Raya and the Princesses (Part 1)
Hey, everybody. It's been a while since I posted my last post. So I've decided to return and work on something awesome. When Raya and Sisu arrive at the Princess Room, the Princesses look up in surprise and claim that Raya is the official princess. As Raya and Sisu join the princess sleepover, they told Vanellope and the Princesses their story of their movie. Inspired by Jimbodeek and DipperBronyPines98. Enjoy. Please make sure to like.

(The Princesses go about their normal activities while they wait for their next quiz show when Raya and Sisu enter the room. Upon noticing them, all the Princesses look up in surprise.)
Rapunzel: Oh. (chuckles awkwardly) Hello. We didn't hear you come in.
Sisu: Yeah, we kind of let ourselves in.
Merida: I see. And who might you two be?
Raya: I'm Raya, daughter of Chief Benja of Heart, and that's Sisudatu, the Last Dragon. We're the stars of the new Disney movie Raya and the Last Dragon.
Sisu: Hey, everyone. It's my pleasure to meet you all.
Elsa: It's my pleasure to meet you too, Miss Sisudatu.
Sisu: Please, just Sisu. Sisudatu is a bit too formal.
Mulan: Hmm. (looks at Raya) So you're the one from the new movie that came out, right?
Moana: And since you're the daughter of the chief, that means you're a princess, right?
Raya: You could say that.
Pocahontas: Hmm. Well then, tell us, Raya. What kind of princess are you?
Rapunzel: (brandishes a lock of her hair) Do you have magic hair?
Elsa: (demonstrates her powers) Magic hands?
Raya: No, but I do guard the enchanted gem. (holds up Sisu's Dragon Gem for the Princesses to see)
Cinderella: (holds up her mice and birds while Pocahontas and Jasmine snuggle up with their respective animal friends) Do animals talk to you?
Raya: Does a walking, talking, shapeshifting water dragon count as an animal?
Snow White: (holds a poisoned apple) Were you poisoned?
Raya: (holds her hands up and shakes them) Oh, no!
Tiana and Aurora: Cursed?
Raya: Does being turned to stone count?
Belle and Rapunzel: Kidnapped and enslaved?
Raya: Would being captured by a tribe count?
Ariel: (scoots close to Raya) Then I have to assume you made a deal with an underwater sea witch, where she took your voice in exchange for a pair of human legs? (lifts her left leg up and wiggles her toes)
Raya: No! Goodness gracious! Who would do that?
Snow White: (in a singing voice) Have you ever had true love's kiss?
Raya: No, I don't have a love interest.
Jasmine: Do you have daddy issues?
Raya: I don't even have a mother.
Snow White, Cinderella, Ariel, Belle, Jasmine, Pocahontas, Elsa and Anna: Neither do we!
(Rapunzel comes forward, goes close to Raya and asks the million dollar question.)
Rapunzel: And now for the million dollar question. Do people assume all your problems got solved because a big strong man showed up?
Raya: Yes! Tong of the Spine Tribe, even Boun who is technically a young boy but he helped save the day too, like a big strong man.
Princesses: She's a princess!
(Snow White sings in a high note.)
Moana: You know, you seem so cool, Raya. Would you and Sisu like to stay for the sleepover?
Raya: Really? Wow, I would like that very much, girls.
Sisu: Yeah, you girls are awesome.
Cinderella: Great! Now, just give us a moment while we slip into something a bit more comfortable and we'll be right with you.
(Cue Batman-style transition, but with Disney Castle instead of Bat Emblem. After the Batman reference, the scene cuts to the Princesses who all wear casual clothes and Vanellope comes in as well. Raya and Sisu are fascinated by their cool casual clothes.)
Sisu: Whoa! Love the new looks, girls.
Anna: You really think so?
Raya: Yeah, they look awesome. Where'd you find clothes like that?
Cinderella: Oh, I had my mice make them during Vanellope's visit here.
Vanellope: Yep, that's right.
Raya: Oh, I see. So, how did you end up in here this time, Vanellope?
Vanellope: Well, it all started when I was helping to promote my best friend, Wreck-It Ralph. He was making silly videos for the Internet and I was helping to promote his videos around the Internet.
Sisu: That's very cool. And where was your first stop?
Vanellope: My first stop was here, Oh My Disney. It had everything Disney, especially the Princesses here. As I went around advertising Ralph's videos, I ran into the Star Wars Stormtroopers. Apparently, they're very strict about unauthorized click baits and chased me. I eventually ended up in the area where the Characters go on breaks and the Princess Room was the closest.
Raya: And I'm guessing that's the room you possibly escaped into before the Stormtroopers could find you?
Vanellope: Yes indeed. I glitched through the door and I escaped.
Sisu: And I'm guessing this is the part where you meet the Princesses?
Vanellope: Oh, yes. I appeared right in front of their eyes and were taken surprise.
Belle: At first when she said hi, we mistook her as a threat and we grabbed our respective weapons, readying to attack her.
Anna: But she stopped us from attacking, claiming she was too a Princess.
Raya: How'd you react to that?
Pocahontas: We were both surprised and intrigued by her claim and questioned her to see what kind of Princess she was.
Sisu: And I'm guessing that you asked her the same questions as Raya?
Rapunzel: Yes, we sure did. Everything we asked Raya, we asked Vanellope.
Vanellope: While I answered "no" to most of the questions save for Rapunzel's "million-dollar question", they told me that I was a Princess as much as they said.
Elsa: And those answers were enough for us to confirm that she was indeed a princess, just like us... and you, Raya.
Cinderella: And so, after we had finished questioning them, we took great interest in Vanellope's casual clothes.
Sisu: Oh, yes. I see. So what happened then?
Tiana: We all started wishing that we had outfits like Vanellope's, and so Cinderella had her mice make these outfits we're wearing.
Raya: Hmm. So how do you like those casual clothes?
Moana: Like them? We love them!
Belle: They're so comfortable!
Anna: And they allow for a lot more freedom than our gowns and dresses do.
Ariel: In fact, I loved mine so much that I nearly broke into song about it.
Sisu: Song? Wait, you mean you girls can sing?
Jasmine: Uh, yes. Most of us like to sing about whatever our dreams are.
Vanellope: And that kinda got me confused, especially with the background music and the spotlight, and what-not, especially since I had never sung before.
Snow White: At least, Vanellope didn't sing until Rapunzel suggested that she try it.
Raya: And how'd that work out for you, Vanellope?
Vanellope: Not quite so good Raya. My tone was a bit off and pitchy, and it was actually a bit too much for the Princesses' standards. They cringed and were speechless by my singing and even Pocahontas' raccoon Meeko shrieked like a cat.
Mulan: After she was done, Belle asked Vanellope if the song about a steering wheel she mentioned is a metaphor. She said she just wants a steering wheel and believes maybe she was a lil pitchy. We started to give her advice how to find her song that starts with me. I told her sometimes your song can't start till you go someplace to reflect.
Pocahontas: What works for some of us, is finding a pool of water, and staring at it.
Sisu: Ooh, interesting. Raya and I would sometimes stare at water wondering about how we would unite the five tribes that once lived together but were divided by the evil Drunn.
Raya: Yup, you're right about that Sisu.
Snow White: Ooh. That's cool. We even told Vanellope the different pools of water we like to stare at. For me, I like to stare at a wishing well.
Moana: I stare at the ocean.
Cinderella: Soap bubbles.
Vanellope: That's when I realized that if I stare at important water, I'll magically start singing about my dream. I told the Princesses it probably won't cut out for me but thanked them for the advice.
Sisu: Wow! That's so cool!
Vanellope: It sure is, Sisu. Then my conversation with the Princesses was cut short when C-3PO came in to tell the Princesses they're up for another quiz show and their break was over.
Aurora: Yeah, it was time for us to get back to our gowns and we bid Vanellope a farewell and it was lovely to meet her.
Belle: I even wished Vanellope the best of luck of finding her song.
Merida: I wished Vanellope farewell in my Scottish Accent which she couldn't understand but accepted it. It goes like this, "Arr! Lang may yer lum reek, and may a moose ne'er leave your girnal with a tear drop in his eye! Haste ye back, me lassies!" In proper English it's, "I wish you with prosperity and plenty, may your chimney smoke, come back soon girl!"
Raya: Wow. That accent sure is a little hard to understand but pretty cool.
Vanellope: Yup. I even asked Tiana about Merida's line and she doesn't know, which Moana relates that they all can't all understand her, and Anna told us that's she from Pixar, the other studio that's part of Disney.
Sisu: Hm, well that's interesting.
Rapunzel: Right? Anyway, while Vanellope left, she often came back who visit us here, sharing with us a story of her own adventure.
Raya: Ah... Well, I'm glad that you were able to make friends with Vanellope.
Anna: Same here. And you know, we'd be glad to have a set of comfy clothes made for you, Raya.
Cinderella: Of course! You're a princess just like us, and so it's only fair that you get your own set.
Elsa: (chuckles) It's no problem, Raya.
Belle: And speaking of stories, would you and Raya like to share your story with us?
Sisu: Oh, sure! That'd be amazing!
Aurora: All right, so tell us, Raya, Sisu, what's your story?
Raya: Okay, so our story begins 500 years ago where the land of Kumandra was attacked by a group of evil spirits called the Druun.
Sisu: The Druun had the power to petrify the land's people and dragons into stone. As the last dragon, I concentrated my magic into a gem and banished the Druun, reviving Kumandra's people but not the dragons.
Moana: Whoa! That's almost like how my home island of Motunui was affected only without my people being turned to stone. We were forbidden from voyaging and our natural resources were dying.
Raya: Pretty much like that, Moana. Anyways, with Sisu's magic in the gem, A power struggle for the orb divides Kumandra's people into tribes, based on their placement along a giant, dragon-shaped river. The names were, Fang, Heart, Spine, Talon, and Tail.
Cinderella: Wow! Five tribes, all of which hungry for the orb with Sisu's magic in it. That's so power hungry.
Raya: As power hungry as it is. 500 years later, I was set to become a guardian of the gem and my father, Chief Benja of the Heart Tribe trained me to become one. Firmly believing that the tribes can be united once again, Chief Benja decided to hold a feast for the leadership of all five tribes.
Sisu: During the feast, Raya befriended the daughter of Chief Virana of the Fang Tribe, Namaari, who gave Raya a dragon pendant as a gift. Trusting her, Raya showed Namaari the location of the gem but Namaari, betraying Raya, revealed that she was trying to help Fang steal it.
Merida: Yikes! Never trust someone unless you know their true colors.
Raya: I know, right? With Namaari's betrayal, the entire Fang Tribe as well as the others came to steal the gem only for it to break, the tribes stealing a piece of the gem, and my father was wounded in the scuffle!
Princesses and Vanellope: Oh, no!
Sisu: Oh, yes. And with the gem destroyed, the Druun was reawakened and ravaged Heart and its people. Raya tried to escape with her father but he was too wounded and sacrificed himself by throwing her into the river since the Druun was weak against water and was turned to stone.
Vanellope: Wow! That really was a huge sacrifice your father did to protect you, Raya and carry on to find the gem pieces.
Raya: Yeah, he gave his life so I could live and find a way to make things right again. And with his sword and the last gem piece in hand, I set off to find Sisu at the end of the river.
Raya: According to a scroll that Namaari gave me, Sisu fell dormant after defeating the Druun. And her sleeping form drifted to the end of one of the rivers throughout the land.
Aurora: That sounds a lot like what happened to me when I touched that cursed spindle.
Sisu: Yeah, pretty much. Anyway, the story never said which river I ended up in, and so Raya had to travel through every land to find me.
Raya: I spent six years searching for that river. And almost every time, I didn't find Sisu. But that changed when I reached the end of the last river in Tail, which was hidden beneath an old shipwreck.
Ariel: Really? What happened?
Sisu: Raya found me and woke me up, hoping that I could use my dragon magic to defeat the Druun again.
Elsa: And what did you do?
Raya: Well, she told me that she wasn't exactly the best dragon around, as the gem that she used was actually made by her siblings.
Sisu: Yeah, I have four of them. Two sisters, Amba and Pranee, and two brothers, Jagan and Pengu.
Raya: And each of the magic that Sisu's siblings have give her special abilities. For example, when we got the second piece of the gem, she had the ability to transform into a human.
Ariel: Wow! That's wonderful! A dragon that can turn human! Its like me turning human and mermaid since I am a mermaid.
Sisu: That's so cool Ariel. I would love to see your underwater world one day!
Ariel: Sure Sisu. The kingdom of Atlantica will welcome you with open arms, even by my father, King Trition.
Sisu: I appreciate that very much. Anyway, after discovering my human transformation by Pranee's magic, Namaari and her tribe arrived but we managed to escape to a boat called the Shrimporium which is a restaurant on the water. It's proprietor was a 10 year old boy named Boun who cooks very good food. He lost his family to the Druun and rarely leaves his boat to remain safe from the plague.
Raya: The food he served to us was Congee with shrimp, chopped spring onions, and crispy onions.
Mulan: Ooh. In my movie, I had congee too. But it didn't have shrimp, chopped onions or crispy onions. It has two fried quail eggs and a piece of bacon, and its smiling.
Sisu: Ooh. That Congee sounds delicious.
Mulan: Well in that case, would you and Raya like to try some?
Raya: Sure Mulan. We'd like to try your style of Congee.
