratulations. It’s a boy.” The midwife told them, smiling softly. Mukuro looked up at Makoto, realising their smiles matched. They would’ve been happy regardless of the gender so long as their baby was healthy. Makoto kissed Mukuro’s cheek, keeping one eye on the screen the whole time. It was only so long now until their baby was born.
Makoto came home from work one afternoon like normal, expecting Mukuro to be in the living room or something. She was nine months pregnant now, ready to give birth at any moment. He instead found her in the kitchen, holding on to the counter breathing deeply. Her phone had been dropped on the floor, and it looked like she’d been in that position for a while. She looked up when she saw him enter, her breathing deep to try and control the pain she was feeling.
“It’s time… the baby… it’s coming…” she told him between breaths. Makoto’s eyes widened, rushing to help her into the car so he could drive her to the hospital. He’d already put her hospital bag in the car so they wouldn’t have to worry about it now.
The next day, Mukuro was finally ready for visitors after having been kept in for observations. She’d had a healthy baby boy they’d named Aki, who she was currently holding in her arms. Suddenly the door burst open, and Junko and Komaru entered the room followed by Junko’s husband Yasuke Matsuda who was holding their daughter Hoshiko.
“He’s so cute! I’m surprised someone as ugly as you produced such a cute baby.” Junko said to Mukuro, sitting on the end of the bed and almost on Mukuro’s feet. She frowned, holding baby Aki a little tighter before Junko burst out laughing. “I’m kidding!” Mukuro knew she wasn’t, but kept quiet. “Come on. Let Auntie Junko have a hold.” She almost demanded, holding her arms out. Mukuro was hesitant, having basically refused to let anyone else hold him. She’d only let Makoto hold him once so she could sleep and not worry about crushing him. “Awh come on, don’t be like that. I’ll let you hold Hoshiko.” Junko pouted, folding her arms. Mukuro sighed, gently kissing her baby’s forehead before passing him over to Junko for a hold. Yasuke placed Hoshiko in her arms, watching silently as his wife held her new nephew.
“It’s okay, Muku.” Makoto assured her softly, stroking her freckled cheek. He knew how protective of her little one she was, and he wanted to make sure she was happy and calm. Komaru was pouting that Junko had been allowed to hold her first, but that quickly faded when she sat next to Junko and played with Aki a little. Yasuke was standing by the window, not speaking. Junko and Komaru continued to fuss over Aki, under the watchful eye of Mukuro. Makoto just sat next to her, kissing her cheek. He was hopeful for the future, and now so was Mukuro.
