Hello, Internet!

I'm Finley, I'm 17, and I am currently studying biology, chemistry, and geography at A level.

I have recently become interested in the topic of neuroplasticity, and how you can utilise your brain in order to develop amazing cognitive abilities.

This interest is due to the fact that after recently starting a new revision tactic, I believe I have started to develop a photographic memory; I can now picture, and somewhat read, the pages from my textbook that I have revised with my new method without having them it front of me.

This has inspired me to attempt to fully develop a photographic memory in order to memorise all of my textbooks in preparation for my A level exams.

I have also decided to document this experiment here on Tumblr.

I doubt anyone will see this, so for now this is more of a personal record, but I am posting this to the public domain in case anyone finds my journey interesting.

How I memorise my textbooks:

My method for memorising my textbooks involves 2 phases, which are as follows:

Phase 1:

Read a section of the topic I have chosen to study (everything under 1 subtitle; normally 2-3 paragraphs).

Make a flashcard on Anki, with the front being the subtitle, and the back just saying "Rate how you did!".

Repeat steps 1-2 for the rest of the topic.

Do this for 2 topics per day.

Phase 2:

Cover up the textbook with a sheet of paper.

Use Anki to determine which section of the textbook you need to recall.

Check if you recalled the information correctly.

Repeat steps 1-3 for the 20 flashcards allocated by Anki.

Repeat step 4 for all 3 Anki decks.

Repeat steps 1-5 every day.

I'm feeling less sick today.

I have changed my revision system a bit, as the previous method was taking far too long (each topic was taking me an hour just to convert into flashcards), and I want to enjoy my summer as well as do revision.

In order to do this, I am going to have to remake my anki flashcards, but it should take far less time to do so.

My updated system will be posted separately.

I have calculated that I must revise roughly 1.8 topics per day during the upcoming summer holiday in order to finish all of them.

This includes topics I have not yet learned at college; I intend to get a headstart.

I'm so excited! The summer holiday is only a few days away!

How I memorise my textbooks:

⚠️ Disclaimer: This method is out of date, and no longer how I study due to its inefficiency.

You are still more than welcome to use this method if you wish, but i strongly advise that you refer to my new and improved method, which you can find here ⚠️

Read a section (everything under 1 subtitle; normally 2-3 paragraphs).

Cover it and write down as much as I remember.

Correct with green pen.

Repeat steps 1-3 for the rest of the topic.

Phase 2:

Type up each section as its own flashcard on Anki, with the subtitle being on the front of the flashcard, and the body of text being on the back.

Use Anki everyday.