Sisu: Yes please. I would love to.
Mulan: Okay. Just give me a few moments to make it. Congee takes a while to be formed into porridge.
Raya: Oh we don't mind. We'll keep telling the princesses and Vanellope about our story while you cook.
Rapunzel: And we're okay with our snacks for now, Mulan. You can just make some for Raya and Sisu since we tried yours before.
Mulan: Okay, Rapunzel. I'll be right back.
(Mulan heads to the kitchen to cook up the congee, getting the rice, water, quail eggs, and bacon out, readying for the cooking process. While that goes on, Raya and Sisu continue chatting with the Princesses and Vanellope.)
Raya: After we arrived on the shrimporium, I was able to convince Boun to get us over to the village of Talon to find the other gem. After we left Tail, Boun served us the congee but I was skeptical about it since back then, I didn't trust anyone incase of trickery.
Sisu: Yeah, she was worried it was poisoned but I reassured her that there's nothing to worry about.
Pocahontas: I understand what you're going through Raya. Sometimes trust can take awhile to earn, and with what's been going, trust is almost impossible to earn.
Raya: Yeah, and I even tried hiding Sisu from Boun too so he could see her in her dragon form so I told Sisu to stay in the her human form. Pretty soon, we arrived at the Talon Tribe, who have built their homes over the water to protect themselves against the Druun. As I set out to find the leader of Talon, I encountered a con baby named Little Noi and her trio of monkey-like companions the Ongis, who adopted her after her mother was lost to the Druun. After a chase through the village, I decided to hire them to help me.
Moana: Wow. A con baby? That's something new.
Sisu: Yes it was, and while Raya was doing that, I went into to town to find a gift, as I think it is better than fighting, only to run into the real tribe leader who threatened me. Luckily, Raya came to the rescue and got the third gem piece from the leader, allowing me to spew fog, and make it back to Boun with Noi and the Ongis joining us. Soon, we were on our way to the Spine Tribe.
(Mulan comes in with two bowls of fresh smiley face congee.)
Mulan: Who's hungry for smiley face congee?
(Mulan passes the the bowls to Raya and Sisu and they both take a bite of the congee, one of the eggs, and the smiling bacon.)
Mulan: So, Raya, Sisu, whatcha think of the smiley face congee?
Sisu: Yeah, it's delicious!
Mulan: Well, I'm glad you like it. So... what happened next?
Raya: Well, after leaving Talon, we set off on Boun's boat for Spine so we could get their gem fragment.
Jasmine: And how'd that turn out?
Sisu: We tried to enter the village, but we ended up getting caught by Tong.
Raya: This huge, fearsome warrior who lived in the village.
Pocahontas: What did he do to you when he caught you?
Sisu: Actually, he didn't do anything to us.
Raya: He didn't know what to do with us when he found us, and just kept us in his little house until Boun, Noi, and Tuk Tuk broke in to rescue us.
Sisu: Raya's pet. One-third pill bug, one-third armadillo, and one-third pug. He often helped Raya get around by curling into a ball and rolling.
Raya: Helped me out of a lot of trouble, though he would get distracted sometimes.
Elsa: Ah. So what happened after they came in?
Sisu: When Boun untied us, he told us that Namaari and her soldiers had shown up looking for me while attempting to call for the people of Spine to hand Raya over to Fang. But there was just one problem.
Raya: There was no one else living in the village save for Tong.
Jasmine: Why? What happened?
Sisu: Tong's people attempted to fight the Druun themselves, and it didn't end well for them. Tong was the only one who survived.
Snow White: Oh, that's terrible.
Raya: Yeah. Anyway, since Namaari was there for me, I decided to go confront Namaari while Sisu, Boun, Noi, Tuk Tuk, and Tong escaped with the gem pieces.
Rapunzel: And how did that go?
Sisu: Raya and Namaari got into a fight at the village entrance. And Raya would have been defeated if I hadn't reverted to my dragon form and started spewing fog everywhere to scare all of Namaari's soldiers away.
Merida: I'll bet Namaari was surprised by your appearance Sisu Lass.
Sisu: Indeed she was Merida, and we managed to get on the boat heading for the Fang Tribe. Raya finally comes clean to her party about me and we agree to work together with Tong giving the gem piece he had been guarding and allowing me to gain the ability to summon the rains by my big brother Pengu's magic.
Vanellope: Wow! That's so cool summoning the rain!
Raya: Yeah, it really is. Anyways, we got close to the Fang Tribe and suggested breaking into the compound to reclaim the final gem piece, but Sisu suggests giving them a gift and asking it back. I still refused until Sisu took me back to see what was left of the Heart Tribe and revealed the fate of her siblings.
Sisu: Yes. I told her I didn't create the gem and that my siblings made it with their magic, and trusted me enough to do the right thing with it. With that, Raya agreed to give in and gave Namaari the dragon pendant as a piece offering so that she can rejoin the rest of the gem pieces.
Raya: We met up with Namaari privately and showed her the gem pieces, but right as I did, she wielded a crossbow and pointed it at us!
Sisu: Yes way. And I tried to talk her down, but Raya attacked her since she sensed that she'll shoot me and I ended up getting hit by the arrow and fell into the river!
Princesses and Vanellope: Oh, no!
Raya: Oh yeah, right in front of my eyes and the water protecting the Fang Tribe from Druun started to recede. Without Sisu as the Water Dragon, the water can't flow through the river anymore, especially towards the other tribes!
Rapunzel: And I'm guessing the Druun started attacking the Fang Tribe?
Sisu: Yes, and Boun, Noi, the Ongis and Tong helped the tribe escape as Druun swept through the compound. But Raya, so enraged by my death, decided to confront Namaari and fight her as revenge.
Belle: And what happened then?
Raya: Namaari and I had one last fight in the throne room while Tong, Boun, Noi, and the Ongis tried to get the people out of the compound. I got the upper hand in the fight, but I didn't strike Namaari down.
Sisu: Namaari didn't care anymore whether she lived or died then, as she was in grief after her mother, Chief Virana, was lost along with kingdom. Plus, she helped Raya to see that she was just as guilty for what happened to me.
Raya: And with that in mind, I went to help my friends, and Namaari came to help by giving me her gem piece. But without Sisu there, the magic in the gem pieces started to fade as we fell into a pit full of Druun.
Snow White: And what happened when you and your friends fell down there?
Sisu: In the pit, Raya told the others that they needed to put the gem pieces together. They refused, but Raya, now being fully trusting of Namaari, performed the ultimate act of trust right then and there.
Raya: I set down my piece and let myself be claimed by the Druun.
Princesses and Vanellope: You let yourself be claimed by the Druun?
Anna: You know, that sounds a lot like what happened to me when I went to save my sister.
Raya: Ah, I see. Anyway, my friends were moved by what I had done, and they did the same, as they then put their trust in Namaari to reassemble the gem before she was claimed by the Druun too. And by some stroke of luck, my act of trust ended up revitalizing the gem, which sent out a huge wave of dragon magic that not only vanquished the Druun, but also brought all of us back to life. It even brought back the dragons, who used their magic to restore Sisu.
Sisu: And I was more than happy to see my family alive, as I thanked Raya for being able to trust other people again. But that's not where the story ends.
Raya: No. With the Druun gone, we returned home to our respective lands, with Tong returning to meet his village, Noi meeting her mother again, and Boun reuniting with his family. And I was able to see my father again after six years.
Sisu: And with that, all of the tribes were able to come together peacefully so we could celebrate our victory over the Druun and the return of the dragons to the land of Kumandra.
Elsa: Well, that's a great way to end the story. But you know, not all of us were so fortunate as to get our family back like you did.
Belle: Yes, it's true. While you and Sisu were able to get your family back, most of us here haven't.
Snow White: Like me for example. I lost my parents before I met the Seven Dwarfs and I was look after by an evil stepmother who was a queen.
Cinderella: I lost my mother when I was a child and my father died from the illness.
Ariel: My mother died after a pirate ship crushed her before I met Prince Eric.
Belle: My mother passed long time before I met the beast.
Jasmime: My mother recently passed away before I met Aladdin.
Pocahontas: My father was the only one to parent me since my mother passed years before I met John Smith.
Tiana: My father died during World War 1.
Elsa: Anna and I lost our mother and father who were King and Queen of Arendelle after their ship was caught in a fierce storm.
Moana: My grandmother died from the illness as of result of the curse on Motunui.
Raya: Aww. We are so sorry for your losses, ladies.
(Raya walks up to Snow White and gives her a heartwarming hug, then goes to hug Cinderella as Sisu follows suit and hug the ten princesses who lost their family members.)
Cinderella: Thank you very much for your support, Raya and Sisu.
Raya: You're very welcome, Cinderella.
Sisu: Anything for you, Princesses.
(Just then, Cinderella's mice, Jacques and Gus come in with a set of casual clothes for Raya which includes a blue t-shirt with Sisu on it and reads, "Lead The Way" like the song, blue sports shorts, and a pair of red Converse Sneakers.)
Cinderella: (Walks over to Jacques and Gus) Ooh. You guys have made these for Raya?
Jacques and Gus: Oh, yes! Made special for Raya's introduction to the princess lineup.
Cinderella: Thanks, guys. I'm sure Raya would love it. (To Raya) Look what my mice made for you Raya.
Raya: (grabs the clothes and shoes) Wow! These look amazing! I love them!
Sisu: Ooh, yeah. They're awesome!
Rapunzel: Try them on and you'll be comfy like us.
Raya: Oh, yeah! I'm definitely trying these on! Is there somewhere I can change?
Moana: You can change in my quarter. There's the curtains for you to close so you change privately.
Raya: Thanks, Moana. I'll be right back.
(Raya goes into Moana's quarter, closes the curtain and prepares to change. After a few minutes, Raya comes out sporting her casual clothing and twirls in front of the Princesses, Vanellope and Sisu.)
Ariel: You look amazing, Raya!
Princesses, Sisu and Vanellope: Yeah!
Raya: I'm glad you all think that. And wow, you're right, these really comfy!
Cinderella: And they're perfect for not only relaxing, but also for going out when off-duty!
Raya: I'll keep that in mind. (to Vanellope) Thanks for being such an inspiration to these ladies, Vanellope.
Vanellope: Hey, it's no problem.
Raya: (to the princesses) Well, ladies, since Sisu and I have told you about our story, we'd like to hear about your stories and how the Disney Princess Lineup came up to what it is today.
Moana: Sure, Raya. We'd be happy to tell you our stories about ourselves and how we made the Disney Princess Lineup.
Snow White: I'll go first. I'm the first princess in the lineup since my movie came out in 1937.
Sisu: Wow! That's a long time ago, but totally cool!
Snow White: (giggles) Yup. 1937 may be old, but the movie's legacy loves on.
Raya: So, how does your movie go, Snow White?
Snow White: Well, it starts off when I was 14 years old. I was living with my evil stepmother, who happened to be a vain queen. She was worried that I would be even more beautiful than her and forced me to work as a scullery maid while she asked her Magic Mirror daily, "who is the fairest one of all". For years, the mirror always answered that the Queen was, pleasing her.
Sisu: Wow. That's a rough start to a movie.
Snow White: Indeed it was, Sisu, but one day, the Magic Mirror informed the Queen that I'm now "the fairest" in the land; on that same day, I met and fell in love with a handsome prince who overheard my singing.
Raya: Wow! You must have the most beautiful voice ever!
Snow White: (giggles) Oh, thanks for the compliment. But you know, all of us have beautiful voices too which you'll find out later.
Raya: Cool! Anyways, what was the Queen's reaction after the mirror told her that you're now there's fairest one of all?
Snow White: She wasn't happy and ordered her Huntsman to take me into the forest and kill me! And furthermore, return with my heart in a jeweled box as proof of the dead.
Sisu: Did he actually do it?
Snow White: No, he couldn't bring himself to do it, begged me for my forgiveness, and told me to run into the forest and never look back after he revealed the Queen's evil deed.
Snow White: Yes. I ran into the forest, just as he told me to do.
Sisu: But what about bringing your heart back to the Queen as proof?
Snow White: He carved out an animal's heart and put it in the box, which he then gave it to her.
Raya: So in other words, he lied to the Queen about killing you.
Snow White: Yes. And as for me, I continued to run into the forest until I found myself in the midst of many animals whole led me to the Dwarfs' cottage.
Sisu: The Dwarfs' cottage?
Snow White: The home of the Seven Dwarfs, seven stout men who spent their days working in a diamond mine. Their names were Doc, Happy, Dopey, Bashful, Sneezy, Grumpy, and Sleepy.
Raya: And were they there when you found the cottage?
Snow White: No, they weren't home. But the place was a mess both on the inside and the outside.
Sisu: And so, you decided to do a little housecleaning?
Snow White: Yes, and that, I took a nap on 3 of their beds since they were small. Then, the dwarfs came home, alarmed the cottage was clean and found me in their bedroom. At first, I thought they would attack me, but I calmly introduced myself to the dwarfs and they eventually welcomed me into their home after I offered to clean and cook for them.
Raya: That's very nice. What went on with the Queen while you were taking refuge with the Dwarfs?
Snow White: The Queen was very angry that the Huntsman lied about killing me and I was still alive. She used a potion to disguise herself as an old hag, then create a poison apple that will put whoever eats it into the "Sleeping Death". She learned that the curse can be broken by "love's first kiss," but was certain Snow White will be buried alive before this can happen.
