I never liked him, not even when he was just some guy with a big ugly building and a book deal.
At most, there was one policy in his first term that I agreed with. And I remember feeling shocked that there was ever anything I would agree with Trump on. I distinctly remember joking ‘wait he can do something good? I didn’t know he could do that’ but at the same time there were several other policies he was making that I absolutely hated

Y'all - the Catholic Church is not only a conservative institution, it is a strong contender for the most conservative institution in the world. I don't say that (here) in a disparaging way, I mean it in a neutral, literal sense. The Church's entire modus operandi is that it seeks to conserve what it believes to be apostolic teaching - disciplines, practices, and prudential judgements vary across place and time, but the teachings themselves never ever change. Hailing the Pope or a bishop as some kind of progressive icon is nonsensical, and is hard for me to see as anything other than a very worrying sign of the reactionary period we're living in.
The President of the United States is to the right of the head of the most conservative institution in the world (the Pope) and instead of viewing that as an extremely worrying sign of the reactionary period we're in, people have decided the Pope and the Church are progressive
I mean, in the grand scheme of things neither the Catholic Church or the Pope are progressive. But compared to previous popes yeah I’d consider the current one progressive. Probably the one before him too but to a lesser extent.
The church is definitely still a conservative organization overall and that will never change. But there’s a difference between conserving things and being stuck in the past and I’m glad that the church seems to be adapting (albeit slowly)
That being said previous is also entirely right, if a country is being more conservative than the church there is serious problems in the world

I was just trying to point out that even in a deeply conservative organization it is still slowly progressing. I just think it’s a good sign that even the most conservative organizations will eventually learn to accept us. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not waiting around for them. Just pointing out that it is inevitable. 
But your comment about Trump and Bush brings up a depressing point. What does it say that the US’s current leader is less progressive than the leader from roughly 2 decades ago. Especially since that former leader wasn’t progressive in the first place. Kind of sucks that we’re moving backwards there

I never thought I would be siding with the pope’s involvement in politics and cheering him on. I will say that.
Look, I was raised catholic
My personal values and beliefs may not entirely line up with the church anymore (⚧️🏳️⚧️ and other things)
But I’ve generally liked the last two Popes
So with voting do you cum when a person get bitten into or when a person is swallowed or does it depend on the moment
