Apparently I have to do this myself! We need more Southern! Hazel Levesque stuff. My girl grew up in New Orleans.

She probably speaks at least a little bit of French. You don’t grow up in Louisiana without knowing how to pronounce stuff like Breaux Bridge or Natchitoches (A whole arena of high schoolers and native Louisianaians once corrected a out of state speaker on the pronunciation of Natchitoches)

She most definitely enjoys spicy food not only because she’s black but because apparently Southern food tends to be spicier than Northern food.

She celebrates Mardi Gras. Doesn’t matter if she’s Catholic or not. She grew up in New Orleans the most well known city for Mardi Gras. She probably had a collection of Mardi Gras beads. Maybe after returning to the mortal world she goes back to New Orleans to see how much Mardi Gras has changed

All of the seven have tried King Cake by Hazel’s hand. One of them was in fact forced to buy/hand make the next King Cake because they found the baby.

Hazel has also made them all try crawfish (like freshly bought and boiled crawfish with the potatoes and corn) (Jason almost cried cause of how spicy it was to him) and Boudin.

She cooks like an old Southern grandmother. With her heart. No measurements but it always turns out amazing. Tony Chachere’s and Slap Ya Mama and other Cajun spices are frequent fliers in her meals.

When she feels homesick she makes gumbo. Usually chicken and sausage cause it’s the easiest to get ingredients for.