Sisu: My, oh, my. I guess that's why you tend to avoid apples.
Snow White: You're right about that. So in order for her to trick me into eating the apple, she faked heart trouble so I could bring her into the cottage to rest while the Dwarfs were away. That's when she fooled me into biting into the poisoned apple under the pretense that it is a magic apple that grants wishes. After that bite, I feel asleep and the Queen proclaimed that she was now the fairest in the land
Raya: To think an evil queen would go all this way to rid of you because she wanted to be the fairest of the land. Pretty extreme.
Snow White: Yes, it was extreme what the Queen did, but the Dwarfs returned with the animals as the Queen left the cottage and gave chase, trapping her on the cliff. She tried to roll a boulder onto them, but lightning struck the cliff before she can do, causing her to fall off the cliff.
Sisu: Serves that evil Queen for trying to poison you just because she wanted to be fairest of the land.
Snow White: Yes, she deserved it, but it was too soon to celebrate as the Dwarfs discovered I was asleep and thought I was dead. Instead of burying me out of sight in the ground, they instead placed me in a glass coffin trimmed with gold in a clearing in the forest. Together with the woodland creatures, they kept watch over me.
Raya: How long did it last?
Snow White: A whole year, and the prince learned of my eternal sleep and visited my coffin. Saddened by my apparent death, he kissed me, which broke the spell and I awakened!
Raya and Sisu: (surprised) Wow!
Snow White: (giggles) I know, right? The prince's kiss was indeed "love's first kiss" and the Dwarfs and all animals rejoiced as the Prince took me to his castle where we lived happily ever after.
Sisu: Yeah, going from being put to sleep by an apple, to be awakened by a Prince you loved and getting his true love.
Snow White: (chuckles) Yes. It was quite an adventure for me.
Raya: Well, that was a great one so far. (to the Princesses) All right, who's up next?
Cinderella: Oh, that's me. My movie came out in 1950, 13 years after Snow White's movie and I'm the second Princess in the lineup.
Sisu: Wow. 13 years is a long time for another Princess movie to come out, but well worth the effort and work put into it. What's your story, Cinderella?
Cinderella: Well, my story starts in the stately old chateau that I called home. There, I lived a happy life with my father. However, he felt that I would need a mother's guidance, and so he married again. The woman he married, Lady Tremaine, became my stepmother, and she brought her two daughters, Anastasia and Drizella, and their cat, Lucifer, into the family.
Raya: Okay, so how did Lady Tremaine and your stepsisters treat you?
Cinderella: At first it wasn't actually bad, but after my father died, my stepmother revealed her true nature. She cared mostly about what was good for herself and her own daughters.
Cinderella: No. And so as I grew up, they forced me work as a scullery maid in my own home!
Raya: Oh, that must have been tough.
Cinderella: Yes, it was, Raya. But I wasn't alone. I had many animal friends to help me through this, including Jacques and Gus, the mice, as well as some birds and my dog, Bruno. They helped me through it each day and helped me to see that life was still worth living.
Sisu: Well, it always helps to have a friend to trust in hard times.
Cinderella: Yes, I see that now. Anyway, my friends proved to be the biggest help on the day that my whole life changed.
Raya: And what day was that?
Cinderella: A special Royal Ball is to be held at the king's castle since he wanted his son, Prince Charming to find a wife. To do that, he invited all the eligible maidens in the kingdom to the Royal Ball. I felt happy to go there and Lady Tremaine said I can only go if I do all my chores and find a suitable dress to wear.
Sisu: And did you do that?
Cinderella: Yes, after I finished all my chores, I found a dress that belonged to my real mother and I decided to have it refashioned a bit with the help of my animal friends, including my mice. I also completed the design by adding a necklace and sash discarded by Drizella and Anastasia, respectively.
Raya: That's so cool. And what did Lady Tremaine and the stepsisters react to your dress?
Cinderella: My stepsisters were upset about the dress since their accessories were on it and they decide to tear my dress to shreds before leaving!
Raya and Sisu: (gasp in shock) No way!
Cinderella: Yes way, and I ran away to the garden and wept in tears until I met my Fairy Godmother. When she found me, she was able to fix things for me. Using her magic wand, she turn a pumpkin into a carriage, several of my animals into horses, a driver, and a doorman, and even changed my damaged dress into that shimmering blue one I was wearing back when you two arrived.
Raya: That's awesome! Now you'll be able to attend the Royal Ball.
Cinderella: Yes, but the magic won't last forever as it will wear off till midnight and y animal friends would return their normal selves. After that, I made my way to the castle with no difficulty, and it was there that I met my Prince. When he was there, he took an immediately liking to me and we danced the night away. (sighs) It was beautiful... but then midnight came.
Sisu: And I'm guessing you had to run back home before the magic wore off?
Cinderella: Yes, I ran. And as I did, I left one of my glass slippers behind, but I couldn't stop to go back for it, as everyone would see me for who I truly was.
Raya: And did you make it back in time?
Cinderella: I did. And because I left so quickly, no one, my stepmother and stepsisters included, knew it was me. At least, not at first. The next day, my stepmother figured out it was me she decided to lock me in my room. See, the Duke was at my chateau looking for the mystery girl who fit the glass slipper, and my stepmother didn't want him to find out that it was me. Fortunately, my animal friends were able to get the key from her and unlock the door. But my stepmother wasn't done yet. To keep me from revealing myself as the one the Prince was looking for, she tripped the Duke's footman, causing him to drop the slipper and make it shatter on the floor.
Sisu: Oh, now that's just mean!
Cinderella: Yes, it was mean of her. Eventually, I still had the other slipper, which then I gave it to the Duke.
Raya: And let me guess. It fit like a glove?
Cinderella: Precisely. And with that, the Duke confirmed that I was the Prince's mystery girl, and so I was able to marry him and move into the castle afterwards.
Sisu: And that's the beautiful ending for a little charming story such as yours.
Cinderella: (giggles) I'm glad you enjoyed it.
Raya: No problem, Cinderella. (to the Princesses) Now, who's next?
Aurora: Oh, that'll be me. My movie came out in 1959, 9 years after Cinderella's movie and I'm the third Disney Princess in the lineup.
Sisu: All right. So, tell us, Aurora. What's your story?
Aurora: My story begins when I was a little baby that my mother and father, King Stefan and Queen Leah welcomed me into the world. Everyone was invited to present gifts to us and among them were three good fairies named Flora, Fauna, and Merryweather. They blessed me with beauty and song but then, something happened during my blessing.
Aurora: An evil fairy named Maleficent arrived because she was angry and insulted that she wasn't invited. She put a curse on me, proclaiming that I would grow in grace and beauty, but on my sixteenth birthday when the sun sets, I'll prick my finger on a spinning wheel, and then die.
Raya: (gasps) That's horrible!
Aurora: It sure was but the fairies were able to defend me even though their magic wasn't strong enough. Merryweather only weakened the curse with her magic so instead of dying, I would fall into a deep sleep until the curse can only be broken by true love's kiss. My father also ordered all spinning wheels in the kingdom to be destroyed and burned while allowing the fairies to take me to their cottage to live with them.
Sisu: And how long have you lived with the fairies?
Aurora: I lived with them in the forest for the next sixteen years of my life, unaware of my royal lineage and my real name, as the Fairies kept them as a secret from me. They called me Briar Rose to keep my name secret, and they raised me as if I was their own. Unlike Cinderella's stepmother, they were kind and benevolent parental figures in my life. But it was on the day of my sixteenth birthday that things changed.
Aurora: Well, while they were preparing for my celebration and return to their castle, they sent me out into the forest to collect berries, which I did with the help of my own animal friends. It was also out there that I met this friendly young man who I fell in love with because he was so kind to me. Now, I didn't know it then, but this young man was actually my betrothed, Prince Phillip.
Sisu: Betrothed? You don't mean...
Aurora: I do! See, when I was a baby, my parents and Philip's father, Hubert, intended for him and me to marry when we were older so that their kingdoms would be united as one. So while I was making my way through the forest, so too was he.
Raya: And did he now you were the same child when he met you in the forest?
Aurora: No, he did not! And because I didn't know that he was my betrothed, I was quite heartbroken when the fairies told me about my true destiny.
Raya: (Whistles) Talk about a coincidence. You met a nice guy, and as it turns out, he already met you once a long time ago.
Aurora: I know, right? Anyway, after I met Philip, I went back to the cottage, where the Fairies had a big surprise waiting for me.
Aurora: They had prepared a surprise birthday celebration for me and had made a regal gown as a gift for me. More specifically, it was the dress that I was wearing when you two came in.
Raya: Oh, I see. So what happened next?
Aurora: Well, after I returned, they revealed the truth about my destiny and took me back to my family's castle so they could prepare me to meet my parents again after sixteen years. But before I could see them, however, Maleficent appeared to me.
Sisu: You mean she showed up as you were getting ready? But.. how did she find you?
Aurora: After I disappeared, she spent sixteen years searching for me. But she only found me shortly before I went back to the castle.
Aurora: Because her minions were looking for a baby the whole time!
Sisu: (facepalms) Guess good help is hard to find, even for someone like Maleficent.
Aurora: Yes... But while her other minions failed to find me, Diablo succeeded.
Aurora: Maleficent's pet raven. She sent him out to find me, and it wasn't that hard because of what the fairies were doing while preparing for my birthday celebration.
Aurora: They were using their magic to help them make the cake and dress. Plus, Merriweather and Flora were fighting over whether my dress should be pink or blue.
Sisu: So their magic fight led to the bird and Maleficent finding you.
Raya: So what happened when Maleficent appeared?
Aurora: Diablo told the news to Maleficent about my location and also about my love for Prince Phillip who was on his way to my cottage. This allows Maleficent and her goons to capture him, to prevent him from breaking the curse. They kept him hostage inside the castle.
Sisu: And that's when Maleficent lured you into her castle to trick you into touching a spinning wheel which made you fall into a sleep until true love's kiss can break it?
Aurora: That's right, Sisu. After Maleficent tricked me, I fell asleep and the fairies placed me on a bed in the highest tower and cast a powerful spell on everyone in the kingdom, causing them to sleep until the spell on me is broken.
Aurora: Very epic. But that wasn't the end. The fairies were able to free Prince Phillip from Maleficent's clutches by fending off Diablo and turning him into stone.
Raya: Wow! Guess Diablo stood no chance against fairy magic. (chuckles)
Aurora: (giggles) He sure did. That's when Maleficent took the ultimate drastic measure to stop Phillip from breaking my curse, she transformed into a gigantic dragon!
Raya and Sisu: A giant dragon?
Aurora: Yes. Even bigger than Sisu and a dangerous one at that. Fortunately, the Fairies had armed Phillip with the Sword of Truth and the Shield of Virtue, which he used to fight her.
Aurora: Yes, he did. With the fairies' help, he threw the Sword so that it flew right into Maleficent's heart, killing her.
Sisu: Well it serves that witch right for the evil she caused.
Aurora: Yes, Maleficent certainly got what she deserved. Anyway, after she was defeated, Philip made his way into the castle and climbed the stairs to the highest tower.
Raya: And he broke the spell?
Aurora: Yes, he did. And when he kissed me, he not only woke me up, but also woke everyone else in the castle. And afterwards, we went to the ballroom, where I was able to greet my parents after sixteen years. Philip and I also shared a dance there while Flora and Merriweather started fighting over the color of my dress again.
Sisu: And that's another great ending to another great story.
Raya: Agreed. And I'm glad you were able to have a happy ending.
Aurora: Thank you. And I'm glad you enjoyed my story.
Sisu: Sure. (to the Princesses) Okay, so who's next?
Ariel: That would be me. My movie came out in 1989, 30 years after Aurora's and that makes me the fourth Disney Princess in the lineup.
Raya: Ooh. That's even a bigger gap than the one between Snow White and Cinderella's movies.
Aurora: Yes, well, my movie didn't do so well when it was first released. And with that, Disney decided to take a break from Princess movies.
Sisu: Well, thirty years is definitely more than enough time to work on a story. So tell us, Ariel. What's your story?
Ariel: My story starts when I was 16 years old living the underwater kingdom Atlantica, in the Atlantic Ocean. I was quite an adventurer too. Always curious about the world above me. And there was human Prince I was fascinated with when ever I go up to the surface. I also have human artifacts that I like to collect with the help of my best friend Flounder and a seagull named Scuttle.
Raya: Wow! An underwater kingdom? That's absolutely wonderful!
Sisu: (chuckles) Yeah, I know, right, Raya?
Ariel: (giggles) I'm glad you two like it. Maybe one day you two can come down to visit and meet my sisters.
Ariel: Yes, I have six of them. Aquata, Arista, Attina, Adella, Andrina, and Alana. I'm the youngest of seven, and all of us were Princesses and daughters of King Triton, the ruler of both the kingdom and the seas.
Sisu: Wow, seven kids? I can't imagine the stress of having to raise seven kids, let alone just one!
Ariel: Well, we were never really as bad as you'd imagine. But compared to my sisters, you could say I'm the most rebellious.
Ariel: I always ignore my father's warnings about the surface world but I just can't help but explore it. There's just so much up there.
Sisu: I see, but why is your father forbidding you from going up to the surface? Does he hate humans or something?
Ariel: You could say that, but there was a reason why my father despised them. My mother, Queen Athena, was killed by pirates after their ship crushed her and left my father, King Triton, devastated. Ever since then, my father despised humans and wanted all of us to keep safe.
Raya: (holds Ariel's hands as Sisu follows suit) I'm so sorry about your mother, Ariel.
Ariel: It's all right, Raya and Sisu. I appreciate your expressions about how I feel after my mother's death. (Raya and Sisu let go of Ariel's hands)
Raya: Thanks, Ariel. So, continue with your story.
Ariel: You're welcome, Raya, and yes, so even though my father warned me about the dangers of the humans on the surface world, I couldn't bring myself to explore what the human has to offer.
Sisu: While you were on the surface, was there a certain someone you wanted to meet and feel in love with?
Ariel: Yes. His name was Prince Eric. He was celebrating his birthday on a ship until a violent storm came, which wrecked the ship and tossed Eric overboard. So I rescued him and brought him to shore. I wanted to sing to him, but I left just as he regained consciousness to avoid being discovered.
Raya: And what happened after that?
Ariel: Well, after I returned to Atlantica, Flounder and Sebastian tried to keep the encounter a secret from my father. Meanwhile, I couldn't stop thinking about Eric, and everyone, my father included, could clearly tell I was in love. Everything I did made it clear to them - The dreamy look in my eyes, my good mood, it all made them look at me funny.
Sisu: And what about your friends? What'd they do about this whole thing?
Ariel: Well, Sebastian and Flounder tried to any knowledge of the encounter a secret from my father. They knew I'd be in trouble if he knew. And while Flounder was more successful at keeping things quiet, Sebastian, on the other hand, cracked when my father questioned him.
Raya: And let me guess: He was ticked when he found out exactly who you were in love with?
Ariel: Pretty much. When he found out, he not only gave me a very stern talking to, but also destroyed my entire collection of human artifacts.
Sisu: (Wincing) Ooh! Remind me and Raya never to get on your dad's bad side, Ariel.
Ariel: Duly noted. Anyway, I was devastated, and it was at that moment when Flotsam and Jetsam appeared.
Raya and Sisu: Flotsam and Jetsam?
Ariel: These two eels who were the pets of Ursula.
Ariel: A Sea Witch who was the enemy of my father. Flotsam and Jetsam told me that she could help me, and so I followed them to her lair.
Sisu: You trusted an enemy of your father to help you?
Ariel: Actually, I didn't entirely trust her, even when she claimed that she had reformed and used her magic to help people.
Raya: Ah, I see. So how did she help you?
Ariel: Ursula told me that the only way I could be with Eric is if I became human and that she could help me do just that.
Ariel: She told me she could make a potion that would make me a human for three days. In that time, I would have the chance to get Eric to fall in love with me and give me True Love's Kiss, after which I'd remain a human forever. But if I couldn't, I would be a mermaid again and have to serve Ursula for the rest of my life.
Raya: (wincing) Ooh! Getting someone to fall for you in just three days? Sounds tough.
Ariel: Yes, you're right. And it would be even more difficult since I would have to do it without the one thing that Eric remembered me by...
Ariel: My voice, which Ursula asked me to give as payment for her being able to make me human.
Raya and Sisu: (shocked) And you willingly gave it to her?
Ariel: Yes, I did. I even signed a contract with her, making the deal official.
Sisu: Oh... So what happened next?
Ariel: After I signed the contract, she sealed my voice in a nautilus shell and used her magic to turn me into a human. When that happened, however, I soon found that I couldn't breathe underwater anymore, and so my friends had to carry me to the surface so I could breathe.
Raya: And did they make it just in time for you to catch a breath?
Ariel: Yes, and I soon discovered my new human legs. Sebastian was very disappointed that he now let the King down and threatened to go back down. I managed to convince him to help me find Prince Eric since I would still be miserable without finding him. Sebastian agreed to help and I started to use my legs.
Sisu: Was it hard at first?
Ariel: It was a little hard for a mermaid like me to walk but later I got the hang of it. Scuttle told me that if I want to be a human I had to dress like one because while I kept my seashell top, I was naked from the waist down after the transformation.
Vanellope: (sniffs and turns away)
Raya: Vanellope, what's wrong?
Vanellope: The part where Ariel just said she was naked from her waist. That was something I didn't want to hear.
(Raya, Sisu and the Princesses giggle.)
Ariel: Oh, Vanellope, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to say that right in front of you.
Vanellope: Oh, no, it's okay, Ariel. If I had known you were gonna say that, then I would've covered my ears though.
Raya: What did Scuttle do to cover you up?
Ariel: Using an old sailing ship's sail and some rope, he fashioned it to look like a dress. It wasn't the most glamorous of outfits, but it did cover me up more than my seashell top.
Sisu: And how did you find Eric?
Ariel: Actually, he found me. He was walking on the shoreline with his dog Max and Max found me. I climbed on to a rock for safety and Max shown that he was a cool dog and led Eric to me. But he didn't know it was me because I couldn't speak. Regardless, he let me stay in his castle, where his servants bathed and clothed me. And you know that pink dress I was wearing back when you arrived? Well, that was the first human outfit I ever wore, not counting the sail dress.
Raya: That's cool! What happened after that?
Ariel: Well, after I'd been bathed and clothed, Eric invited me to dinner, which was a little bit awkward because of my different beliefs about humans. But it was still enjoyable, as I was able to amuse Eric.
Sisu: A man always appreciates a girl who can make him laugh.
Ariel: Well, yes, that's true. For my second day, he took me on a tour of the kingdom, which I thoroughly enjoyed, and he took me on a romantic boat ride that evening. Of course, during that time, I hadn't gotten him to kiss me, so my friends decided to take action and try to encourage him to do it.
Raya: Don't tell me, they sung about it.
Ariel: Oh, they did. Sebastian, as a conductor, led the swamp animals in singing.
Ariel: It almost it but Ursula's eels, Flotsam and Jetsam overturned our boat.
Raya: (wincing) Ooh! So close to that very big moment.
Sisu: Yeah. But why did those eels do that?
Ariel: Ursula told them to do it, as she was trying to sabotage my attempts to get Eric to fall in love with me so she could use me to take over my father's kingdom. But she knew that overturning the boat wouldn't be enough, and so she decided to "take matters into her own tentacles".
Ariel: She turned herself into a beautiful woman named Vanessa and used my voice to cast a hypnotic enchantment on Eric, making him believe that she was one who saved him from the storm. It also made him forget me and wish to marry her instead!
Sisu: (angrily) Oh, now that's low, even for her!
Ariel: Yes, you're right. Unfortunately, Scuttle found out about her trick when he spied on her getting ready for the wedding and saw her reflection in the mirror, which then led to him flying over to alert me, Sebastian, and Flounder about it.
Raya: And what did you all do then?
Ariel: While Flounder towed me out to the ship on a barrel, Sebastian went to alert my father while Scuttle rallied the other animals together to crash the wedding and stall it.
Sisu: And how'd that work out?
Ariel: Scuttle's disruption caused enough chaos to allow me to get there before Eric married Ursula, and during the commotion, Ursula's nautilus shell broke open, releasing my voice and freeing Eric from the trance he was in. And as a result, my voice ended up returning to me, causing Eric to realize that I was the girl he had been looking for all this time.
Raya: And did you get your True Love's Kiss this time?
Ariel: Well, almost. As he was about to, the sun set for the third time, and I was then turned back into a mermaid.
Sisu: Ooh! That's a bummer!
Raya: Just about to get there.
Ariel: And Ursula then took me back into the ocean, where she was confronted by my father, who demanded that she release me. He even tried to destroy the contract we had signed, but even the trident couldn't destroy it.
Ariel: He signed the contract and became a polyp in her place. Ursula claimed my father's crown and trident and becomes queen of the sea, which angered me to the point of attacking her when the sea witch almost destroyed me. Meanwhile, Eric took the rowboat from the wedding ship and sped off towards my location. He went underwater and attacked Ursula, who then commanded Flotsam and Jetsam to go after him. The witch's eels dragged him back underwater, so she can blast him. To save Eric, Flounder and Sebastian attacked Flotsam and Jetsam.
Raya: And did they stop them?
Ariel: Well, I had to help them which I did by grabbing Ursula's hair causing her to miss Eric and hit Flotsam and Jetsam instead, reducing them to ashes. She was so upset that she lost her companions, she transformed into her gigantic form to end Eric and me once and for all.
Sisu: Yikes! Talk about ultimate form.
Ariel: (chuckles) It's true, but before Ursula can kill me for good, Eric came in and rammed a splintered bowsprit towards the evil witch's abdomen.
Raya: (wincing) Ouch! Painful way for a witch to die but very well deserved.
Ariel: (Giggles) Yup, and Ursula exploded into a scattered mass of organs as Eric made it to shore and passed out on the beach. That's when Ursula's remains sank to the ocean floor, her curse was removed from the merfolk in her garden, as well as King Triton, and peace was once again restored to the ocean now that Triton has regained his crown, his trident, and his kingdom.
Sisu: And what happened after Peace was now restored?
Ariel: My father finally accepted my loved for Eric, transformed me into a human again, this time permanent. Soon, we had our true love's kiss, immediately wedded shortly after, and have bidden farewell to my family as I start a new life in Eric's world.
Raya: Wow. That's a very happy romantic ending Ariel. So beautiful, and the adventure to find your true love is heartwarming.
Ariel: Awww! I appreciate that, Raya.
Raya: You're very welcome, Ariel.
Sisu: (to the Princesses) Okay, who's up next?
Belle: Oh, that's me. My film came out in 1991, two years after Ariel's which makes me the fifth Disney Princess.
Sisu: All right, Belle. How does your story go?
Belle: Okay, so my story begins in a small provincial town in the hidden heart of France. Now, while I wasn't born in that village, I did grow up there.
Raya: And what was it like living in the village?
Belle: It was fairly a quiet place. Nothing exciting really ever happened there, but the place still had some problems.
Sisu: What kind of problems did they have?
Belle: Well, for one, my father and I were considered outcasts. You see, most people thought my father was crazy, as he was always making inventions while I spent my days reading books rather than working.
Raya: So they saw you as the odd ones come out?
Belle: Pretty much. Now, the funny stares from the other people in the village weren't the only attention I was getting at the time.
Belle: No. You see, Gaston, the town's hero and hunter, felt that he was entitled to have me because I was the most beautiful girl in town and he was the most handsome man in town. And so he often tried to woo me so he could marry me. But even as I tried to turn him down, he never gave up, even when he had the attention of some of the other eligible girls in town.
Raya: Sounds like someone was never told no in their life.
Belle: Yes, it sure seemed that way. Now, while most other people were content to spend their days in the village, I wanted so much more. I wanted to a life full of adventure and to have someone who would really understand that I was more than just a pretty face. And the events of one fateful day would set me on a path that would lead me to both.
Sisu: And what day was that?
Belle: My father set off to the fair to show off his latest invention, a steam-powered wood cutter, with our horse Philippe. But on his way there, he got lost, and stumbled across an old castle inhabited by a group of talking household objects and a monstrous Beast.
Belle: Yes. The Beast had the head structure and horns of an American Bison, the arms and body of a bear, the eyebrows of gorilla, the jaws, teeth and mane of a lion, the tusks of a wild boar, and the legs and tail of a wolf.
Sisu: Whoa! That's pretty wicked and cool.
Belle: As cool as the Beast looks, he wasn't very friendly. While the Objects offered him shelter, the Beast, who preferred to keep to himself, captured my father and threw him in the dungeon. I went to rescue him after Philippe had returned.
Raya: And what happened then?
Belle: Well, when I found my father, I offered to take his place, which the Beast accepted. And because I was in the castle, the Objects were quite interested in seeing me and the Beast get together.
Belle: You see, the Beast and the Enchanted Objects weren't always as they were. They all used to be human.
Raya: You mean they were cursed? What happened? Why were they all cursed?
Belle: The Beast used to be a human prince named Prince Adam, but he was very spoiled, selfish, and unkind, and this showed when an elderly beggar woman showed up at his doorstep, offering him a single rose in exchange for shelter from a storm. He tried to turn her away, but she warned him not to be deceived by appearances, for true beauty is found within. That beauty was then revealed when the old woman revealed herself as a powerful Enchantress who punished the prince by turning him into his beastly form.
Sisu: So, this Enchantress conducted some kind of "test of character", and when the Prince failed, she turned him into a beast?
Belle: Pretty much. And when she did cast the spell, she left him with the same rose she'd offered. See, it was an enchanted one, and when she did leave it, she offered the Prince an ultimatum. If he could learn to love another and earn her love in return before the final petal fell, the spell would be broken, and he and the Objects, his servants, would be restored to their human forms. If not, then they'd be doomed to remain as they were for all eternity.
Raya: Sounds like a tall order for someone like him.
Belle: It was, at first. See, that first night I was there, the Objects tried to treat me and the Beast to dinner together, but it didn't work out, especially because he was very belligerent.
Sisu: Though it sounds like the Objects were trying a little bit too hard. I mean, there are some things in life that you can't rush, and this whole "falling-in-love-to-break-the-spell" is something you can't rush.
Belle: (chuckles) Yes, that's true. Now, while I refused, I later came down to explore the castle, and while I did, I came across the West Wing, where the Beast spent most of his time.
Raya: And what did you find up there?
Belle: There was a lot of broken items, including a shredded portrait of him when he was a human, and the enchanted rose. I was gonna take a closer look but...
Sisu: What happened when you wanted to touch the enchanted rose?
Belle: The Beast caught me and angrily shouted at me to get out. I was very frightened and tried to escape.
Raya: Oh, man, that was very scary.
Belle: I know how very scary it was, right? Anyway, I fled the castle on Philippe. But as we ran, we encountered a pack of wolves who wanted to eat us. Luckily for us, the Beast appeared and fought off all the wolves. The fight left him badly injured, however, and so I had to bring him back to the castle to have his wounds treated.
Sisu: And what happened then?
Belle: After I brought him back to the castle, he decided to do something for me as thanks for me saving his life, and so he gave me the castle library as a gift.
Raya: I'm guessing there were a lot of books in that library, right?
Belle: Yep! There were more books in there than I had ever read back in the village! And as we spent more time together, a friendship started to form between me and the Beast, much to the delight of the Objects.
Sisu: I bet they wanted to see you two get together so they could become human again.
Belle: Absolutely, they could become human again when they pictured it. The Beast and I had a wonderful dance that night. You know that yellow dress I was wearing when you two came in? It was beautiful and glittery. Afterwards, I still wasn't as happy as I should've been then. After all, I hadn't seen my father in a while, and was wondering how he was. Fortunately, the Beast had something that would allow me to see him: A Magic Mirror that was his only window on the outside world that could show the user anything they asked for.
Raya: And he gave it to you?
Belle: He did, and I used it to find my father. When I asked it to show him to me, I saw him freezing in the cold snow, struggling to survive.
Sisu: What was he doing out there?
Belle: He was coming back for me. See, when he got back to the village, he tried to rally Gaston and the other villagers to help him rescue me, but they dismissed him. Remember, they thought he was crazy, and this was just more proof to them that he was.
Raya: And because no one would help him, he decided to go and rescue you himself.
Belle: Yes. And as I saw, it turned out to be harder than it looked, especially since Philippe was here with me. But I was able to go and bring him back to our house in the village, where I helped him to recover. And what's more is that I was able to go to him because the Beast let me go after he told me that I'm no longer his prisoner.
Raya and Sisu: The Beast actually let you go?
Belle: Yes, because he loved me, and wanted me to be happy, even at the cost of his curse being lifted.
Raya: Sounds like you really did change him.
Belle: Yes, but while my problems with the Beast were just about over, my problems with Gaston got so much worse when I returned to the village.
Belle: Gaston arrived with a lynch mob led by the head of the local asylum, Monsieur D'Arque. He says that if I don't marry Gaston, he'll lock up my father.
Belle: Very dangerous to be absolute. So, to prove my father's sane, I showed the mob the Beast with the magic mirror, and I furiously confronted Gaston after he mocked me for being in love with a "monster" by saying that he is the real monster. Gaston became very jealous, snapped, and aroused the mob's fear of the Beast, leading them to the castle to kill him. Then, he locked me and my father in our basement.
Sisu: And I thought being locked in with the Drunn at Talon was bad.
Belle: Yes, and after Gaston locked me and my dad in our basement to lead the mob towards the Beast's castle, we found Chip in my luggage, who stowed away in it and he chopped the basement door apart with my father's machine, allowing us to escape.
Raya: Wow! He's the most bravest teacup ever!
Belle: He was indeed and we all rode on Philippe to rush back to the Beast's Castle where the mob had just broken into the castle as the servants battled them. Gaston wandered off by himself to find the Beast which he did and started attacking him.
Sisu: Wow. Talk about serious control and did the Beast try fighting back?
Belle: Well at first, the Beast was too depressed to fight after I left but he regained his will after he saw me return and started to fight Gaston. He ultimately spared Gaston telling him to never return and he climbed up to the balcony where I was waiting.
Raya: Wow. Quite a rescue I would say. After teaching the Beast about kindness. He saved you.
Belle: I know, right? But our victory was short lived.
Sisu: Uh oh. What happened?
Belle: Gaston had returned because he was still consumed by his lust for me and jealousy of the Beast, so he stabbed Beast's behind, wounding him.
Raya and Sisu: (wincing) Youch!
Belle: Yes, but that proved to be his down fall as he lost his balance and fell to his death.
Raya: Serves Gaston right for wounding Beast and locking you and your father up.
Belle: (giggles) Yep, Gaston certainly got the best of him.
Sisu: You can say that again. But wait a minute. What about the Beast? What happened to him?
Belle: The Beast had sadly died from his injuries as I wept over his loss and whispered that I love him. Then in that moment, the last petal of the enchanted rose falls off, indicating the spell was broken and I watched in amazement as the Beast is revived and turned back into a human prince. His real name is, Prince Adam. I studied him carefully and finally recognized him as the prince in portrait and said, "It is you".
Raya: And as for the castle and everyone else in it?
Belle: Well, after Prince Adam and I kissed, the servants have returned to their normal human states and the castle has be restored with its original glory. The last scene in my movie is when Prince Adam and I dance in the ballroom as my father, the servants and everyone else watched us.
Sisu: And that's another happy ending for another great story!
Belle: And I'm glad you enjoyed it. While it's been quite a journey for me to go from being a bookworm to a princess, I feel that it's an ending that I definitely earned.
Raya: I agree. You definitely earned it. (to Princesses) And now the next Princess is...?
Jasmine: Me. My film came out in 1992, one year after Belle's, making me the sixth Disney Princess.
Sisu: All right, Jasmine. Let's hear it. What's your story?
Jasmine: My story starts in the Arabian City of Agrabah. I was the daughter of Agrabah's ruler, The Sultan. He was having trouble finding me a prince.
Raya: Really? We're the princes that were selected weren't good enough?
Jasmine: Not quite. The recent prince left after Rajah bit his pants.
Jasmine: It did hurt to him and he felt that Rajah wouldn't let him get near me.
Raya: Rajah sure is a serious tiger.
Jasmine: True that. So The Sultan talked to me, who claimed I'm tired of living life being cooped up behind walls. The Sultan went to consult with his adviser, Jafar.
Jasmine: His Royal Vizier. Basically, he was the second most powerful man in Agrabah. While he seemed loyal to my father, he was secretly planning to replace him as Sultan. He also had a talking parrot named Iago, who followed him everywhere and helped him fulfill his goals.
Raya: Of course, this villain has an animal sidekick, much like Maleficent's crow Diablo. It's almost a pattern among your enemies.
Jasmine: Like you wouldn't believe. Anyway, Jafar was also a part-time sorcerer who used magic to manipulate my father, using his snake staff to hypnotize my father so that he'd do what was asked of him.
Jasmine: And dangerous. Anyway, while the Sultan was consulting him on how to deal with my unwillingness to marry a suitor. However, you should know it's not that I didn't want to marry. It was just that I want to be able to marry someone I loved, not someone I barely knew like all the suitors.
Raya: I know how you feel. We're all meant to make our own choices in life.
Jasmine: That's exactly the point. So, because I didn't want to spend my entire life within the confines of the palace walls, I decided to sneak out one night, climbing over the wall while disguised as a peasant girl.
Sisu: And how was it on the outside.
Jasmine: It was alright, but a bit dangerous. Fortunately, Aladdin was able to help me get around, as he knew the streets well.
Raya: And who is Aladdin?
Jasmine: When I first met Aladdin, he was a humble street rat who spent his days running from the guards and stealing just to survive. He was also a very crafty one, as he was able to not only outrun the guards, but outsmart them as well.
Sisu: I'd steal too if I was in the same situation as him even if it is wrong.
Jasmine: He was kind, and friendly, a far cry from all the Princes who tried to marry me before. However, much like the others, I didn't actually get to know his name when I first met him, as our meeting was cut short.
Jasmine: Well, after Aladdin had taken me to his home in an abandoned building, at which point Razoul, the Captain of the Guard in Agrabah, and a few of his fellow guards showed up. I'd initially believed that the guards had come for me, but I soon found out that they were there to arrest Aladdin instead. We tried to escape by jumping off the roof, but the guards still caught us.
Sisu: Wait, back up, you're a Princess, right? Doesn't that mean you have the authority to call the guards off?
Jasmine: Oh, I tried, but my authority was overridden at that point because Razoul's orders had come from Jafar. And because of that, Razoul told me I had to take it up with him, and so I did.
Raya: And how did that go?
Jasmine: Not good. See, Jafar had had Aladdin arrested on the charges of kidnapping me, when in truth I'd only ran away from home. He also lied to me, telling me that Aladdin had been executed. I was heartbroken, as I didn't even know him that well.
Sisu: (winces) Ooh, that hurts. But you said he lied, right?
Jasmine: He did, but I didn't know it at the time. See, Jafar had actually imprisoned Aladdin in the dungeon, as he was worth more to him alive than dead.
Jasmine: Jafar needed Aladdin alive so he could enter the Cave of Wonders.
Sisu: The Cave of Wonders?
Jasmine: A hidden cave full of vast riches and treasure beyond imagination marked by the giant tiger's head at its entrance.
Raya: Ooh, now that sounds like a really cool place to visit! But why would Jafar need Aladdin to go in there?
Jasmine: Well, Jafar wanted something that was inside the cave, but he couldn't go inside on his own. As the cave itself told him, only one person could enter. A person whose worth lay far within. A "diamond in the rough", if you will.
Sisu: And Aladdin was that person because he was actually much more than an ordinary street rat on the inside?
Jasmine: Exactly. Now, to get Aladdin to the cave, Jafar disguised himself as an older prisoner and led him out of the dungeon through a secret staircase. Once they were outside, Jafar led Aladdin through the desert to the cave, which he was able to enter.
Raya: And what was it that Jafar wanted inside?
Jasmine: He wanted this. (picks up Genie's lamp and holds it) He told Aladdin to get this lamp for him in exchange for a special reward, and so Aladdin went in to find it.
Sisu: And did he find it?
Jasmine: Yes, he did. But that was not all he found in there.
Raya: What else did he find?
Jasmine: He and his monkey companion Abu found huge mountains of gold and jewels inside the treasure room, but they couldn't touch any of it, as the cave had instructed them not to.
Sisu: A magic carpet? As in the kind that can fly around?
Jasmine: Yes, that kind of carpet. (whistles, Carpet to fly into view)
Raya: Oh, now that's cool.
(Carpet waves at Raya and Sisu)
Sisu: And he sure looks friendly.
Jasmine: Yeah, he's always pretty friendly. Anyway, after meeting Aladdin and Abu, Carpet led them to where the lamp was so that Aladdin could take it. But getting out of the cave was a lot harder than getting in.
Raya: Really? What happened?
Jasmine: Abu decided to take a big ruby which violated the Cave's guardian rule which is to only touch the lamp and nothing else. Both Aladdin and Abu jumped on the carpet to escape to the entrance where Jafar pleaded for Aladdin to give him the lamp. Aladdin did so, and Jafar then revealed a dagger, intending to kill him. Luckily, Abu bit Jafar's arm, and Aladdin and Abu fell both back into the cavern, as the giant Tiger's Head disappeared under the sand. Aladdin, Abu, and Carpet were trapped in the Cave of Wonders!
Sisu: (wincing) Ouch! Guess Jafar isn't someone you can trust.
Jasmine: Yes, that's true and when tried to find the lamp, he realized it was gone since Abu stole it back from him.
Raya: Clever monkey Abu is and it seems Jafar didn't get what he wanted.
Jasmine: (giggles) Yup. Abu is very clever and serves Jafar right.
Sisu: Yeah, and what happened with you in your palace while Aladdin was away?
Jasmine: Well, while Aladdin was down in the cave, I told my father what Jafar had done, and he was very upset. So much so that he told Jafar that the sentencing of prisoners should be discussed with him. He also tried to have us make amends, but I refused. I even went so far as to acknowledge that I would be able to be rid of him once I was Queen.
Raya: It's good to count your blessings. Even if you married a Prince, you would indeed have authority over him, much like your father did.
Jasmine: I guess you're right about that. However, Jafar was still angry that he hadn't gotten the lamp.
Sisu: And I'm guessing he's after the Genie inside the lamp?
Jasmine: Yes. As Abu presented the lamp he took back from Jafar, Aladdin rubbed it, and awoke the Genie within it. He's very friendly and was willing to grant any and all wishes asked of him, and would even crack jokes that involved him referencing things that didn't even exist yet in our world because he was able to transcend time and space.
Raya: And he could grant any three wishes his masters wanted, right?
Jasmine: (chuckles) Well, not just any three wishes. See, there were a few rules that placed limits on what kind of wishes the Genie's master could ask for.
Jasmine: Well, for one, he couldn't kill. Two, he couldn't make one person fall in love with another, and three, he couldn't bring anyone back from the dead. Besides that, he'd grant any wish you'd ask for.
Raya: So then what was Aladdin's first wish?
Jasmine: Aladdin's first wish was to become a prince so he could see me again.
Sisu: And how did the Genie grant him that wish?
Jasmine: He gave Aladdin a new set of clothes to make him look like a prince. He also turned Abu into an elephant and created a massive caravan so he could make a grand entrance to Agrabah.
Raya: Sounds like a bit much to me.
Jasmine: Yeah, you're right. It was a bit much.
Sisu: And what did you think of Aladdin when you saw him as a prince?
Jasmine: Well, at first, I was reluctant to meet him with his claims of being rich and powerful. Having already recognized him as the street urchin I met in the marketplace, I stayed vigilant, just in case he wasn't the man I knew.
Raya: But as it turned out, he was.
Jasmine: Right. But I only realized that after he took me on a ride around the world on Carpet that ended with us visiting China, where I tricked him into admitting that he was the boy I met in the marketplace.
Sisu: And how'd Aladdin take that?
Jasmine: He realized he'd accidentally outed himself, but decided to save face by lying and claiming that he dressed up as a commoner to escape the pressures of life as royalty.
Raya: Sounds like he was only digging himself a deeper hole with that.
Jasmine: Oh, it was. But I still fell for him, especially after Carpet made him kiss me.
Sisu: (To Carpet) You actually went out of your way to do that?
Jasmine: (giggles) He just wanted to help us out. Anyway, the two of us were both happy we were finally getting our way. Aladdin had finally found an escape from his old life as a street urchin, and I had finally found someone I could marry because I loved. (sighs) But our troubles with Jafar weren't over yet.
Raya: What did he do this time?
Jasmine: Jafar knew that Aladdin was a threat to his plans, and so he acted to have him eliminated by having the guards drown him in the ocean. And then, he used his hypnotic powers to make my father agree to have him marry me.
Sisu: Oh, now that's low.
Jasmine: Yeah, you're right. It was low, even for him. But without Genie's lamp, that was his only option.
Raya: Speaking of which, did Aladdin ask Genie to save him?
Jasmine: Yes, he did. He used his second wish to have Genie save him, which he did. Then Genie flew him back to the palace to confront Jafar. When he did arrive, he took Jafar's snake staff and destroyed it by smashing it on the floor, breaking his hold over my father.
Sisu: I'll bet your father was real upset when found out that Jafar was manipulating him like that.
Jasmine: Oh, yes, he was furious that Jafar had done that to him. He even tried to have the guards arrest him. But that failed when Jafar threw a vial on the ground, creating a smokescreen that allowed him and Iago to get away. Before he got away, however, he noticed Genie's lamp hidden in Aladdin's turban, which led him to realize that Aladdin was alive. And with that in mind, Jafar had Iago steal it from Aladdin when he was distracted, allowing him to carry out his original plan of using the Genie's magic to take over Agrabah.
Raya: Oh, that's not good at all.
Jasmine: Yes, you're right. And things only got worse after he got the lamp.
Jasmine: Well, after he got the lamp, Jafar used his first wish to make himself Sultan and have the Genie reluctantly lift the palace up to a new position atop the mountain. When we refused to bow to him, however, he decided to use his second wish to make himself into the world's most powerful sorcerer.
Raya: That sounds even worse than him just being Sultan!
Jasmine: You're right, it was much, much worse then. Especially with what he did to all of us.
Sisu: And what exactly did he do to all of you?
Jasmine: First, he took away Aladdin's princely outfit, turned Abu back into his monkey self and banished them to a frozen mountaintop. And then he turned Rajah into a cub, my father into a jester, and me into a slave girl!
Raya: (wincing) Oh, that's awful!
Jasmine: I know, right? Anyway, despite what Jafar had done to him, Aladdin was able to return to Agrabah with the help of Carpet so he could save us all from Jafar.
Sisu: And let me guess: A fight broke out between Aladdin and Jafar?
Jasmine: Exactly. When Aladdin returned, he attempted to steal the lamp back from Jafar, who used his magic to fight back.
Raya: And what kind of spells did he use in that fight?
Jasmine: He used spells that transfigured anyone who was attempting to get the lamp. For example, he trapped me in a giant hourglass, turned Abu into a toy monkey, and made Carpet unravel. He also used his magic to turn himself into a giant cobra to fight Aladdin with!
Raya and Sisu: A giant snake?
Jasmine: Yes! And he informs Aladdin that he was a fool thinking he could defeat (stands up for a second) "the most powerful being on earth."(sits back down). And Aladdin fired back telling Jafar he isn't a powerful being and the honor belongs to Genie, since he gave Jafar his power in the first place.
Sisu: Talk about using your words against yourself.
Jasmine: (Giggles) Yup, so Jafar was about to use his last wish to become the most powerful genie in the world but was at first convinced that new powers will allow him to rule the universe, but he realized too late that Aladdin tricked him, since as a genie, Jafar was no longer free. He was suddenly shackled and was sucked into the new lamp created by his own wish and is trapped along with Iago, who tries to flee, but he's dragged by the villain.
Raya: It serves Jafar right.
Jasmine: Yup. Jafar got what he deserved.
Sisu: And did you and Aladdin manage to marry each other after Jafar's defeat?
Jasmine: At first, since Aladdin was no longer a prince, he wasn't eligible to marry me. Genie however insisted that Aladdin use his final wish to make himself a prince again, but nevertheless, he kept his promise and wished for Genie's freedom. When all seemed lost for Aladdin and I, the Sultan decided that, between his loyalty to Genie and his courage in defeating Jafar, Aladdin has proven his worth; the Sultan therefore changed the law so that "the princess shall marry whomever she deems worthy," meaning Aladdin and I can be married. Genie flew away to see the world while Aladdin and I began our new life together.
Raya: Now that's a very happy ending to an awesome princess movie.
Jasmine: Yup, Aladdin and I are now a happy couple together.
Sisu: Glad you too were able to share each other's love after the adventure. (To the other princesses) Alright, who's next?
Pocahontas: Well, that'll be me. My movie came out in 1995, three years after Jasmine's, and I'm the seventh Disney Princess.
Raya: All right, Pocahontas. How does your story go?
Pocahontas: Okay, so my story takes place that is now known as Virginia.
Sisu: As in Virginia, the American state?
Pocahontas: That's the one. But this was long before the United States were formed. Back then, my people were the only ones who lived there. At the time, they lived peacefully under the leadership of my father, Chief Powhatan. For generations, we lived a relatively peaceful existence, only getting into much smaller conflicts with the neighboring tribes, who might oppose us.
Raya: And because you were the Chief's daughter, that made you a Princess?
Pocahontas: Pretty much. And because I was the Princess of the tribe, I was set up to marry one of the tribe's warriors, much like how Jasmine's father had done with her before.
Sisu: And who did your father choose for you to marry?
Pocahontas: A warrior named Kocoum. Now he was one of the best warriors in the tribe, and was indeed handsome and strong, but I felt he was much too serious for me. See, much like the wind itself, I was always much more playful than most others. Still, my father believed it was the right path for me. But I wasn't too sure.
Raya: So what did you do?
Pocahontas: I turned to Grandmother Willow for guidance.
Sisu: And who is Grandmother Willow?
Pocahontas: She's an ancient tree spirit who spoke to me through an old willow tree. Now, on the day my father had decided to have me marry Kocoum, I came to her saying that I was uncertain of the path I wanted to follow. I also told her of a dream that I'd had.
Raya: And what did you see in this dream?
Pocahontas: It was a spinning arrow and my confusion regarding what path in my life it should be. Like the arrow was guiding me to what path is right for me since I wasn't happy with what's happening right now.
Sisu: So what did you do after talking with Grandmother Willow?
Pocahontas: After that, I went exploring when I saw a man walking through the woods and decide to follow him.
Raya: And who was this man?
Pocahontas: His name was John Smith. He was part of a group of British Settlers who landed in Virginia to look for gold while under the command of Governor Ratcliffe.
Sisu: Well, isn't that intriguing?
Pocahontas: Yes, it was. Anyway, after meeting John, we spent some time together and he taught me to look at the world in a different way, and to not think of people who are different as 'savages'.
Raya: You mean to tell us that you never learned about how sometimes not all different people are savages?
Pocahontas: Well, almost like it. The reason why was because my father believed that the white men were dangerous and that no one in our tribe should go near them.
Sisu: And I can see why your father thought that way. To him, people like John Smith must have looked... strange and unfamiliar.
Pocahontas: Oh, they were very different. And because my people didn't know much about the settlers, a few of our warriors went to investigate their settlement. It didn't end to well.
Raya: In other words, there was a fight between your people and the settlers?
Pocahontas: Yes. Much like my people had seen them, the colonists saw us as savages too, and when our scouts were spotted, things went wrong. One of them was shot in the leg by a bullet from a musket, and the others were forced to retreat. And as a result, tensions started to grow, especially as Ratcliffe became more and more greedy.
Sisu: Sounds like trouble.
Pocahontas: It seemed that way. Now, while my father was occupied with the settlers, he had no idea that I was seeing John. As we continued to learn from each other, I came to realize that I was in love with him.
Raya: I'm beginning to see a pattern here with the whole "forbidden romance" theme among these movies.
Raya: And what of the gold that Ratcliffe believed was there?
Pocahontas: Apparently, there was no gold in the land as John told Ratcliffe about it but Ratcliffe didn't believe it. And he came up with the most ridiculous and outrageous idea he ever made.
Pocahontas: Ratcliffe thinks that me and my tribe have hidden the gold for ourselves and declares to eliminate us all!
Sisu: Now that's just ridiculous! And I thought not trusting the other tribes in Kumandra was bad.
Raya: You're right about that, Sisu. (To Pocahontas) So what did you do after John told Rattcliffe the news?
Pocahontas: During the night, I sneaked off to find John just as he was sneaking out of the fort and we found each other. We then went to Grandmother Willow to try convince John to talking with my dad, Chief Powhatan to resolve the conflict.
Sisu: Were you and Grandmother Willow successful at convincing John?
Pocahontas: Yes, and that's when John and I shared our first kiss together.
Raya: Now that's very romantic.
Pocahontas: Yup, and Grandmother Willow decided to give me and John some privacy by shielding Meeko and the other animals as we shared our kiss but we sensed we're being watched.
Pocahontas: John's comrade, Thomas and my unwanted soon-to-be husband Kocoum witnessed our kiss and Kocoum, overwhelmed by jealously, attacks John and tries to kill him but Thomas intervenes and kills Kocoum with his musket. My necklace was broken as Kocoum grabbed it before he fell.
Raya and Sisu: (wincing) Ooh!
Sisu: And I thought being shot by an arrow was bad. Seems like being shot by a musket is way more!
Pocahontas: Yes, it was terrible. In fact, it was such a shock to me that I almost ended up attacking Thomas if John hadn't stopped me. And what's worse is that our fight drew the attention of several other warriors, who captured him and prepared him to be executed by my father.
Raya: And what about Thomas?
Pocahontas: He went to tell the other settlers about what happened so they could mount a rescue.
Sisu: I'll bet Ratcliffe saw a "golden" opportunity when he heard about that.
Pocahontas: Yes, he did. He took advantage of the settlers' fear and hatred to stoke the fires of war. And at the same time, my father did the same as he prepared to execute John with this. (walks over to the vanity and picks up her father's club, which Raya picks up and examines closely)
Raya: Hmm. Looks strong. I'm sure something like this would definitely hurt. (hands weapon back to Pocahontas)
Pocahontas: Yes, you're right. This is a very strong and durable weapon.
Sisu: And where were you at the time when both your people and the settlers were about to go to war?
Pocahontas: I had gone to consult Grandmother Willow again about this unfortunate turn of events, and it was there where Meeko restored my faith by giving me this. (picks up John's compass and gives it to Sisu)
Pocahontas: Yes... When I saw it, I recognized it as the spinning arrow from my dream. Only this time, however, the arrow stopped spinning, and showed me the path that I needed to follow.
Raya: And what path was that?
Pocahontas: Yes. And my tribe was about to execute John and I had to save him. I did it right before my father could strike John, I threw myself over him and told my dad that I love him and that he must see where the path of hatred has brought them, asking him to choose his own path. After thinking about my words, he lowered his club and orders John to be set free.
Sisu: Now that's what I call standing up for yourself.
Pocahontas: (Chuckles) Yup, but it wasn't over yet, Ratcliffe still wanted to find that gold and ordered his men to attack the tribe. Ratcliffe fires at my dad but John pushed him aside and took the bullet.
Raya: (Wincing) Ooh! That's quite a nasty wound but a huge sacrifice John did for you.
Pocahontas: Yes and Ratcliffe's actions got the best of him as the settlers turned on, captured, and send him back to England to await punishment for treason.
Sisu: That's a punishment well deserved for someone who shoots their own men. What about John? Did he survive?
Pocahontas: Oh, yes, he did survive but he'll need to return to England for medical treatment. So John and I bid our goodbyes as my tribe and myself see them off.
Raya: That must be sad bid farewell to the person you love.
Pocahontas: It is, but I told him that I'll always be in his heart and then he left afterwards.
Sisu: That's good, cause you'll always remember each other and not forget.
Pocahontas: That's right. Just because someone you love leaves, that doesn't mean they'll be gone forever. They're always with you in your heart just like you're in theirs.
Sisu: Yup, exactly right about that. (to the Princesses) Alright, who's up next?
Mulan: Oh, that's me. My film came out in 1998, three years after Pocahontas', which makes me the eighth Disney Princess in the lineup.
Raya: All right, Mulan. What's your story?
Mulan: My story begins in China where an evil leader of the Huns named Shan Yu is leading his army to invade China, by breaching the Great Wall.
Sisu: Oh, my. That's trouble right there for you and the people of China.
Mulan: It most certainly is Sisu, Many people of China took part in the Chinese Army to fight back against Shan Yu and his Huns. My father was one of the soldiers who was fighting the huns but because of his age and previous war injuries however, it's unlikely he'll survive.
Raya: So, what happened after that?
Mulan: I decided to join the army and save China, but there was a drawback.
Raya and Sisu: What was it?
Mulan: Traditionally in China, only men can serve in the army while women are strictly forbidden from joining on pain of death.
Sisu: (wincing) Ooh! Well, that sounds... painful.
Raya: And wrong. Just because you're a woman doesn't mean that you can't be strong. I mean, just look at me. I'm a woman, and yet I can still hold my own.
Mulan: Oh, yes, I see that now. (chuckles and clears throat) Anyway, to get around this restriction, I disguised myself as a man by cutting my hair to a shorter length and donning my father's armor.
Sisu: Oh, now that's clever.
Mulan: Yeah, the army wouldn't think that I was a girl if the saw me looking like that. And with that disguise, I rode off with my horse, Khan, to join the army. But I didn't embark on this journey alone.
Raya: Really? Who else came with you?
Mulan: One of the allies who followed me was Mushu, a former guardian dragon who was trying to get back into favor with my ancestors.
Sisu: He was a dragon? Like me?
Mulan: Yep, much like you, Sisu. Except he's just a little smaller and red.
Sisu: That's fine by me. Any dragon is awesome, big or small.
Raya: I wanna ask, why was Mushu looking to regain the favor your ancestors after losing that position?
Mulan: It had something to do with what happened to my grandfather. Anyways, Mushu helped me to keep my cover while in the army, especially during training. I also had my horse, Khan, and a cricket named Cri-Kee, who also helped Mushu.
Sisu: And how did the training go for you?
Mulan: Well, it was rough at first, especially for me and a three other soldiers named Ling, Chien Po, and Yao. But we were able to pass many of the trials set out by our Captain Li Shang, who ran us ragged.
Mulan: Well, for one, we had to climb a long smooth wooden pole to reach an arrow at the top while being weighed down by a pair of heavy weights. The other soldiers failed, but I was able to pull it off.
Mulan: I took the weights and tied the ropes they were attached to together, and used them to help me climb the pole, and it worked! And it was only after that when the rest of the soldiers, Ling, Chien Po, and Yao included, all started to excel in every trial laid out.
Raya: Hmm, sounds like that one was a test of both your strength and wit.
Mulan: In hindsight, I believe it was. Eventually, after many weeks of training, the time came for me and the other soldiers to help Shang's father, the General of the Imperial Army, in fighting the Huns at the Tung Shao Pass. We spent many days marching towards the Pass, but we eventually made it there. Along the way, however, we found a village that was completely destroyed by the Huns in an attack.
Sisu: Did you find any survivors?
Mulan: No, there were no survivors. All the people in the village had be tragically killed by Shan Yu and his huns including Li Shang's father, General Li.
Raya: (gasps in shock) That's horrible!
Mulan: It was a horrifying sight to see. And Li Shang made a grave marker for the General and I placed the doll that Shan Yu found in front of the grave marker.
Sisu: Were you still able to continue on after the terrible loss?
Mulan: We did continue on but we were so disheartened by their loss, we got ambushed by the Hun archers due to a misfired cannon. So along with the troops, we tried to fight back only to discover the Shan Yu had massive army of Huns coming straight at us.
Raya: So what did you do to finish off the huns even though you and your fellow troops were out numbered?
Mulan: I spotted a precarious mound of snow on the upper mountainside and snatched the troop cannon before putting in a rocket to fire at the snow mount.
Sisu: I sense a huge avalanche coming.
Mulan: Oh, there was. After the rocket hit the snow mound, it sparked a large avalanche that completely swallowing the fleeing Huns, including Shan Yu, burying them. The Chinese Troops took refuge while I rescued Shang from being swept away by the snow towards the cliff.
Raya: Wow. That was big risk saving Captain Shang but you managed to bury the Huns and Shan himself thanks to your clever plan.
Mulan: It sure was and we all celebrated together but it was cut short when I discovered that I was bleeding.
Sisu: Ouch! How did it happen?
Mulan: Before the avalanche buried Shan Yu and his army, Shan's sword swiped my lower abdomen.
Raya: (wincing) Oh, that's a nasty wound.
Mulan: It sure was, and afterwards, I fainted as Shang quickly summoned a doctor. When I woke up after treatment, that's when my real identity was revealed.
Sisu: And what did Shang do when he found out?
Mulan: He would have executed me for what I had done, but he didn't.
Mulan: Because I saved him. He only felt that it was fair that he do the same for me. But he left me there in the mountains. But my troubles were far from over then.
Mulan: Because Shan Yu and a few of his men survived the avalanche. Despite the loss of his army, Shan Yu was not willing to give up on his goal to conquer China, and so he and his men set off for the Imperial City.
Raya: And what did you do?
Mulan: I followed them and went into the city to warn Shang. But he didn't believe me until it was too late. By that time, the Huns had taken the Emperor hostage and sealed off the entrance to the palace. Shang and the soldiers tried to break down the door using a statue of a Guardian Lion, but it wasn't working. Fortunately, I had an idea to get into the palace and rescue the Emperor.
Mulan: We dressed up as concubines, scaled one of the palace walls and infiltrated the palace. The Huns won't attack us since in the presence of women, they lowered their defenses and we were able to dispatch them all.
Raya: Wow that's pretty clever.
Mulan: Yup, and pretty soon, Shan Yu was making the emperor bow before him during this attack, but the Emperor calmly rebuffed him. Before Shan Yu can kill the Emperor, Shang intervened, and the Emperor was safely removed from the palace by Chien Po.
Sisu: Whew! That was a close one for the Emperor.
Mulan: Yes but unfortunately for me and Shang, we were now trapped on the Balcony with Shan Yu. Before Shan Yu is about to kill Shang, I put on my male disguise to face him. Shan Yu immediately recognized me from the mountain battle and gives chase, intent on avenging his fallen army.
Raya: So what plan did you have to stop him?
Mulan: I lured him to the palace rooftop where I disarmed and pinned him with his own sword and Mushu launched a huge firecracker that hit Shan Yu, killing him in the resulting explosion.
Sisu: Looks like Shan Yu went out with a bang! (laughs)
Raya: (chuckles) That's very good, Sisu.
Mulan: (laughs) Yep, he sure did. After his demise, the Emperor met me and, in an accusatory tone, listed my crimes, but nevertheless pardoned me for saving China and himself. The Emperor then bowed to me, which was considered an extremely high honor as it implies being of a higher status than the Emperor, while the hundreds of observers kowtow which is an Eastern bowing position with one's face and palms to the floor.
Sisu: Wow! Even though you broke the gender rules, the Emperor bowed to you for saving China.
Mulan: Yes, it was and the Emperor offers me a position among his staff, but I politely declined it, explaining I'd rather go back home to my family. The Emperor accepts it and gives me Shan Yu's Sword, along with his crest to bring home and give honor to my family.
Mulan: Yup, and as I got home, I expected to be reprimanded but instead embraced by family. Shang even arrived to talk with me, having been encouraged to tell me his feelings for me by the Emperor. Also, the ancestors reluctantly agree to make Mushu a guardian once more, and a celebration ensues.
Sisu: That's awesome! You know, your movie really is inspiring Mulan. Showing women that they can do anything that men can do.
Mulan: Yeah it really is. And all of us pretty much got that personality too.
Raya: And speaking of which, I think your home looks wonderful, Mulan. Maybe Sisu and I will come visit there one day.
Sisu: Yeah, that's a great idea.
Mulan: (chuckles) Thank you for listening, Raya and Sisu. China will welcome you with open arms, even by my father, Fa Zhou, my mother, Fa Li, my grandmother, my guardian, Mushu, my pets, my friends, Ling, Chien Po, and Yao, and my husband, Li Shang.
Sisu: That's pretty cool. (To the Princesses) Anyways, who's up next?
Tiana: Oh, that's me. My movie came out in 2009, 11 years after Mulan's which makes me the ninth princess in the lineup.
Raya: Wow. I'm guessing Disney took another break from princess movies after Mulan's?
Mulan: Well, yes. After the success of my movie, Disney tried to come up with other ideas for movies like 3D CGI movies such as Dinosaur, Chicken Little, Meet the Robinsons, and of course, Bolt.
Sisu: Wow. That's really creative to be honest. So, how does your story go, Tiana?
Tiana: Well, my story takes place in the city of New Orleans, Louisiana.
Raya: Let me guess. This is another American state, like Virginia?
Tiana: (chuckles) Yes... But not in the same time period as the one in which Pocahontas' story was set. Anyway, I grew up there in New Orleans with my mama Eudora and my daddy James, and we would often treat neighbors to the food we'd make. See, to my daddy, they were as much a family as I was to him. And it was because of that I hoped to open my own restaurant one day just so I could treat others much like he did.
Sisu: Oh, now that sounds like a great dream to follow.
Raya: And not to mention a pretty big one too...
Tiana: It was big at the time. But I never gave up on it. Over the years, I worked hard to make this dream come true. I even worked two jobs as a waitress at two different restaurants like Duke's and Cal's and saving up all the tips so I could afford the property where I would build my restaurant on. And I would get my chance to earn it when Prince Naveen showed up.
Tiana: Naveen, a prince from a faraway land, who had come to America. And because my friend Charlotte wanted to see him and earn her dream of marrying a Prince, she decided to have me cater the masquerade party that night at the LaBouff mansion, where Naveen was going to stay as her daddy's guest. She paid me a handsome amount of money that proved to be enough so I could finally build my dream restaurant on the property of a former sugar mill.
Raya: Sounds like you were well on your way to your dream!
Tiana: Oh, I was. And at that point, my dream was even closer than ever. Now Naveen had a dream too.
Sisu: And what dream was that?
Tiana: Well, to continue living the high life that he'd lived back in his homeland, where he was quite the womanizer.
Raya: I bet he was. Still, what did that have to do with him coming to your city?
Tiana: Well, while he was a Prince, he was actually completely broke!
Sisu: (laughs) Wow, a broke Prince? That's new! And I thought all Princes were rich.
Tiana: (chuckles) I know, it's strange, especially when compared to the other Princes, but it's true, he was broke. See, his parents cut him off, in hopes that he could learn some responsibility, but when he arrived, it seemed he had no intention of learning how to work until he met one Dr. Facilier.
Raya and Sisu: Dr. Facilier?
Tiana: He's a witch doctor who does black magic and can even make people's dreams come true.
Raya: A Voodoo Doctor? That sounds pretty menacing.
Tiana: Well, that's where it happens. Dr Facilier would ask for certain amount of money so he can help grant people's wishes. One instance is where a bald man wanted hair on his head, which he got, but only to have a hair overgrowth with having hair grow like crazy everywhere.
Sisu: Yeesh! That's beyond a bad hair day.
Tiana: I know, right? So Naveen and his royal valet, Lawrence were invited to Facilier's voodoo shop where he shows them his powers and his "friends on the other side".
Raya: Friends on the other side?
Tiana: That means, friends from the Voodoo World.
Tiana: Anyways, Dr. Facilier was very jealous of La Bouff's fortune, he took advantage of Naveen's gullibility and Lawrence's resentment of his master to help in his plot to take over New Orleans.
Raya: Oh, no! That's not good. Not to mention taking advantage of someone just to rule a city.
Tiana: I know, right? Any normal person would've avoided falling for Facilier's deceptions, but Naveen played right into Facilier's hands. And with a promise of "green" and "hopping from place to place" in his future, the Shadow Man turned the Prince into a frog.
Tiana: Yes, a frog. He also turned Lawrence into a copy of Naveen so he could get close to Charlotte so that he could woo and eventually marry her as part of the the plan.
Raya: Sheesh, the things people will do for money.
Tiana: Yeah, it was pretty low, even for someone like Facilier. And the plan would've worked too if Naveen hadn't escaped from their clutches and ran into me while at the party that night.
Tiana: Facilier wanted to get Lawrence to marry Charlotte and get her money. And then, Facilier would kill her father and use his money to control the city.
Raya: Oh, now that's even worse than just trying to take people's money!
Tiana: I know, right? Anyway, Facilier and Lawrence kept Naveen hidden in a jar. But because Naveen needed air to breathe, Lawrence decided to slightly loosen the lid to help him. But he loosened it too much, allowing Naveen to escape.
Sisu: Should've just poked some holes in the lid.
Tiana: Now, when I met Naveen, I was standing out on the balcony at the masquerade party, trying to wish upon the evening star in hopes getting my wish to achieve me and my father's dream of opening a restaurant.
Sisu: Why were you doing that?
Tiana: Because someone had outbid me for the old Sugar Mill building. And if I couldn't get the money in 3 days, the hope of achieving the dream for me and my daddy would be lost.
Raya: I see. So what happened when you met Naveen?
Tiana: At first, I was frightened, as I did not expect him to talk back to me. And I almost killed him until he convinced me that he was the real Prince.
Sisu: Oh, thank goodness you heard him out. That would have been terrible if you had killed him there.
Tiana: Yes. Now, when I met Naveen, I was wearing a Princess costume, which led to him mistaking me for a Princess and asking me to kiss him so he could be turned back into a human.
Raya: And you kissed him?
Tiana: I did. But because I wasn't a real princess, it didn't change him back. Instead, it turned me into a frog!
Raya and Sisu: It turned you into a frog?
Tiana: Yes! And soon, Naveen and I were seen by Big Daddy, who sicced his dog Stella on us. And because of that, we had to escape. And we did so by taking some balloons and floating away until we were over the bayou.
Sisu: And what happened then?
Tiana: Well, we landed in the bayou, where we discovered many of the dangers it held first-hand, including birds, gators, and fish who were all dedicated to eating us. However, not all the animals out there were out to get us. One such animal was Louis.
Tiana: A trumpet-playing alligator who wanted to be able to play for people without them being scared of him. As I mentioned before, gators were a bit of a problem, especially with New Orleans being near the bayou and all. So he believed that the only way he could be loved would be for him to become a human, much like how we were trying to get ourselves changed back somehow. And fortunately for us, he knew about Mama Odie, whom he believed could make us human again and him into a human.
Raya: And who's Mama Odie?
Tiana: She's a 197 year old Voodoo Priestess who lives in the swamps of Louisiana. Although she may be old, she's a very wise and kind woman.
Raya: Wow. That is old but she does sounds cool.
Tiana: She sure does and Louis showed us the way to follow to find Mama Odie. As Naveen and I journey trought the bayou, we met a Cajun firefly named Ray.
Sisu: Cool! A Cajun firefly helping you and Naveen through the bayou.
Tiana: Yup. It sure was cool but then we ran into three hillbillies who tried catch us and make dinner out of us.
Sisu: What are Hillbillies?
Tiana: Hillbillies are group of unsophisticated country people, who like to live in remote areas in the backwoods and they like to play country music. And the hillbillies we ran into wanted to make a frog meal out of us but we fought back.
Raya: How did you two fend off the hillbillies?
Tiana: I gave them a scare by talking them which made them run. After that, we decided to stop and rest while Ray removed the pricks that Louis had gotten from landing in some pricker bushes. Naveen and I decided to whip up some gumbo, where I taught him how to mince mushrooms, as when I showed him to, he told me much about his life back in his homeland, where he basically had servants do everything for him.
Sisu: (sniggers) Some folks just have it so easy.
Tiana: And he did have it easy. But in teaching him to mince, I taught him how to work like most other people, and we both really started to see eye-to-eye.
Raya: Definitely sounds the beginning of a friendship.
Tiana: Oh, I'd like to think it was the beginning of something much more than a friendship. Anyways, we all settled down for the evening, and while we talked, Ray told us about his beloved Evangeline.
Raya: And let me guess, this "Evangeline" was another firefly, right?
Tiana: Well, not entirely...
Tiana: Evangeline was the evening star, the same star I was wishing on when Naveen showed up.
Raya: (Bursts into laughter) A firefly in love with a star?! (Laughs again) Now, I've seen everything!
Tiana: (chuckles) Yes, it was a bit funny... But Ray was dead serious about it. He even sang a sung about it! And Naveen and I didn't have the heart to tell him, as we didn't want to hurt his feelings.
Sisu: I agree. It probably was better that way...
Tiana: Yes, it was. Now, while Ray was singing, Naveen asked me to dance with him.
Raya: And did you accept?
Tiana: I did, and it was then when we started to have feelings for each other. But we didn't realize that love was what we needed. We needed Mama Odie's advice to help with that.
Sisu: Really? What'd she say?
Tiana: She told Naveen and I that we should've been looking for what we needed not what we wanted. And as of then, we needed a Princess if we wanted to be restored to human form.
Raya: And did you find one?
Tiana: Yes. We found one in the form of Charlotte, who was a Princess because her daddy was voted King of the Mardi Gras parade that year. But it only would count till midnight, when the day was officially over.
Sisu: Ooh, a princess with a time limit. So what did that do next?
Tiana: After thanking Mama Odie, we set off for New Orleans by hitching a ride on a steamboat.
Raya: That's cool! Don't even need to pay to ride it.
Tiana: You got that right, Raya. Naveen set up a candle-lit dinner for both of us on the boat and we started expressing our feelings to each other.
Sisu: That's very Romantic. Did it work out great?
Tiana: It did for awhile until I saw the old Sugar Mill that I planned to open my dream restaurant. I told Naveen about how I pictured it as everything I wanted for me and my father.
Raya: What did Naveen think about your dream?
Tiana: He liked it very much and even made a promise to me.
Tiana: He's gonna help make my dream come true no matter. No more being lazy and work two jobs with me.
Raya: Wow. Naveen sure does care for you a lot.
Tiana: He does. He really does. But I didn't realize how much I really needed him until much, MUCH later.
Sisu: Really? How much later?
Tiana: Well, after we arrived at New Orleans, Ray came to me and asked me about the ring Naveen was going to give me.
Raya and Sisu: He made a ring for you?
Tiana: He did! But he didn't give it to me, as he left me to myself before he could. Still, when Ray told me, I was overjoyed because I realized that he loved me.
Raya: And what'd you do then?
Tiana: I went looking for him while the Mardi Gras parade was going on, and I saw him atop a giant wedding cake float while he was going to marry Charlotte!
Sisu: What? But I thought you said he loved you!
Tiana: He did love me, but what I didn't know then that it was actually Lawrence that I saw marrying Charlotte as Naveen. Regardless, I felt betrayed and heartbroken that he'd go for Charlotte just so he could be rich again. But Ray was suspicious about the whole thing and decided to find out the truth.
Raya: And how'd he go about with that?
Tiana: He freed the real Naveen from the box he was being held in, allowing the prince to stop the imposter from marrying Charlotte by yanking him off the float. And after that, he stole Facilier's amulet off of Lawrence, leaving him to be found out and arrested by the police.
Sisu: Serves that guy right for posing as the prince himself.
Tiana: Yeah, he did deserve that. Anyway, Naveen gave the amulet to Ray, who then passed it on to me when he got to the graveyard where I had been hiding. And while I ran off with the amulet, Ray used his light to fight off the shadow creatures that Facilier had summoned. Unfortunately, Facilier himself swatted Ray down and crushed him under foot before going after me.
Raya: Oh, now that's brutal!
Tiana: I know, right? Anyway, Facilier eventually tracked me down. When I threatened to break the amulet, he tried to talk me out of it by showing me a vision of my dream restaurant and visions of the past with my father.
Sisu: And what did you do then?
Tiana: Seeing my father again made me realize that while he never got what he wanted, he did have what he needed. It also helped me to see that I needed love in my life. The same kind of love that he had. And so I took Facilier's amulet and smashed it on the ground, summoning his "Friends on the Other Side".
Raya: What did they do to him?
Tiana: Despite Facilier's begging and pleading for more time, they dragged him into the voodoo realm through the mouth of the largest mask, which vanished in a bright flash of light, leaving behind only the screaming visage of Facilier etched onto the stone.
Sisu: I'd say he kind of deserved that for trying to kill Charlotte's dad and take over the city.
Tiana: Yeah, I agree. Now, with Facilier gone, I went to go see what was happening with Naveen, only to find Lawrence being loaded into the back of a police car while the real Naveen was trying to convince Charlotte to kiss him so that he and I would be returned to normal. However, the clock struck midnight, and Charlotte's kiss did not work because she was no longer a princess then.
Raya: Oh, now that's too bad.
Tiana: Agreed. But despite that, Naveen and I were still able to admit that we loved each other.
Sisu: Aw, now that's sweet.
Tiana: Yeah... However, the sweetness of that moment was soon lost when Louis came to us with the dying Ray in his hands.
Raya: And what happened then?
Tiana: When we saw him, we told him that we had chosen to remain as frogs, and he told us in return that he was alright with that. (sighs) And that was the last thing he ever said to us before he passed on.
Sisu: Oh, Tiana, we're so sorry.
Tiana: It's all right, Sisu. Nothing to be ashamed of. After Ray passed, we did a proper funeral from him and placed his body on a leaf and push it across the water and said our final goodbyes to him. Then we looked up to see another bright, white light next to Evangeline shinning much brighter. We all cheered that Ray had finally got wish to be with Evangeline at last.
Raya: That's very nice for what you did for Ray and he got his wish to be with Evangeline. And did you and Naveen get married afterwards?
Tiana: Yes, the entire bayou attended our wedding and Mama Odie performed the wedding ceremony. As she pronounces me and Naveen as "frog and wife" we share a kiss and we turned back into our normal selves.
Sisu: Wow! But how did it happen? Were you the Princess that helped break the spell.
Tiana: That's right. Since I've now become a Princess, i'm now Naveen's wife.
Tiana: Yup, and after the wedding, we returned to New Orleans and bought the old building from the Real Estate agents with some help from Louis and together, we made "Tiana's Palace", a very successful, up-scale restaurant with Louis entertaining the guests with his trumpet as Naveen and I happily serve them and we went on the roof dancing together and sharing a kiss underneath the stars, with Ray and Evangeline shining brightly together in the night sky.
Raya: Now that's a very happy ending. You finally achieved your father's dream of opening a restaurant and married a handsome prince.
Tiana: Yeah, it really is. And you and Sisu are welcome to visit "Tiana's Palace" whenever you visit New Orleans. You two can be honorary guests and Naveen and I will provide with our most elegant dishes and sweet jazz from Louis.
Raya: Thank you very much, Tiana. Sisu and I would love that.
Sisu: Yeah. We appreciate it.
Tiana: You're very welcome Raya and Sisu.
Raya: (To the Princesses) All right, who's next?
Rapunzel: I am. My movie came out 1 year after Tiana's, which makes me the tenth princess. I'm also the first 3D Princess.
Sisu: 3D Princess? Wait wait. But weren't all of you 3D?
Cinderella: While we are 3D now, we weren't always like this. Back then, Disney started with 2D animation that started with Snow White all the way to Tiana. In 2D animation, we were hand drawn, way before computer generated imagery. Even our boss, Mickey Mouse and his friends started out with 2D animation.
Raya: Oh. So 2D animation from the beginnings up to the future of CGI. That's cool.
Snow White: Yup. Nowadays, 3D animation is the crown jewel of animated movies.
Sisu: Totally cool. (To Rapunzel) So, Rapunzel, we're excited to hear yours. What's your story?
Rapunzel: All right, here it comes. So my story begins in the kingdom of Corona ruled by my father, King Frederic, and my mother, Queen Arianna. Now, when my mother was about to have me, she contracted an unknown illness while she was heavily pregnant. She grew so ill that no normal medicines could cure her. But there was one thing that could save her.
Rapunzel: A magical golden flower, said to have been created on the spot where a drop of the sun landed after falling from the heavens. My father and his men searched diligently, and eventually found it.
Raya: And how did they use it to save your mother?
Rapunzel: They made it into a potion and gave it to her, and with that, she and I were saved. But the magic of the flower didn't just heal my mother. It also changed me as well.
Rapunzel: When I was born, I was not born as a brunette like my mother. Rather, I was born with this magical golden hair.
Raya: And exactly how magical was your hair?
Rapunzel: We'll get on to that later. So to celebrate my birth, my parents released a floating lantern into the night sky.
Sisu: Wow! That's amazing. A very special event for your birthday.
Rapunzel: It sure is, Sisu. But Gothel was really desperate to get golden flower's powers and tried to reclaim it back.
Raya and Sisu: Who's Gothel?
Rapunzel: She was my evil stepmother who wanted my powers. She used them to stop herself from aging and stay young for long time.
Sisu: Wow. A wicked woman who wanted to stop aging? That's new.
Rapunzel: Yep and one night, Gothel snuck into the castle while my parents and I were asleep, she wanted to cut a piece of my to use instead of the actual flower. (lifts a lock of her hair up then shows Raya and Sisu what happens when her hair is cut using small scissors) But when she cut it, the lock of hair turned dark brown.
Raya: Oh my. Is it because the hair is cut off from your DNA which is where the power supply is?
Rapunzel: Exactly! Since the flower's powers were in my DNA and my hair is part of it, cutting a piece off disconnects the power supply rendering that piece of hair useless.
Sisu: So, what did Gothel do?
Rapunzel: She kidnapped me, taking me away before my parents could do anything to stop her
Raya: Oh, now that's terrible!
Rapunzel: I know, right? Anyway, after Gothel took me away, my parents started to search all throughout the kingdom in the hope that they could find me. But they never did.
Rapunzel: Because Gothel had taken me to a place hidden from Corona. An old tower in a hidden grotto. And it was there where I grew up, with Gothel raising me as her own while using the magic in my hair to keep herself looking young and beautiful.
Raya: Hm. And we thought that Snow White's stepmother was vain.
Rapunzel: Yeah, you're right, she was pretty bad. But while I grew up, I didn't grow up alone. I had my chameleon friend Pascal to keep me company. (Pascal then crawls up and onto Rapunzel's shoulder and smiles at Raya and Sisu)
Sisu: Oh, now that's adorable.
Rapunzel: I know, right? Anyway, while I grew up, Gothel never cut my hair, as she knew it mean that she'd no longer be able to stay young and beautiful. Instead, she let it grow out.
Raya: And how long is your hair now?
Rapunzel: It's about seventy feet long.
Raya and Sisu: Seventy feet long?
Sisu: Whoa, I bet that must be painful for you to brush.
